Hi I’m John from Italy I’m a big fan of your channel. I have a topic you can try that no one had done on KZbin. Here in Europe it is quite common for thieves to avoid detection in alarms (for wireless application’s) by using frequency jammers . I was wondering how this applies to the security camera world. My hypothesis is that wifi based systems would succumb to the interference and non record anything to the cloud or base station (as in the case of the Eufycam) leaving only the reolink Eco or argus to record to se this crating a safer system even though there is the risk of it being stolen. Would you be able to do a video to see which systems could better protect under this type of cyber attack. Thanks for all the great videos… love your channel. John

the original bullet style Eufy evercam Homebase does have some type of artificial intelligence for humans detection if you already have a photo of such person on your phone. Plus it have battery backup. I tested it disconnected the AC charger and internet plug and it still records the video it would notify you as soon as the internet is back up. This is a feature that very limited WiFi cameras have this day. So far I like it I think is a step ahead of the Arlos.

Although the battery life is rated at 1 year (and I assume is rechargeable), there doesn't appear to be an option of physically replacing the battery once it reaches end of life (~ 3 years). That would be a deal breaker for me.

Hi Gabe! Can you do a review of the eufy cam 2c?
@yourpcmd
@yourpcmd 4 жыл бұрын
Let me add this bit of crucial detail that the reviewer left out. The Eufy batteries will typically last 3-4 years. You CANNOT replace the batteries. This makes the $180 cameras disposable whereas the Arlo, Alro Pro, Arlo Pro 2, etc. batteries ARE user replaceable. In the long run, you will spend a great deal more with the Eufy versus the Arlo. And I will add, I bought the Eufy and returned it for lack of user replaceable batteries and I now have the Alro Pro 2 four camera system and the video and audio is superb AND yes you do have the option for local storage - no monthly fees. You also have the option for cloud storage, again, with no monthly fees. Eufy has cloud storage too, but no free storage at all. Beware of reviewers being paid by the manufacture or receiving the product for free for a good review. For clarity: Eufy 2 camera system is $255 on Amazon. Each additional camera is $180. So 4 camera system would be $615. No replaceable batteries. Batteries die after 3-4 years, buy new cameras. Local storage with volatile SD card up to 128 Gb/s. Best to use SD cards for use in dash cams. Arlo Pro 2 two camera system is $292 on Amazon or $550 for the 4 camera system. Each additional camera is $130 (Pro 2) or $100 (Pro). Alro Pro 2 base station is backwards compatible with the Alro Pro cameras. Replaceable batteries. Batteries die after 3-4 years, replace batteries. Local storage with USB flash drive OR USB external hard drive up to 2 TB/s. Best to use an SSD drive.

In almost every category the eufy beats Arlo hands down, especially in battery life. But it's the battery in the eufy that really bothers me, since it is non-replaceable. What happens after a few years when the battery has reached a point when it no longer works anymore (which by many estimates is in the 3-5 year range)? You might be facing chunking one or more cameras at some point in the future. If eufy comes up with a model with a replaceable battery, then I'm on board.
@SecurityDotOrg
@SecurityDotOrg 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, the eufy battery is rechargeable. One charge lasts a year. More info here: bit.ly/2FA8clq
@5thGenNativeTexan
@5thGenNativeTexan 4 жыл бұрын
@@SecurityDotOrg I understand that the battery is rechargeable. My comment was more specifically to the life expectancy of the battery itself. Even the latest LiOn batteries have a finite life on how many discharge / charge cycles they can take. When used outdoors, the life cycle of the batteries can diminish even further when subjected to elevated temperatures. A conservative estimate is that the battery pack will only survive 3-5 years before it will need to be replaced because it won't take, or hold, a charge anymore. This is distinctly why Arlo batteries are replaceable. Batteries will eventually reach an end of life, or have early failures. When this happens with an Arlo, you swap out the battery. Today, if this happens with an Eufy, you'll have to toss the entire camera in the trash. Also, regardless of the lifecycle of the battery, you'll face downtime on your Eufy cameras when they need to be recharged, versus on an Arlo you can simply go around to each camera and swap out the battery with a fully charged one (assuming you have an additional set of Arlo batteries in standby).

It's November now and wonder what's your opinion is on eufy vs Arlo pro 2. I went to Arlo community and they seems to hate the arlo. Hi was hoping you could help me decide between Arlo pro 2 and eufy. My concern is the motion detection is horrible according to people on Amazon reviews and along with recording longer videos on eufy. In your video you say there is a delay to record in eufy and are theses issues happening on Arlo pro 2 from your experience? cause I have people say that also. Sorry for all the questions just trying to have something that will record when someone comes up to the door and I can talk to them . I don't want theses features to start working as they get back in there cars thanks for your help
@SecurityDotOrg
@SecurityDotOrg 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Harold, I haven't had any delays but that's really going to depend on your Internet connection. No problem! So if you don't already have the eufy HomeBase, the Arlo Pro 2 is going to be cheaper by about $30, but if you have the HomeBase, the eufyCam E is cheaper by about $40. They both have 1080p HD video, IP ratings of 65, two-way audio, local storage, and Alexa integrations. The Arlo Pro 2 also works with Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, IFTTT, and Stringify, and person detection is optional if you buy Arlo Smart home. It also has a loud siren and can zoom in 8 times. Plus, you get 7 days of free cloud storage, while eufy only has paid cloud storage options. The eufyCam E has a larger temperature range, a field of view 10 degrees wider, and better night vision. Overall I'd definitely go with the Arlo Pro 2, mainly for it's person detection and superior smart platform integrations. The EufyCam E range is absolutely horrendous and cannot be improved by software. Basically if there are walls between the base and the camera(s) the range drops dramatically...I'm talking like less than 30'. And depending on what type of wall (say an old house where metal mesh was used to hold plaster) it will be even less. Because Eufy generates a custom WiFi from the base for the cameras, an off the shelf repeater will not work. And Eufy has no repeaters nor ways to strengthen the signal (there is someone out there that added an antenna to their camera in hopes of making it better capture the weak base WiFi). The motion detect is so laggy that 3-5 seconds go by before it starts recording. So if someone runs past the camera at 5mph the camera will miss it. For me, I have the two camera setup and so happen the camera in front and rear corner of my house has near line of sight because the room has two windows within 15' of where I mounted the base (which itself is getting its ethernet from a TP-Link extender--think of it as a long ethernet cable that allows me to move the base station closer to the cameras, not move the cameras farther from the base. Also, if you have iPhone "Do Not Disturb" set (say at night so you can sleep between 10:30p and 4:30a) you will not get any security system notifications. To work 'around' this, I make the base sound the siren in my house all the time (oh, because you cannot schedule the frickin siren either) so while my phone is quiet at night, I can hear an alert when cats or possums are roaming my property 99% of the time and maybe 1% there is someone actually walking near my camera at night. But I have no choice. You cannot add Eufy's own doorbell camera to the base. I accept mine as a two camera system--its better than nothing. I will not by any additional components for the system. Oh, did you dig their crazy pricing? An additional camera is $180! I would NOT recommend this system unless you have zero obstacles between the base and the camera...only then are Eufy's outragous claims of 3k sq foot range (which could be a 55'x55' property...see how math makes it not impressive anymore?) even approachable...like monitoring an open field from an open window.
