Your thoughts are all sane. Regarding Mindcrack; I rather see you encouraged to play your Single Player series then trying Mindcrack without inspiration. As for UHC, you have Survival of the Fitest, which is a great replacement series, UHC seems old and you're right, it's the same thing every season/take. Im glad your still doing this and sees it as a bit of a hobby, it's your strongest strength (dont know if that is something you say :)) - What I mean is, loads of youtubers get to a point where they forget about the reason they are doing it, and just sailing on the clouds. Looking forward to your SP Modded series, gonna be interesting to see what you do. Keep it up Etho.

Wawasjohn for me, that have seen over 20 seasons of UHC (from different authors), I feel the concept are the same, but the SOTF is just adding options and depth to it.

The thing with Mindcrack is that the pattern now seems to be: Get a bunch of people excited for the server reset, everyone plays on it for two seconds, things quiet down a bit, distract everyone with a mess of mods server, reset the server again because no one is playing. Ironically something similar happens with the modded Mindrack, they're like a feedback loop. It'd be best if you guys would decide to just have one or the other, so that people would stick to it. Even if that was modded, it would be fine, it would get more attention, and I just wouldn't watch.

Also, as far as UHC is concerned, I stopped watching it when you stopped playing it. I mean, I like the other guys and all, but I find it more fun to watch when you're involved, even if you don't win. As for Don't Starve, I tried watching it but it was a bit too nooby. I'm excited for your next series based on it though.

totally agree mostly what is,imho hurting mindcrack is the resets. I mean you take a year or 2 watching something be built and then because we want the new stuff it is discarded like trash.... Don't get me wrong ive done it in my home plays but if I build something that takes a long while I add it to a special save file I have that's just empty space but it also has all my builds in it. I currently am loving bdubbs and ethos lps because they have the same world and they are not resetting.Not to mention the minecraft hype is starting to die a little because the market is so flooded with people lp'ing.

Hey Etho, just a suggestion, but maybe you could look into doing a semi-regular series where you invite someone else to join you, possibly a mindcracker you don't often play with, and do like a permadeath runthrough of a game such as don't starve, or maybe play a game with a short term goal, and when reaching that goal, that season will come to an end. Not only would it be a variety show of sorts, but also a way to chill out and let both audiences find out more about both you and your guest and the game you choose to play. Keep up the sterling work regardless :)

Etho, the way i see it. Every youtuber, heck, every person goes through seasons where they just dont feel inspired. They go into these phases of not really doing anything creative for a while. But when they come out of that phase, they go into a creative frenzy and make such great content. And i know thats exactly what youll do. Sorry people havent been very nice to you. The fact is that the people who love you and your channel just assume that you know they do, so they dont leave a comment encouraging you. Thats what leaves so many negative comments. Hello Etho and Fellow EthoFan ---Project Idea--- How about you build a base in the nether for episode 400 and you have to survive as long as possible without contact with the other world, all playing time is in the nether. No food allowed but you can prepare whatever you want until the day, e.g farms etc. However every episode start you must Attack a zombie pigmen with no safe areas within 20 blocks --Please like if think this is a good conclusion to this amazing world so many of us have enjoyed, thanks Etho 👍--

Etho, the reason mindcrack has been very fun in the past is that the prank wars kept all players just a little bit paranoid, even when offline one might worry. When you created the death games it was almost part of the prank wars, and almost sadistic blackmail at the same time. The actual death games building changed the server. It made players focus less on if their builds were safe and more on if they were safe, but that didn't matter if they weren't online. The reason builds being in danger is important is that when you log off they're less safe, when you log off you're invulnerable in terms of the game. If you want inspiration for mindcrack, bring back the prank wars. I don't mean like the newer pranks, I mean like the season 2-3 pranks. Dedicated pranks. Mean, ugly pranks that are a little rude. Something that takes forever to take down. You know what I mean... fill a base with water, put obsidian on some chests, cover a house with paintings, block out the sun with mushrooms, make a nametag for that one guy. Or you could be really dedicated... frame Zisteau... take over an arena... Drive BdoubleO100 crazy... wait it out... set traps... become the Z pranker. Pranks. Hardcore. Gritty. Pranks.

The great thing about the old pranks is they were malicious but very even in their own way, and that's the only time you got to see a mindcracker's mean streak. It was also the only time you could see a mindcracker even close to a ragequit. It felt more... human.

I think I can speak for most people here, we all support you! And please play what makes you have fun. I know you also have to balance in what viewers want. Etho don't be discouraged you can't always have every single viewer happy with all of your videos I honestly love every lets play you have done sometimes I get bored of playing the games you play myself but then watch your videos and want to play those games again. I also want to say that everyone can't win UHC every season and you always try and it is fun for you and that is why you play it. I agree when you say that KZbin is not fun when the "hobby" art goes out of videos. I have been watching since before "chocolate island" was founded. At this time my english was super bad and you was th best teacher. I was travelling around Europe since 2011 and could not really play Minecraft myself. Camping in middle of nowhere and hitchhiking everywhere, walking through forests or following a coastline for hundreds of km. I was reaching internet from restaurants or gazstations. You was my connection to the world, to get a rest and not getting mad because I was lost, like really, nowhere to go, and no clues in my mind, under the rain or over frozen. I love your creativity and a while ago you was supergood in PvP. The first Uncharted Territory was for me very impressive and "you've been Etho'd" was famous, don't you remember? I like when you try other games like Don't Starve, The Pit or Sam & Max. What I don't like, I simply don't watch. For example, I hate guns & vehicules in modded minecraft because it's full of bugs. During few episode you was a bit philosophical and I really apreciate that I hope you will share more interesting thoughts like episode 266 when you talk about time or to chose the right choice. It's always sad when people hate on perfectly good channels, especially because they can always leave. I understand that many people have very strong opinions and would like to share them, but they don't have to flame at the person that's put hard work into the content that they've created. On a completely different note, I'm totally cool with you temporarily halting progress on some of the series's that you aren't particularly enjoying. If you don't like it or have no idea what to do, people will notice, and I'm sure well over 95% of the people watching your videos have run into a similar brick wall in Minecraft. That's one of the reasons that I admire you. You never run out of ideas. Like, ever. Furthermore, you can pull off the most amazing projects. Once, I had a somewhat clear idea of what I wanted to do on a friend's server. Built a giant custom tree, got burnt out, never looked back. I love this channel because I get to see some really cool stuff that I surely could never do. For example: Floating Islands in FTB, A beautiful, yet functional base in Crash Landing, An enormous custom dark oak tree base (With 100% functioanlity!), A lovely little house in TFC (with a ridiculous amount of resources), And the humbling colossus that is the Man Cave Just to name a few. In the end, you're the best, Etho, and don't let any of those stupid haters ruin the best job in the world. P.S.: Hope you feel better soon!

Re-watching this 8 years later and the episode includes much of the things that kept me coming back and made this channel the one I’ve been subscribed to the longest. I haven’t watched every episode, like the “Don’t Starve” ones as I wasn’t that interested in that game, same with Terraria. But instead I watched other series, like the modded ones, several times so hopefully it evens up. I very seldom skip any of the ads as I normally do for random videos, only when they’re ludicrously long or stupid. Knowing that Etho do this because he likes playing the game makes it so much honest and enjoyable. He doesn’t try to boost his channel with cheap tricks, but as it also is he job he might hold back on some stuff like cursing which is honorable. Where I’m going with this? Oh, I don’t know … I just think Etho unites so many of us from totally different areas of the globe, ages and gender because he’s so Canadian … that might be a cliché as not all Canadians are so … Canadian. But whatever, we unite in the love for Etho and or loyalty comes of respect because he respects his viewers and treat us as his equals and friends. Yeah, that sort of what I tried to say. Etho u CAN get fireworks in Canada! However, they are illegal to be used unless it is a SPECIAL holiday, some examples are like Canada day and (i think) victoria Day. You just have to look for some trucks that say FIREWORKS on them. They are smaller than the ones u described in USA but they are still fireworks! Source: Im a canadian who buys fireworks in Canada sometimes :)

Yeah I'm in BC and we set fireworks on Halloween, Christmas, etc. They always have these big signs that are identical for any firework shop it says "FIREWORKS" in big red font. But I think that's just in my City.

I have an idea for a cool project you could do at the amplified base. So if you didn't know, you can use water streams to launch fireworks horizontally. Now imagine horizontal fireworks shooting out of the mountains walls. It could possibly look pretty neat :p

Etho, being frankly with you, I don't watch UHC Videos anymore because it is a little bit saturated. I think they need to stop doing UHC for some time, back then, UHC was a more interesting to watch cause there wasn't too much activities with almost all the Mindcrackers. And about your Mindcrack series give it a time to refresh like when you guys were only onto mods back then. And don't forget that we LOVE your videos for the reason that you always kept the simplicity of your vids and the person who you are.

You were the first KZbinr that I ever subscribed to back in the beginning of 2012 even though I had been on KZbin since 2009, I never really followed any series nothing ever caught my interest to be worth subscribing to. But one day I just saw you building this crazy contraption that compacted silver fish and I was sucked into the coolness, kept coming back to your channel that week and hit the sub button for the first time. You just have a really positive and mature personality in a friendly and laid back kinda way and it's real unlike an adopted persona for the camera. Since then I've never missed an episode of any of your main series because even after the 3 years I've been watching, you still manage to keep your videos interesting, whether it be the commentary or you always coming up with crazy new ideas that I'd never thought to make. Anyway just want to say thanks for all of the videos over the years. You put a lot of effort into your channel and your commentary, and you also take the time to interact with your fans so you definitely deserve a well mannered audience compared to some of the bigger channels. Anyway, sorry for the rant, but keep up the good work :)

I agree with the your thought on UHC, I often found myself watching the first episode and some of the next ones, until the standoff. I did find myself glued to my seat when I watched SoF. Maybe they would be more popular if they were a yearly or biannual thing. I'm sad that Material Energy did not work out but I am very excited for your modpack! Some of the people in UHC took it too serious, which in my opinion took some of the fun out of it. I would be fine with him playing and not recording it if he thinks he will get negative comments on it. I think the Mindcrack UHC's are a lot better than other UHC's for other groups because they have them spread apart about 1-2 months. Other channels have UHC's very often and they don't get as much hype. Hopefully Etho will participate in UHC season 20 and hopefully they decide to do a Race for the Dragon like the Reddit suggested.

Etho, whatever video you put here, I will watch it and probably like it. There have been a few times when I didn't like something you did/made, but I won't be a bad person and say that I hate it or something and point out your mistakes and then do nothing, that would be rude. Your videos are great, you are great, and honestly, I admire your work, by that I mean I appreciate your smiles and laughter in every episode and would like to be more like you - happy every day and enjoy doing things I like. I said "I" and "like" a lot, might change that.. As for UHCs and MindCrack, sometimes your inspiration goes away and you feel empty there, what you need is time to recover and find again what you liked in them to play them again, as you did before. Don't Starve (Together) is a fascinating game that is interesting to watch you play with Doc, you make a nice team! ^^ The one-shot modded series was nice, too bad you didn't keep playing it, I really thought that that was your own modded series, not something premade. To conclude all this text that was probably a bit boring to read: thank you for the videos and fun you shared with us. =)

To be honest, I like everything Mr. Slab posts. Even if it's not my cup of tea, I just check it out, don't judge and that's it. He really does his best and puts a lot of effort into it and I can see that and appreciate it. I watched every video Mr. Slab put out for the last 8 months and I'm never growing bored of it. Hey, Etho. I know I've watched your videos since like episode 100 something (here and there I watch your Etho Plays Minecraft series), and I haven't really commented on your videos much at all. However, there is always something about you that makes me keep coming back to watch you. I don't watch any other Minecraft player except you. Etho, I really hope you read this, because I think it could help in the future. I might try other ways to get the message to you; WARNING; This is basically a highschool essay on why I think you shouldn't worry and how to deal with the worries. Just look at the line count... This is important because not only does it give support NOW, but it will in the future too. You cannot, I repeat NOT rely on comments to gauge how much a group of people like a video. I don't know if there's a study for it, but I'm pretty sure we're genetically designed to react more noticeably when upset then happy. This is only exemplified in text form, as you don't have visuals. Thus, the ratio of happy to unhappy people who watched a video, is different to that of who commented. Now here's the part that helps in the future; you can tell how much people liked a video accurately, and its right on the bottom right; the like/dislike bar. For example, if the number of people who didnt like your actions in any of things you mentioned in the past were at all great enough to give acknowledgement, then the dislike bar on this video, at the very LEAST should be visible! As if people who are unhappy with a video are more likely to dislike it, every single person who you were alluding to that upset you who saw this video should have disliked it. But look at the bar! Doing the math, thats about .5% of your viewer base. And even if you cared about that as much as you do in the video, realize that I'm pretty sure that's the average amount of people who dislike every video you make anyway, and is still much better ratings then an average youtuber. Now, lets say your thinking "okay, but I want to be able to see how much my viewers are enjoying my video through there words". Well, we have a solution right with this video! Look what happened when you expressed your stress and worries. I'm pretty sure if there are comments here that are angry at you, they're disliked to oblivion and likely flagged so many times the youtube mods are taking a look at some of them. So, when your feeling unsure or unhappy about your comments, actually tell your viewers. Finally, the last situation; lets say, Notch forbid, you actually do get a video with much higher then average dislikes. Well, then its probably because the viewerbase didn't understand something. Or perhaps you let slip a controversial topic. Keep this in mind- so long as the videos after that one aren't also heavily disliked, then your viewerbase doesn't hate you for it. Perhaps you'll lose subscribers, but as long as you don't bring it up again they'll come back with time. I always like to think, if a person doesn't like my beliefs to the point of hating me, I probably don't want to try and appease them anyway, so its best the others left. If the future videos are disliked, then its probably more then a controversial topic. If it were just that, then the people who hated it would have left with a few videos. Perhaps your viewerbase misunderstood something you said, and aren't expressing it well. Perhaps You were in a really bad mood, and made a confrontational video because of it. If its for a reason you don't know, then ask them about it. At this point, after you ask them or if its a reason you know, then do this: Explain yourself. Literally pour your heart out with limits you enlist (such as not talking about personal stuff). It doesn't even have to be an exact reason, just showing your emotions. heck, if they misunderstood something even that won't be necessary. If it is, I don't think you should be afraid to act honestly. If you feel like sobbing during it, do so. Don't hold back, especially here, because holding back may even make it sound fake. Alright, woo. I think that was everything. I do hope you read this, as I think it could help for the future. Good luck!

Hey Etho for your modded series you should add in the portal gun mod. You may have used it before but if not it allows you to shoot 2 portals, then you can walk through one and appear where the other one is like a tiny nether portal. Although it is pretty over powered it is hard to get. But some cool features include: shooting a portal at the moon which will suck up blocks and mobs and boots that will allow you to take no fall damage. I know this is a little off topic on your vanilla series. But keep up your work (and don't work too hard and bet bored) and remember if people are mean to you and don't respect how you do your videos, I will always be there for you. Keep up the wonderful work.

Dear Etho, Here are my thoughts on some of your decisions about your series. The Mindcrack Server: I completely agree that it began to feel more like a single player. I haven't been enjoying it as much because there are so few collaborations, making it lose the multiplayer feel UHC: I always enjoy UHC, and I am kind of bummed out that you can't play it. I completely understand that you have problems with your sleep schedule. I'd rather have you get lots of sleep and make good content than put out bad content. You say you felt like it was kind of repetitive and felt the same every time. You would have really enjoyed this most recent UHC with the method that was used. Material Energy: I was looking forward to it, as it did look pretty neat, but I think it might have eventually become boring. I definitely agree that you probably have too many modded series. Terrafirmacraft: I was completely ready for this one to go. I definitely enjoyed the whole thing, but you pretty much had done everything. I don't really miss it at all. Once again, too many modded series as well. Crash Landing: I have enjoyed this series immensely, but I do feel that it is ready to come to a close. However, I'm happy for it to be replaced by your modded survival. It sounds like it is going to be awesome! I agree with you on everything except for terrafirmacraft. I love ethos series he did on that. He was never not happy in that series and I enjoyed watching him have fun about as much as I enjoyed the modpack itself.

In The Netherlands you can buy as much fireworks as you want from dec 28th - dec 31. You are allowed to egnite them on dec 31- jan 2. from 6 o' clock til 2 AM. In Belguim you can buy (Dutch) illegal firework all year. So a lot of Dutch people go to belgium,

this problem has bugged me too. the comment section has changed a lot. there were so many nice people, who had ideas and are friendly, interested and appreciated your videos end effort, but thats not the case anymore. every video i see those "where is mindcrack" or "crash landing sucks" comments and stuff like that. i really like etho, and i appreciate all his videos. if i don't like a series - i don't watch, but i respect his work and respect it for others, who like it. i don't want to come to a point, where he disables the comments, cause people like me couldn't help/ suggest/ ask or anything else. so please stop with this crap.

Hello Etho! :) I think you already know this, but I might as well say it. It really shows when you enjoy and when you are getting bored of a series! And the videos are a lot better when you are having fun! I really hope you'll start up Terra Firmacraft again, although I don't know how much content there's left. Isn't there like different climates in Terra Firmacraft? Maybe you could do some kind of adventure/travelling episodes to warmer climates. A series you did not mention in this episode is Fly Boys. I've not really enjoyed (but that's just me) the videos with gun mods that much, and that is kind of a big part of that series. I wish you rather put more effort into your own modded series! :) I love programming and I think I would like to watch you program on camera, but I don't know how the rest of your viewers would react. I think it's quite similar to redstone, where a few like it but many (especially those who don't understand it) dislike it. But there are even fewer who knows programming. Lastly, I would _love_ to see you working on the silverfish farm again. It was so long ago since last time! Could the auto-mining dream come true? Etho you need to do a prank with team canada sometime. try and work out a time with the other guys. maybe get zisteau to help too! (Posted this on Reddit as well but here we go) Thanks for the update Etho. I also have an suggestion for you. On the topic of other games, you often mention that a lot of people are negative towards non-Minecraft on your channel, and I think that is stopping you from playing games that you want to play. Accoring to your steam profile, you havn't LP:ed three of your most played games, even though I think a lot of people would want to see that. My suggestion for you is that you start a secondary channel, where you simply upload yourself playing the games that you play but don't upload. It doesn't need to be fancy or be very interesting, just upload it as is. I think a lot of people would really appreciate you simply playing The Binding of Isaac or Rust, for example.

That is one of the best ideas on here. Unfortunately the main problem would be time for Etho. Though those videos would be generally easy and less editing, it is still time that takes away from all the time he puts into the already awesome videos he puts up. Etho, The thick skin thing is easier said than done. One thing you should keep in mind though is that usually the people with the most insulting or degrading opinions fit within a extremely small minority (albeit, a very loud and persistent minority). One thing you should ALWAYS keep in mind is that you got where you are today by having the mindset that you do and being as good at what you do as well! The people looking to un-nerve you are in a sad way looking to fill something that is missing in their life by affecting you with their poison. By letting it have any affect on you in a sick way is a win in their book. It took me a long time to figure that part out, and I still have trouble at times not letting those types of people have any affect on me. I guess what I'm saying is: You keep doing you! You got a good head on your shoulders, and you are great at what you do! Your videos helped give me that push over the edge for me to play Minecraft. You bring the content.... I'll bring the snacks!!!

I don't usually comment on your videos but you made a point here: Honestly MindCrack has been dead for a while the new adding of people was just a way of keeping it alive but it did not work tbh. While I really enjoyed it, I as a viewer (some may not agree) was not excited to watch Mindcrack since it did feel like watching singleplayer all over again, a laggy singleplayer. Modded minecraft?I love all modded mc stuff you post for us, Crash Landing, was a fun series but it's a short series afterall once you finish quests whats there to do ? nothing. UHC I totally agree.. It just got boring on how often they are being made and so out of ideas.. Only watched it to support andrew (since im friends with him) Overall Etho, I along many others love whatever you do and respect your choices no matter what they are + the respect we have for you taking the mean comments from those who don't understand it's not easy to be a youtuber. Of course, I'm no doctor, but I would talk to one, or a counselor about it, it could help you get a hold of your sleep schedule, and many other problems that you're describing, along with your loss of interest in the things that you love!
