items in water on top of slime blocks travel faster than on stone but don't slide like ice. So that could make your item junction a lot more efficient! :) 2 slime blocks should do the trick! As for the item elevator - the fence that is a full "cross" should have a non-ice block underneath it - like stonebricks or dirt or something!

That wouldn't make any difference, the amount of lag caused = the amount of sides that the block has. Although maybe the way signs render in and out may make a difference

10TimesOver not necessarily. Signs are tile entities and too many tile entities in the loaded chunks can cause lag. so replacing all the signs with half slabs would make a lot of difference but I don't see it as a thing Etho would do, at least with the hard to access signs...

Sancarn Alternately, dropping the central junction down a block might help, as that allows items to fall and hit the block below, stopping them from bouncing around in the stream.

***** 120Gb should be enough for just programs. I have a 120Gb SSD with Windows 7 Ultimate and about 40 programs and I still have 54Gb free. I have moved all my Libraries including Documents, Downloads etc, and the default Temp folders to my HDD so that they don't fill up my SSD. Really, if you take some time and manage your SSD and folders 120Gb is just fine. If you want to record to a SSD than of course you'd need a bigger one.

Etho, Your sorting system will unfortunately break really fast unless you change it. As it is currently, it will break as soon as the storage for an item gets totally filled up. Here's an example: let's say you have a large amount of stone, you have so much that it fills up the whole stone storage, (this WILL happen.) When the whole storage is filled up the hopper that sorts out the stone will begin to fill up. Once fully filled up the comparator next to the hopper will give out a signal that is to high, this means that it will cross over to the other sorters next to the stone sorter and break them. To fix this you would have to change every individual sorter to the newer sorter version, which will take a lot of time and it might not be possible since you would have to move a lot of the other redstone as well. I hope you understand what I have written here (Im Swedish =P) since it is a serious problem that needs to be adressed.

Buy a 1TB SSD & copy over your OS drive to it using a drive duplicator. I recently grabbed the Dyconn Dubbler Dock Drive Duplicator. It also functions as a two drive dock via USB 3.0. Using a 2TB WD Black edition drive i see read/write speeds of 160-170mb/s. I use it for my steam library & random files and I'll probably pick up another for pure recordings. I highly suggest it as a dock/drive duplicator.

About your SSD; First of all, never NEVER defrag a SSD. It will not speed or clean it up, it will, however, shorten the lifespan of the drive. Secondly, if you haven't already moved your libraries (like documents, pictures, music etc) to your HDD instead of SSD that should be the first thing to do. Another thing you can try is to use CCleaner and the already installed Disk Cleanup tool to clean up your drives. There is another great tool called TreeSize (Free) which scans your whole drive and gives you a list sorted by folder/file size so you can easily find out what files/programs take up most of your SSD. Just make sure to first research a file/folder on Google before deleting it :P

Etho! I run 2 SSD's, one with my OS and one with lots of games and editing programs on it (I'm a video producer by trade) so I know your pain with HDD's becoming full. I can't recommend the program CCleaner enough - it deletes temporary and unnecessary files quickly and easily. It's a life saver! I'm sure I won't be the only one suggesting it but it'll probably ease your storage issues =) Keep up the great work.

***** Nope. I am always careful using it when I'm working on a video as your editing/vfx program will likely have to re-create temp files. But so long as I use it once I'm done with a project I don't lose time. Never lost any program files or anything that's caused an issue with the OS - same can be said for my colleagues who run it. When your items reach the spot in the transport system on the ice/water stream on their way to the control panel, you can just lower the combined flow by one block, and place a glass pane over it so the items run into the pane and fall into the combined flow without as much delay.

Hey Etho! About your SSD problem: I would recommend getting an anti-virus software that comes with a auto disk clean up feature. I have one on mine and I run it once amount, it usually cleans up around 8gigs~ from my C drive. I can't give you any names because the brand of my anti virus software hasn't made an English version yet.

Michael Cottow I think using a program like CCleaner and letting it clean on boot is much easier. It doesn't require you to switch virus-scanner (which can be quite a hassle), and if it is set to clean every time you boot it is going to be done in about 5 seconds. This is the way I have done it for years and I would recommend it to everyone else.

Etho, an easy way to make that item delivery go a little faster is to drop the last section down a block or two so the items can't cross back into the opposite lane. With the alignment stream making the channel two wide at the mouth, there shouldn't be an issue of the item going too fast and skipping over the drop.Just he first think I thought of when that part popped on

We don't know his name for sure, though some really smart individual has found him based on where he works and released pictures of him on the Internet, but Etho managed to take them down.

In canada you get to learn french by standard ciriculum.

Bill Smith In a normal public school in BC*, kids have to take french from grades 4-8. After that, you can take it as an optional elective. Many students continue taking it because it is an entrance and/or exit requirement in many universities. If a kid is in a french immersion school, they learn french as if it were the main speaking language (From what I've been told, using english isn't very encouraged). They learn _Canadian_ french, while kids who take the elective learn _France_ french. Many kids drop out of immersion around grades 5-8 because they struggle to keep up. *The school systems in Canada are controlled by the province, and therefore will vary a bit depending on where you take your education. For example, Alberta's education system is very different from British Columbia's system, considering they are geographically close and a part of the same country. I think in Quebec French is the main language with English probably as an optional elective... I'm not sure if they are forced to learn a second language. TL;DR - if Etho grew up in Canada, he most likely knows a bit of French but has forgotten most of it by now.

Chibi Chika In Québec, French is effectively the main language, but we are forced to learn English (has it is part of the main courses) from grade 1 to college (which is called a cégep here btw). But the whole education system is quite different has the cégep/college we have in Québec would be equivalent to some sort of grade 12 and grade 13 for other Canadians. However from our middle and high school to cégep/college the student are split in different English classes according to their English level.

Frederic Cadieux Interesting! Do you take english provincial exams? In french immersion students have to take an extra french exam in grade 10 (in addition to 3 provincials in grade 10, 1 in grade 11 and 1 in grade 12). We don't have a grade 13, high school only goes up to 12. Any more than that and it would be time at a college or university. *Note: in Alberta they have like grade 40~ish instead of grade 12... I'm not sure how it works, but I think it's the same number of years.

Try a progam called CCleaner. It clears up a lot of temporary files and other non-essential stuff. Overall makes your computer run better as well, after a good clean-up.

A lot of people have mentioned CCleaner... But it doesn't only clean temp. files. It also has a feature called "duplicate file finder". Name says it all. Also, if you haven't already, I would advise you to navigate to your Users folder (ex. C:\Users\Etho\) and change the location of all folders such as "Desktop", "Documents", "Downloads", "Pictures", etc. to your HDD. Might help if you save/download data without thinking about where. You can free up space equal to your RAM by disabling hibernation, by decreasing the size of the page file or moving it entirely to your HDD (how to do that is quickly googled) and disable search indexing on your SSD (it's only needed on HDDs, but Windows often does it on SSDs anyway).

for the item elevator you need to slow the blocks down before they enter it, so starting from the fence post that connects to all four sides go three blocks out to the water stream (keep those three blocks as ice) and then the next three blocks switch out with regular blocks like stone and then you can go back to using ice. As for the pillar to be on the safe side fill a 3 x 3 area just incase.

SSD are great, but you might want to move some of the default folders to your second drive. LIke your Downloads folder, or your user folders. These can take up a lot of space and moving them will save you a lot.

I have the same issue with my wife and I's drives. We're both running 128GB SSDs and they filled up rather quickly. You can move your My Documents folder to your traditional drives and periodically purge your temp files and caches. The only things I have on mine now are the OS, Minecraft (active saves), and a couple game servers. Runs well.

Etho, the problem with the item elevator is that the block underneath the final fence has to be a solid block, like stone, not ice. Otherwise the items will be moving too fast and pop out of the back of the elevator.

Hey Etho what I recommend is opening up the thing that gives u access to all of ur files (can't think of the name right now) click on computer, right click on ur c drive (the ssd) then clicking disk clean up, it's good to every once in a while hope this helped

Hey Etho, there's a program called TreeSize, and it tells you how big all your folders and individual files are, it will help you easily locate files that are large. Also, you should check if you have virtual memory enabled, because it will simulate RAM on your SSD and take up something like 16 GB. So you may want to have a look at that. You Right Click Computer -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings (On the left of the window) -> The Advanced Tab -> Performance box, Settings... -> Advanced Tab -> Virtual Memory Box, Change. That will show you all your virtual memory, and you can mess with it if you want, just set it to your 3TB HDD because it really doesn't matter. Hope this helps, keep up the great videos!

Etho small SSDs are quick to reload because you don't spend so long trying to get everything back, its on the other HDD. A program called space sniffer can help you hand clean up a disk.

Files on your desktop fills up the SSD, i.e zip files, folders etc., try moving those into your HDD and create shortcuts. Also, move the "Downloads" folder to the HDD to clear up even more space :) Had a folder on my PC that took up 60GB of space on my SSD

Etho, in order to shorten the time to get your items, even if it is only by a little bit, where those two water streams meet under the control panel, simply drop that part down a block, put a sign to stop both streams, and then it is only one block wide and wont go back and forth on the ice.
