I'm able to record 24/7 to the HomeBase with the C31 just like my E330 Pros. It says only events, but you can view the continuous recording.

I got an error on mine when I go to the timeline stating I don't have a storage device for continuous recordings.. and supposedly I have the latest firmware on the doorbell and on my HB3. I'll retest it next time.

Eufy rep told me that the C31 does fully support 24/7 continuous recording on the homebase 3 if you install a HDD and C31 is in wired mode and connected to the HB3 utilising bionic HB3 feature. The C31 only has the Live video call that rings your phone and the HB3 will support this via firmware update end of November. I have the C31 video doorbell and so far I'm not impressed as it has terrible WiFi signal. My dual camera video doorbell didn't loose WiFi reception at all even when connected to the HB3. This C31 loses WiFi too my gaming router and to the HB3. My parents also suffer from this issue too. Our routers are Asus RT-82U and Asus DSL-82U so excellent gaming routers. Unfortunately there's serious bugs in the firmware and hardware issues on the C31. They definitely went with cheap WiFi parts. My HDD is arriving tomorrow so I'll test the continuous recording to see if the "recording events only to HB3" changes.

I formatted it and turned on in C31 settings "continuous recording" For some reason in the "homebase connection" section it's still showing "only events are being recorded to HB3" so I waited and checked "Playback" and low and behold the bar turned blue. It's now continuous recording to my 4TB HDD in my HB3 connected to my router via ethernet, C31 is wired to 18v ac-ac power transformer adapter. I have noticed the 4 second buffer with motion detection doesn't always give the pre buffer so I do miss the events when I playback. Eufy needs to fix that. I can however manually search the continuous recording and watch before the event starts.

@@Technology-pe6rc Yes. You can go into playback in the app and it'll snap to all of the events. As it's recorded 24/7 you can also slide to any of the bar. But continuous recording is only supported with HB3 with HDD laptop size or SSD. And C31 powered by mains.

This new doorbell also boasts some sort of radar and some kinda overhead view. Ring now offers a call like experience now when someone rings your doorbell as well. Debating on moving on from Ring Pro Doorbell and cameras to the Eufy ecosystem because of the lack of 2k or 4k cameras. How would you compare the experience? My favorite thing about Ring is it never misses a notification and so fast to load notifications and alerts. Very fast to live view. Just terrible video quality. Worth switching or should I stay put?

I haven't revisited this doorbell or the app since I reviewed it but there might be a setting that you need to turn on in the app for the chime. Also, don't jump the wire on your chime box.

What the KZbin video from Eufy on how to wire it. There are two ways to wire it. One where you keep your existing chime but you don’t get Prerecording and 24x7 recording and the other where you can keep using your existing doorbell but you don’t have these features since the battery will be used to power the doorbell (yes, I know it is connected but these wires just charge the battery in this mode)

I ended up going for the TP-Link Tapo D235, it offered a much more complete feature set. What put me off eufy was that it required at least 16v hardwired and also doesn’t come with a chime so you have to purchase that separately or buy a very expensive eufy Homebase, which will then also activate further activity features. The Tapo D235 came with a chime and everything works straight away out of the box, and can be hardwired to older houses with 8v. My advise is to go with TP-Link Tapo D235

@@oualid.y I've had it about a month now and my experience is that its exceptionally good. It does indeed record 24/7 continuously. The daytime vision/quality/field of view is terrific, the event detection is spot on, and the night vision really excels - both IR black/white and night colour vision. High recommended

@@oualid.y don’t go with Ring, their subscription plans are outlandish and the camera quality is meh compared with Eufy or Tapo. I didn’t go with Eufy because of the extra voltage requirement for hardwiring and the fact you have to purchase an expensive Homebase for chime or activity detection functions. On the Tapo the notifications are really quick and ring just like a regular iPhone call, when you accept it takes just seconds for the video to show

Eufy has a huge, but easy to fill hole in their line. I want to keep my external lockset, so my door looks good. I want them to offer Eufy 330 to mount inside on the door, but mount the external part with keypad/doorbell in doorbell location. This also means it could be hard wired. It makes so much sense. It's basically what Aqara does with Smart Lock U200

I've just set this up but the pictures on their site make it look like the 4:3 fills your entire phone screen. This is not the case though, it looks more like a 16:9 ratio to me. There is also no Video call option ( I assume they have only enabled it for the US so far) ?

Lifehackster, does the doorbell allow for “multibridge” where you can utilize your WiFi to enable the device to be further from your HomeBase? Some of the Eufy cameras have it and some dont. Without that feature you have to keep your devices quite close to the HomeBase to enable the 24/7 recording.

Nope. You can only choose one or the other. Recording 24/7 requires you to use the jumper wires connecting the Front and Trans terminals which will result of not activating your chime. If you are not using the jumper wire, then the 24/7 recording option will no show up.

@ Nope. If you want the chime then no jumper wire but if you want true wired then you have to install the jumper wire to give constant power to the doorbell.

earlier eufy models had a chime speaker you can plug into any outlet in your house. the advatange was that you could put multiple chimes in different locations. this was a workaround because tbe doorbells at the time could not yet be integrated into a house's own doorbell chime... now that they added the capability of using an existing house's chime, the question lies whether it is also compatible with eufy's power outlet speaker chimes. if it is then that would be awesome since it gives users options. if not, then eufy is trading capabilities again with another empty promise. since they promised house chine capability and did not say they would remove functionality... and also another empty promise of the earlier model doorbells eventually being home base compatible.
