Buy the EufyCam E 2-camera set at amzn.to/2L2oWaU
Our verdict of the EufyCam E: 8/10 - Easy-to-use app, reliable motion recording, great image quality, and long battery life make the EufyCam E a good all-in-one wireless security package. But if you need to cover a large area or have signal problems indoors, better look elsewhere.

It’s a great product but the downfall is the non removable/replaceable batteries. The batteries will last around 3 yrs before you have to replace cameras-and thats not cheap. They need to change that and I’d be a loyal customer.

Why do you say 3 years Is that from personal experience or just your opinion

I like Anker products, not expensive normally, and usually extremely well built with a good warranty (not that you will need it). I provided these have suitable open CODEC (or well supported CODEC) I'd seriously consider this.

In almost every aspect the Eufy's beat the Arlo's. But the non-replaceable battery is a non-starter for me. Early battery failures, which there always are, will make for an expensive entire-camera replacement. Put a replaceable battery in it and I'll buy 8 of them right now to replace my wired cam system.

You failed to mentioned the best thing about EufyCam - It can work with a NVR and NAS system, something no other completely wireless Security Camera system does... I was originally looking at Unifi's camera range, but they're not offering a self-host version of their new Protect software.
@MakeUseOf
@MakeUseOf 5 жыл бұрын
Yeh, that's a major shortcoming of the otherwise lovely Unifi system. Eufycam is expensive if you just want to hook it into another NVR. Have you looked at the Reolink range?

@@MakeUseOf Yes, their standard range still needs cabling, and the Argus Range, is cloud-only. EufyCam is the only true-wireless solution that gives you NVR/NAS storage... The other brands like Arlo, Ring and ReoLink Argus are all trying to make these "walled gardens" and tie users into subscription for their Cloud storage - I have no issue with this them offering storage, but they outright refuse to add support for local storage, which is a big no-no for me, for various reasons, but mainly you're beholden to them to keep the service running, if they pull the plug (as has happened before) or put up prices, you've got no other options.

You're absolutely right, this was just a temporary enclosure while we finished their place by the stream. They grew a lot quicker than we expected, much faster than chicks do which is what we're used to! They've moved into their final home now, complete with nice big pond and fresh running water.

Great review! I was considering an Arlo but the short battery life was a turnoff, so this seems like it could be the right thing.

Let me add this bit of crucial detail that the reviewer left out. The Eufy batteries will typically last 3-4 years. You CANNOT replace the batteries. This makes the $180 cameras disposable whereas the Arlo, Alro Pro, Arlo Pro 2, etc. batteries ARE user replaceable. In the long run, you will spend a great deal more with the Eufy versus the Arlo. And I will add, I bought the Eufy and returned it for lack of user replaceable batteries and I now have the Alro Pro 2 four camera system and the video and audio is superb AND yes you do have the option for local storage - no monthly fees. You also have the option for cloud storage, again, with no monthly fees. Eufy has cloud storage too, but no free storage at all. Beware of reviewers being paid by the manufacture or receiving the product for free for a good review. For clarity: Eufy 2 camera system is $255 on Amazon. Each additional camera is $180. So 4 camera system would be $615. No replaceable batteries. Batteries die after 3-4 years, buy new cameras. Local storage with volatile SD card up to 128 Gb/s. Best to use SD cards for use in dash cams. Arlo Pro 2 two camera system is $292 on Amazon or $550 for the 4 camera system. Each additional camera is $130 (Pro 2) or $100 (Pro). Alro Pro 2 base station is backwards compatible with the Alro Pro cameras. Replaceable batteries. Batteries die after 3-4 years, replace batteries. Local storage with USB flash drive OR USB external hard drive up to 2 TB/s. Best to use an SSD drive.

That's a fair point, but I'd question your battery life estimates. Modern Li-Ion batteries don't die in 3-4 years.

Great review! Wireless cameras should be complimented with solar panels to eliminate the need for recharging. Ideally also have AI to help reduce false notifications! Having a base station is great, as one can still review footage in case a battery does run out or get's stolen. This is the future.

This guy has no business doing reviews. Claim about one WiFi network not interfering with or clogging up another is largely nonsense! WiFi networks use overlapping channels and so often interfere with others in range of each other. Claim about an additional hop causing the 1-15 second delay is largely nonsense too! (0.01 seconds, tops!) . The delay is due to buffering.
@MakeUseOf
@MakeUseOf 5 жыл бұрын
Wifi networks overlap by one or two channels either side. I'm well aware of that, thanks. You can pick two non-overlapping channels, they do exist. www.makeuseof.com/tag/when-defaults-are-bad-how-to-pick-a-unique-wireless-channel-for-your-router/
