~*~ as a disabled woman~*~ I actually found Ethan's dogged pursuit of the truth with regards to his symptoms very important for the audience. No, he didn't end up having lupus, but he listened to his body, reached out, got help, and tried to figure out what was wrong with him. We should all of the mindset that going to the doctor is not a bad thing, and it's always better to listen to your body and try to understand it then just being miserable and getting sicker. An important lesson that was lost in the shuffle a bit! Edited to add: It is much better to be cautious, go to the doctor, and find out that nothing is wrong with you than to not go to the doctor and realize later down the line that something was wrong with you and you missed your window or best chance to treat it.

Ethan, I spent 16 years waiting for an accurate diagnosis. Those few months of your raw reaction to lab results and the insight look into what it’s like to WAIT, feel so confused and unsure, having doctors throw you around with no real answers- SO REAL. I had a million “normal” or “on the cusp” lab results before my condition was finally uncovered and diagnosed by a world renowned rheumatologist. There’s a reason why chronic illness often goes undiagnosed for YEARS. And to see a comedian process that experience of uncertainty and be able to add funny commentary, felt so healing and relatable. As someone with chronic illness and autoimmune issues, I literally could not finish the segment because of how angry Dr Dolittle made me. Honestly it just triggered me how he managed to so severely stigmatize chronic illness further under the false pretense that he is an advocate for chronic health. He clearly isn’t.

Yeah, Jake has been slipping from ironically mean and hateful to actually just mean and hateful. I used to watch most of his videos, but lately I find myself not liking how mean he is to people who don't deserve it, or even mean to people who do deserve it, but in a way that causes innocent people to catch strays. Like he'll diss someone's appearance repeatedly in a way that shames anyone who looks similar, without ever qualifying it like Ethan always does when he says things like "we love our short kings". No love from Jake these days. Basically, Jake went from sweet and fun to hateful over the course of his main channel's popularity, and it sucks. I hope if by some weird chance Jake reads this, he takes it as constructive. He is creative enough to make good content, and caring enough to be more compassionate with his language and criticism. I'd love to see him make a turn around back to being driven by a good cause and fun, creative content.

@meowJACK11 ай бұрын
Exactly. And it's not even like Ethan had an overly crazy amount of anxiety either! He was having actual symptoms, and actual test results that could potentially be indicative of something serious. Getting those kinds of things diagnosed (or being able to conclusively determine that there ISNT any sort of serious diagnosis) takes time. It's normal to feel concerned about that, and to worry about what it could be. I really think he had a pretty healthy/normal amount of anxiety given the circumstances. It's not like he was freaking out and terrified... The whole lupus thing was literally just "it COULD possibly be that, I had a test result that indicated it could be possible, and I do have similar symptoms". And then it became a huge joke/meme. It was never this actual huge serious emotional "OMFG GUYS I THINK I HAVE LUPUS 😭😭 IM SO SCARED!!!!!" it was just fkn "it could MAYBE be that but I don't know" and not even being emotional at the possibility..... And then playing along with the jokes when people started making them.

I have some significant medical issues (PCOS, Endometriosis, Hidradenitis Supperativa, and kidney stones) and my medical anxiety from the trauma of trying to receive help for those issues affects me deeply. Ethan advocating for his own health with a sense of humor has always been inspiring and empowering to me. I have been told that I cannot feel pain on my ovaries, since they don’t have any nerve endings while I had a ruptured cyst bleeding into my abdominal cavity (which hurt like hell). I’ve been told that if I had a kidney stone I wouldn’t be able to sit across from the doctor and tell him about it (I fucking did and ended up having to deliver my oldest child early because of it). I’ve been told excessive pain and bleeding after my C-section was totally normal and then needed multiple surgeries to remove scar tissue from endo later that week or I would have bled to death. I’ve been blamed for not appearing to be in enough pain so that the doctors could accurately diagnose me when I described WITH MY WORDS exactly how much pain I’m in, and I’ve been told that I was being hysterical when I screamed and cried in pain because I had lost all hope. There are so many stories like mine in these comments and so many of us have found some solace in Ethan’s medical journey. I hope he never stops advocating for himself and gets all of the answers he needs to achieve his best quality of life, something that is extremely difficult to do with the state of our medical industrial complex. I am currently 7 months pregnant with my second baby and every day I practice in front of a mirror, “I would like to request a different nurse/doctor,” and “I would like to speak to a patient advocate right now.”

I have a couple of points: Jacob knows what a joke is; he's being deliberately obtuse so that he can make Ethan look bad. It's like someone joking about running over their own grandmother for a Klondike Bar and being like "Oh really? You'd kill your own loved ones for a a trivial treat?!" Same goes for taking health-related Superchats and claiming that people are donating out of sympathy. You donate to get your superchat read by the streamer, which he knows as someone who livestreams on KZbin fairly often. It's clear to me that these people wanted to be a part of the conversation and offer their own knowledge and experiences. Finally, this came out in December, and he teased it beforehand as this major expose. What other devastating expose came out last month? Hbomberguy's video about plagiarism. He saw the success of that and tried to replicate it in some way. Allegedly-for-entertainment-purposes-only-in-Minecraft.

As someone with chronic illnesses, one of the universal experiences is spending months or years trying to figure out what is going on with yourself. I actually found a strange comfort in watching Ethan go through a similar thing even though he has far more resources and great medical care. The truth is that human bodies are weird and confusing and a lot of things are hard to diagnose, during that process you simply have to talk it out or it will eat you alive. Not knowing is so much scarier than figuring out possibilities and realizing you can learn to live with or treat them all; that's all i saw with Ethan's lupus saga, trying to find answers and find peace with potentials All this being said, i really do hope Ethan figures out what is causing these issues, nobody deserves to be dismissed even if their symptoms seem to be insignificant to an outside observer

I actually started watching Jake in 2023 because the algorithm was pushing him so hard (I follow Drew Gooden, Kurtis, Danny, Jarvis and the like, so I'm sure that's why). It honestly kind of feels like classic H3 with how funny Ethan has been recently.
Imagine if you were concerned about something with your health, so you went and got tested, and then when the results came back as non life-threatening, your doctor just clowned on you for 45mins straight… that’s the Jake Dolittle video in a nutshell! I watched a few Jake videos probably over a year ago now, about Trisha and Shane Dawson and initially I found him funny. But in subsequent videos, I noticed that every 30mins or so he would mention about needing to pay his rent, and give reasons as to why he and his girlfriend were struggling financially. He seemed to be very angry and bitter towards more successful creators, especially regarding their wealth. He’d become really angry and rant pretty extensively about their houses or whatever. Even though he was talking about people like Shane Dawson and James Charles, I couldn’t get onboard. He seemed so money hungry that I had my doubts about his charity, but never bothered to look into it. Just stopped watching instead.
@mekaylarobles11 ай бұрын
Exactly!! He has been getting more and more bitter and this video, to me, is a clear reach for views and money. He had hoped this would go viral. Thats why he kept it up for so long. He needs every view he can get. I mean he rarely hits 100k views. Literally only hits that when he talks about Shane Dawson. I also think the only reason he removed the video *during* the livestream is because he had hoped ethan was watching it on his channel, and would be stopped from this deep dive if he privated it. Unbelievable for him to scream and cry about ethan self diagnosing, and then literally diagnose ethan… as if he’s at all qualified. He had a chronic illness, therefore he’s an expert on chronic illnesses. Truly astonishing behavior.

At the beginning of Ethan's Lupus saga, I started to get similar inflammatory and symptoms with really high blood values for inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR). Its weird because we got the same tests around the same time, and honestly watching Ethan joke about it gave me so much relief. Throughout this process, about everyone in my life told me not to worry about it and started throwing out diagnoses like strained muscles, gluten intolerance, or gastrointestinal inflammation caused by poor diet. For context, I am also studying medicine so this is particularly irritating to me. People like Dr. Doolittle mad me think I was crazy for being worried, which is so destructive and self-absorbed-- something they teach us not to do to patients. Without a single risk factor, I was eventually diagnosed with a golf ball-sized blood clot in my femoral vein, also referred to as DVT (and later post-thrombotic syndrome which is chronic). This is extremely rare, (24 y/o F) so much so that my doctors had no studies to reference to treat women in my age group and relied on treatment recommendations for older or elderly populations. Nothing about Ethan's journey is offensive, if anything I find his transparency refreshing because it is normal to worry and try to find an explaination (its human nature!). He understands he is not a doctor, FFS he did a Lupus poll! Don't gatekeep chronic illness, its harmful and really stupid, with P+L :)

@syrupthemcheeks335 oooh so you are Jake🤭 or a stranger little wannabe minion. either way, ppl are allowed to have anxiety over their health status. degrading them for it is fucking gross. bye now
@syrupthemcheeks33511 ай бұрын
@@shorkelili See how you have to hedge your "joke"? Jakes thesis was definitely not "You're not allowed to have anxiety", and you're pretty degraded if you believe that. Have you checked your ANA levels?

I have chronic illness (an autoimmune disorder), and I wasn’t offended by the Lupus bit at all. I believe at one point Ethan was genuinely concerned he had Lupus. I had the same concerns for myself when seeking a diagnosis. But when it turned into a tongue-in-cheek joke about being a hypochondriac, I thought it was totally lighthearted and funny. We also don’t know yet that Ethan is okay. Maybe not Lupus, but getting a diagnosis can take time.

I had been a fan of Jake's for months now and also of Ethan for longer...I was honestly so upset with Jake when he posted this video and I stopped being a fan. After seeing all this harassment towards the H3 crew and everything they talked about in this podcast...this is just embarrassing for Jake. Waiting for you all to go on break and THEN posting the video is just so wrong and he did this with malice in his soul, despite being a fan for so long, and THEN only taking the video down while the podcast is going on...Jake wtf. I've lost all my faith in Jake and hope that he at least makes an apology and can own up to his mistake and grow from it.

I really liked him at first too and then I kind of noticed that his vibe low key changed the bigger he got and he became way more mean and came off like he thought he was above everyone. Like very much too confident for his own good. So I had slowly stopped watching him as much and then I didn’t even finish his video about Ethan. I cldnt believe it.

@@_namasteshay yes my thoughts exactly! I got the same feeling and I just stopped watching his videos all together 😭

@@_namasteshay the nickisnotgreen effect honestly. Jake is literally just throwing insults left and right in his vids, and specifically this one abt Ethan. such unnecessary shit and being so shady for nothing.

Yea im just like shit this is not what I was expecting at all been a fan of Jake's as well and really caught off guard with this video. It's like I wanna support Jake but idk anymore this one left me dumbfounded and just staring at the comments , I only saw maybe one or two people fully agreeing with jake on this video. I mean thousands of people were trying to warn him and everything that's being shown on the h3 podcast right now did not know about any of this shit that Jake did. Jake wouldn't talk about it at all and when I saw a tiny bit of Jake's live stream talking about a creator that everyone knew and what horrible thing they are doing was the only thing he said so I'm thinking this is going to be something super serious and boom ethans face pops up on his Instagram at one point and I'm like huh what's going on don't know what he did and he only took a snippet of what ethan said and made it seem like this man was scamming people and lying about medical stuff and I don't know much about ethan , never watched much of his stuff until 2023 since following Adam mcynter (sorry if I spelled the last name wrong for Adam) was a fan of Jake in 2023 and agreed with some things and other things were like ouch that was rough the more and more he put content out it seemed like he was becoming more angry , like you are mad at the content but you don't have to watch stuff and talk about stuff that will legitimately make you that mad . The more I hear about everything I'm just like yep this is not going well at all , I was expecting maybe a tiny bit of hate like he normally gets in some videos but everyone was trying to warn Jake to not do this like alot were being nice and just trying to help him out . I really didn't know alot of this that Jake did so I'm just left shocked about all of this. The amount of times I paused Jake's video and was like does this really seem like a good idea ? Is this going to be good ? Like I saw the entire thing and by the end of it I was like ooofff I don't know how to feel about this. At this point I feel like that big chunky white cat meme that keeps saying HUH??? HUh?? Over and over again

@todzzable I just think Jake just needs to take time offline and truly reflect on his videos and the direction he's been slowly going in. It's unfortunate to see a creator be so taken by anger that they refuse to reconsider uploading a video that so many people are telling you is harmful. He not only hurt Ethan, but he hurt other ppl who are going through a similar situation to Ethan. Jake clearly is very emotional about the topic, so I can see why he took everything so seriously, but he blew things out of proportion, took things out of context, and just repeatedly insulted and insinuated false things. It sucks to see cause I liked Jake's previous content. But right now I feel he has a victim complex, so I don't see him coming out with an apology anytime soon. If he does respond, I have a fear it will be rather deflective and/or passive aggressive.

What Jake did makes me so mad. He knows first hand how terrible it feels to have someone dismiss your symptoms or call you a hypochondriac and he does it to someone else. Hard to feel bad for him when he cries over hate comments saying his illness is fake
