Great review and love your channel and input! I agree with you on the Etha 3 I just want to add the following. I feel like the G-TEK 170r is the most overlooked and underrated tournament ready marker on the market. The Etha 3 to me is what the ion was for smart parts which is what I started playing tourney’s with but having a screen and tool less features makes tourneys much easier so that you can make sure your gun is ready and do the regular maintenance on the spot no matter what. And for an extra 250 you can have all the features of the high end markers with a 170R. Love Planet Eclipse 🙌 And much love to your channel. Thank you for all the great content and love of the game.

I'm still using the original GTek, and while I like the value proposition of the Etha 3, I just can't get over the harder grips. I love the rubber grips of the GTek.

One of the things I love about the Etha 2 is how you can remove the battery without tools. I'm a little surprised they added in a screw when the first one worked so well. Was it popping off on some people? To me it is very solid, I don't understand why they changed it. Glad to see they added the tool less bolt removal!

The toolless bolt removal body is available separately, so someone could use the Etha2 lowers with toolless battery + toolless bolt for the ultimate no tools Etha

1. Couldn't agree more with @jponthetree. I'm currently getting back into paintball after a 6 year hiatus cuz, yaknow, life. Watching your videos has been super helpful in re-navigating the landscape and understanding what has changed. PLUS, all of your videos covering the PE GTEK 170R convinced me it was the right one for me and sure enough it is PERFECT. 2. You gotta start a podcast or even look into getting involved in voice acting or audiobook recordings. I would listen to you read me a book to fall asleep every night lol.

Paintball guns really haven't changed to much in 15 years. Im saying in the shot quality and how fast they can cycle and how reliable they are. Yeah some hit some miss but for the most part... Slightly more efficient... Slightly smoother shot. Not that a paintball gun has KICK like a real firearm anyways... You said it perfectly.. Dont think that buying a 2000 gun will make you play better then a 500 etha 3. I dont fool around with Junk. Back in the day EVERYONE bought new guns like every year because innovation... But things only get so good to the point where guns made 4 5 years ago are Still amazing... My geo 2.1 was one of the nicest guns ive ever shot... And I would bet it shoots just as nice as I would ever need to play rec ball. I sold it. But I have a couple of old egos sl94 jack frost and my trusty old 05 stocker that are always ready... They will mow faces all day. New guys are awesome and its mostly for show....

I was planning on getting the etha3 until I realized that it's a upgraded etha2. I'm keeping my etha2 and wait for planet eclipse or a etha 3 owner to sell the blade trigger. don't need the body/valve chamber because I have the inception designs fle body and not too bother by screwing the bolt

Picked up a used etha 3 with the HK carbon fiber body kit (less than 1k balls) for $460. Then got a hopper and tank for $200; ready to step my game up next time I’m on the field (only used rental guns to this point)!!!

if you havent already bought it, its smarter to get the 170 for the same price by looking at local facebook groups reselling gear. almost all the gear and guns ive used over the years are second hand and for the price you cant beat it

Here are some guns that are a far better value: Ego 08: $300-$400 Dye DM 9-15: $300-$600 Ego 09, 10 and 11: $400-$500 Dangerous Power G5 Spec R: $360 Hell, if you can find one, go for a Spyder VS2. You can get one of those for like $120 and buy all your gear for the same price as the Etha. Plus the VS2 has comparable performance. It can keep up with Egos. Long story short, you don’t have to buy a plastic gun at $560 to have a good time. There are plenty of older high end markers that will turn circles around the Etha.

People can get so much more value out of buying an older marker for a fraction of the cost of these “newer” markers. So I’m a collector but I play with all my guns and I was trying keep all my guns and I’ve been looking at the etha 2 for a while and I like how you can put that body kit on it to make it look more realistic I would say. But moral of this story is brand new, is the etha 3 worth it when I currently own a mini gs, axe 2.0, shocker amp and luxe X all were brought new besides the luxe but I wouldn’t mind adding a Etha 3 to my collection. Also can I put that body kit on it like the etha 2 can?

Maintenance very easy and low. The 180r and Etha 3 are internally nearly the exact same gun I wouldn’t say one is more or less reliable.

I have a question. Does one have to set their regulator's output pressure to match their gun's preferred operational pressure? Like, For the Etha 3 output range is 250 to 550 psi, do I have to set my regulator between 250 to 550 psi? (Hope that explains that better.)

No it should work fine with a standard output regulator. Those pressures are optimal, there might be a very slight performance difference.

Mainly rate of fire, the electronic Etha 3 can have a higher BPS. The Etha 3 also have break beam eyes, that help reduce chopping.

I traded my 3M for a shocker RSX, worst decision I ever made. I ended up getting rid of the shocker for an electric Etha 3. The Etha and 3M are hand down my favorite markers to shoot, smooth as hell and easy to maintain.

What should the output pressure on my tank be for best performance? I have an adjustable reg.

All modern electronic markers can basically handle all the tank pressures from an adjustable reg. For example, if you have a Ninja V2 Pro: zero shims is 450psi, 1 is 550psi, 2 is 700psi, and 3 shims is 800psi. Only SHP (super-high pressure) regs will not play nice with a typical marker (Autocockers, Tippmans, etc. need the higher pressure but it can damage other markers). Bob Longs and maybe MacDevs normally like the lowest pressure (450psi) or even a SLP reg (super-low pressure). Honestly, I've shot Planet Eclipse and Dye markers with an SLP and they work fine too. Best advice is, go with either 0 or 1 shim for around 450-500psi and it will be fine for pretty much every marker.

Not to speak for him but it's typically personal preference in the ergonomics (they way it feels holding it, the length, etc.). No difference in shot quality and even the shot "sound" is perception....people that think one marker sounds quieter or the shot is "softer" and another marker is more "snappy" or has more "pop"-all of the mid-high end markers are so close it's pretty much a tie (or very little difference).

@vap9190 yep haha. Performance is nearly the same on so many guns, to me it’s almost all comes down to ergonomics and reliability. Ergonomics really all preference, there’s no question the Eclipse guns are the most reliable.
