You've been floating round my recommendations for a bit now but this is the first of your videos I've watched. I'm for sure coming back 😁 Strange it would be a bicep video though, I have little interest in biceps... wonder why I clicked 🤔 glad I did though, now, where's that quad video. EDIT: Just a thought, what about using bands for the archer so you get an inverted strength curve to the preacher? Particularly if you aren't going to be loading it too heavy... I'm actually kinda excited to train biceps now (up til now chin ups are basically all I've ran with).;

Good God, this guy is extraordinary. I've been watching fitness/bodybuilding KZbinrs for years now. He discusses things I've never heard anyone else touch on. The way he talks about everyone's unique body structure, then be able to go into detail about how these differences come into play, in such specific ways, is amazing. For example, "carrying angle". He mentioned joint strain at about the 6:33 mark. I've noticed that when I'm doing standing barbell/EZ bar curls, that I constantly have to jerk my right shoulder forward after every few reps, I guess to alleviate built-up, I don't know, pressure. I don't have this issue when I'm doing preacher curls though. I guess this is one of those structural things, and it's only on the right side. I can't wait to dig into more of his videos to find more nuggets of gold concerning structural issues. ***EDIT*** He mentioned it again a little later when talking about DB preacher curls. I've avoided them in the past b/c they felt awkward. I would try to line up the same on both sides and it just felt weird. Now that I know why, and that it's okay to hit them from different angles on each side, I'll give them another shot. Knowing is half the battle!

Love this. I have slight scoliosis and the easy bar is terrible for me for my biceps. My arms are both in different positions and I have to adjust my body to get the same pump for all my muscles. This helped confirm my deeper doubts. Thanks so much for this

I'm glad you, a bodybuilder, acknowledges how boring biceps training can be, especially for us powerlifters who romanticize one rep maxes and maximal loads. I only trained biceps when I was in college as an excuse to stay in the gym longer. That was the sole reason. After I left college and there were no gym hunnies and the new gym I went to was more lonely, I just left when I was done with my powerlifting movements. Then, I developed elbow pain whenever I benched. So recently I've been curling for the sole purpose to try to fix my current elbow pain.

I'm so glad, that I've found this channel. He mentions all the things others tend to ignore. E.g. the straight barbell. I can use it to train my biceps, but nowhere near my maximum weight because of said restrictions in body anatomy and also the assymetry of my body. I prefer the curled barbells or even better the single armed dumbbell. He also likes to execute the exercies the way I prefer (e.g. bench press without a bridge) and always shows slow, clean and controlled movements.

I train my Biceps directly on my Pull day, as well as my arm and delt day. My favourite bicep exercises are: 1) Overhand Bicep Cable Curl -I like this becuase it trains the bicep with the hand in a pronated position. I sometimes superset this after I hit failure, by switching to a supernated grip to failure 2) Seated Incline DB Curl -I find this gets a good squeeze at the top of the movement and a really good stretch at the bottom. Love the vids!

I'm a female and love training biceps and arms in general. My two favourite bicep exercises would be the good old bicep curls whilst seated at an incline as I feel like it stops momentum and I get a better range. Secondly, underhand chin ups. They burnnnnn! 🔥 Loving your videos, keep it up!
@motorbreathjz Жыл бұрын
ill throw another one out there thats top tier bicep workout and thats spider curls.. they have no forgiveness on your biceps.. they demand top and bottom muscle of the bicep to work
@JoeyAgzBDA Жыл бұрын
Underhand pull-ups are vastly underrated because they train the bicep in a shoulder flexion position which is a secondary function of the bicep that is often overlooked. Jay did a lot of overhead machine curls- same idea. Most people who cheat with their curls get this effect but usually it’s spastic and uncontrolled and tension during sets is only about 1-2 seconds collectively so the effect is negligible.
@motorbreathjz Жыл бұрын
mike mentzer said under hand pull downs on the lat machine are the best of the best bicep workout.. just adding to your statement as i agree completely that a pullup or pulldown are vastly overlooked.. its almost common sense that a pulldown/pullup is top tier for biceps because even unintentionally doing pulldown for back you still get jacked up arms and that aint even the correct movement.. thats how demanding it is on the arms..@@JoeyAgzBDA

Hey Eugene, Isn't there too much tension on the Biceps tendon when doing the single arm db preacher curl with a full range of motion (extending the arm completely)? Also you loose the tension in the Biceps. Wouldn't it be safer and more effective to shorten the range of motion and keeping constant tension on the bicep? Thank you!
@coacheugeneteo4 жыл бұрын
Potentially yyes. It is all about the overall volume. You'll see on the bench I don't get full extension. But with the prescher bench I do!
@Mo-kv4yc4 жыл бұрын
Thank you!
@parkerrish90244 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I never like full extension on movements during my bicep workouts either. IT becomes more of a tendon pain than a bicep stretcher; however, on movements like the preacher curl and the incline curl, the full stretch leads to a comfortable and noticable pump more so then on any movements. I 100% agree with Eugene on this one.

I never trained my biceps until I analyzed my kinematic sequence and saw my arm speed is to low, I’ve been working for years on that and I am finally trying to see if it has to do with the actual strength in the arm itself since my core and leg strength is really good. I will give it a try for 6 months then we’ll se if I’m more efficient. Thanks for these exercises!

I´m neither a powerlifter nor a woman, and I love training biceps, but my biceps are the weakest part of my body even though I try to train them a lot. I'll try these exercises out, I´m loving the thorough explanation because, as someone who has trained for years, I feel I've plateaued and gym trainers and their same suggestions are not helping at all.

I love working biceps! One of my favorites is the low one-arm cable curl from behind (that I learned from you).

Thanks Eugene. Do you have a video where you explain more about the faults in retracting and depressing the scapula?

I am a power builder, so I still train my biceps, triceps , etc. I do focus on strength, but I add extra hypertrophic exercises on some days in the week. For Back and Bi's, I love doing Barbell Curl Dropsets w/ time under tension, and good ol' preacher curls!

My two favorites right now are a basic standing dumbbell curl and an incline bench dumbbell curl
