Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we'll be taking a look at our Rightline Gear truck bed tent, right here at etrailer. So you have your truck and you usually use it for truck stuff. So that can be like helping people move or carrying a large cargo, but what if you also like to go out on adventures and you have your tent and you like to go tent camping Did you know you can get the best of both worlds with the help of a truck bed tent like what we have here So this is the Rightline Gear truck bed tent. It will help you out by getting you up off the ground. So you can still enjoy that fun tent life from the comforts of your truck bed.
Comparing this to other tents, you get two types of pants. One is your regular tent that you stick down to the ground. You have it on the grass or on the ground, or you could have a ladder rack or rooftop-mounted tent. So compared to those, I would prefer this. You get more stability compared to a normal tent and this is so much easier to set up compared to a rooftop tent.
So we'll take a look at some of the features of our truck bed tent, just to see if it's easier to set up, how does it work and how does it fit on your truck. So the rain fly just quickly goes over the top of the tent, and then it has these buckles on each side. That secures it to your tent, and just like that, your windows are covered and your tent is completely waterproof. So what we have set up right now is the smallest version because we have this on our Jeep Gladiator. So that's a five-foot short bed, but you can get this four different truck beds of different shapes and different sizes.
So this can range from your five-foot beds, all the way up to your eight-foot beds. Make sure you get the right ones though because we have some for compact beds, for mid size beds, for full size beds. You can find all of them right here at etrailer.com though. Now let's talk about what's it like living on the inside. So here in our Jeep Gladiator, which is a smaller bed and a smaller tent, the measurement from the center of the truck bed to the top of the tent was about 50 inches.
Now we have a mattress here too, so that decreases our height to about 44 inches. And right at the top, you have that tent hook there, which is ideal for if you want to just hang a lantern or a light, like our Goal Zero lantern here. So this tent sleeps two people, and that really depends though on the size of your truck bed for your exact size measurements. So if you have a larger bed, you might be comfortable with two people. If you have a short bed, you might be comfortable with one. One thing to know though is that it's not insulated at all. It's more breezy and light and cool, if anything. So if the weather does get cold, make sure to pick up some sleeping bags and blankets to keep yourself warm while you're inside the tent. So the tent includes everything you need to set it up, but I recommend adding some other things just to make sure that your adventure is a little bit more comfortable. Some of the things I'm using here are blankets from Kelty. This sleeping bag is from Kelty as well. Up here, I have a lantern, so that's from Goal Zero. They have a smaller version as well that will fit right onto your tent hook and will provide light for the inside of your tent. Now the most important thing that I think should be paired with this Rightline Gear tent is a truck bed mattress. So what I have here is the Rightline Gear truck bed mattress just because it fits perfectly inside the Jeep Gladiator. But for your larger trucks, I recommend taking a look at the AirBedz truck bed air mattresses. If they do fit around your wheel well, they have special wheel well inserts or cutouts and make for a really nice, almost custom-fit mattress. So many different features here that just adds to the experience. One is since it is waterproof, you wanna make sure that all your seams and all your sides are tamped down. So notice how these side seams come up over your truck bed lip. That adds an extra waterproofing experience. That way, you don't have any openings over here to the side. That same thing can be found right where our zippers are 'cause you notice how this has a lip that goes over those zipper holes and helps the water just loose down. And then on the bottom as well to the side, you have this zipper which opens up the door. So that zipper can be accessed from the outside or from the inside, from wherever you are. Good demonstration of how to set up this truck bed tent. Like that it can fit over a trifold hard bed cover and also work with the Rightline SUV tent for even more space out of the weather and bugs. Also like that stuff in the bed doesn't need to come out to put up tent. Win win.!
