Your defending betrayal and disloyalty between 2 girls yet your channel has yet to make criticism about cultural appropriation in Sam Levison Show such as the spicy violent latina or black best friend I feel as if you can only identify with Cassie on the basis that she's white I recommend you guys do a video on those subjects instead of your tone deaf Cassie defense vids. P.s Anya I appreciate if you look up vid's on the decline of good writing and offensive stereotypes that is presented in the show.

interesting analysis, one thing I'd like to point out is the comparison between the two girls in terms of their bodies. I agree the early sexualization Cassie had to experience made her more difficult to understand her relationship with men and her own body, but thinking that sexy outfits on Maddie are empowering and giving her confidence vs those on Cassie are vulgar just because she has more curves it's unfair and perpetrates once again the idea that bigger bodies are less elegant, ridiculous and to be made fun of whereas the same clothes on a smaller figure are a sign of control and maturity, as often stated in the video. Every girl, regardless of her size, has a story to tell about how she was seen as a thing and sexualized since an early age, at the carnival Maddie is called a slut not a queen, they're both too worried about how they're perceived, we see their different reactions based on new experiences on season 2 but it is not dependent on their respective size.

I think this is a really interesting point. I definitely agree that this is super harmful, cos I felt this way myself in high school. I was so much bustier than my friends and received very different male attention. But I also think that the Take pointing it out is valid, cos it is how a lot of people, especially men, view bustier women. I hate that this is the case, but it’s an integral part of Cassie’s character and her experience growing up

Thank you for what you said. I feel this very deeply. I have a really big bust. Recently i bought tops from the internet (crop and that i could use without a bra because i don't like to use bras in summer). These tops in a girl with small chest or normal look cute and sexy, and bold. In my body i just see them as being trashy and kind of vulgar. I just wanted to feel nice on them. But i know that people will perceive that way and makes me perceive it also that way and i'm not confident in them (plus i'm also plus size woman, so it makes it worse).

@@gabriellaberman I think I like the other point the show is making, that although most men are almost always turned on by a Cassie, they "THINK" someone like a Maddy or a Jules is a keeper. So basically, if she turns him on, she can't possibly have a personality and feelings. No no, go for the one that wouldn't turn people on as much, that's the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. There was this survey about how men view blondes Vs brunettes Vs redheads. The stuff in there were hilarious. The majority actually said they're mostly turned on by redheads and blondes but they don't think they're loyal or trustworthy. While "Raven haired" maidens, they're not that sexy apparently but that's the trustworthy one. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I think these people get their perceptions about women from cough cough adult films. I'm naturally a brunette but I dye my hair blonde because I just see myself as a blonde. But this made me laugh my ass off. Always wondered if this was for or against me, in terms of what, and how exactly. Turns out it's pretty dumb, as expected. Edit: And please if you're trying to make the "not all men" argument, spare me! Refer to every single explanation out there for how this is just an attempt at derailment. No one has ever written "all men", you put that in there, and are actively attempting to derail. And since it pissed you off so much, I'll say it again just to piss you off harder. Really? I thought when he had the dream about being with her there were definitely images of Jules in there, in the dark. It was clear Cassie was not really the one he wanted, it was Jules. But he would never admit that to himself, and she's definitely not the "wifey" material that fits into that dream. Jules is much different than the stereotype Nate wants for a wife to feel all masculine because he's insecure.

People who hate Cassie for what she did keep forgettng that she's SO YOUNG. In my 19 and early 20 (up till 23) i literally WAS Cassie. Daddy issues, confused sexuality, I even look like her in a way: it's that mix of innocent childlike face and curvy feminine body. I confronted man sexualasing me (sometimes relatives and "family friends") from like 11-12 years old. It breaks you. I really thought that sex is all men will ever want from me. I did a lot of stupid things because I WANTED TO BE LOVED AND SEEN so badly. "To be someone's girlfriend" literally was my identity. I knew nothing about myself. Maybe Cassie is jealous of Maddy being so put together and knowing who she is that deep in her subconcious she decided to became Maddy the only way she knows - by stealing her man. I don't know what's gonna happen next in series but in real life girls like Cassie are in trouble and it's a very tough road ahead of them. It tooks so much tears, humiliation and hate for yourself to finally become a real person with your own dreams... I think what we should keep in mind - that Cassie is stupid in a way, but she's also miserable and she's a product of male gaze. And she's kinda lonely in her sadness. For example Lexy's play was offensive an humiliating and she wanted a little sympathy and validation of her emotions from her mom but she never got it. She's a black sheep in her own family. She needs help.

But girl she didn't steal her man, the goddamn abusive piece of shit went from abusing one to abusing another. I genuinely do think only the BBs of the world would look at the situation as "stealing". There was no stealing. Nate did it, he approached Cassie, he told Cassie he loved her. He had sex with her in the bathroom... Why do people keep forgetting it takes 2 to tango?

Honestly, I agree on the fact that the Country girl look was how Cassie truly viewed herself/her style. It was also the one she was the most insecure about. She changed her other looks so easily, and other then when she tried Maddie's style, no one really said anything about her look. But when she comes in dressed like a "country music star" suddenly everyones on her case about why she's dressed like that and outright comparing her the word "Oklahoma". She also becomes so absorbed into her reflection when everyone kept commenting on it, almost breaking down. Its kinda sad that the only original look she came up with was the only one that her friends had a problem with.

It made me feel itchy and actually cry the first time I saw it, its exactly what people with mental health (and also physical health) issues go through on a daily basis. I know a lot of people hated Cassie for her behavior this season and I get it, she did wrong. But, I feel really bad for her. She has daddy issues and they manifest in how she lets men treat her. Nate, complete psychopath that he is, picked up on that and took advantage of it. She’s not blameless, but let’s not forget that Nate is manipulative as hell. Despite Maddie being smarter and more mature than Cassie, Nate manipulated her to the point of lying to police and sending another person to jail after he assaulted her. Cassie is more of a victim in all this. Nate being the primary villain to her, Maddie, and everyone else in that town.

I just feel so sorry for Cassie. I know she’s the “bad guy” but she has a past that completely explains what she’s going through. She’s suicidal. She is desperate and feels alone and *unlovable.* These are all things that happen to women who have a deep emotional wound of rejection from one or both of their parents, especially the father. It only makes sense that she is desperate to “prove” she is lovable by trying to “win” Nate, only to have that totally blow up in her face. And yes it was deserved but it’s a tragic story. Her story is one of love and loss. She was rejected by the very person who was supposed to love her. Of course she would feel this deep emotional void that nobody can fill, so she is misguided and thinks that Nate can be the person to fill that emptiness. Of course she’s wrong to believe that because she is young and naive, and if you’ve never truly known love, how would you even know what to look for? In contrast, partly why Maddy is so self confident might be in big part to her healthy and loving relationships with her own family, so she knows exactly what love is and how she *deserves* to be treated. Of course what Cassie did was wrong, betraying her best friend, but because I have a similar childhood to hers (my father deciding to just completely abandon me and my sisters) I completely understand *why* she did it. I really hope Cassie gets the redemption arch she deserves because she is a victim of an unloving parent and a tragically loveless life. 💔💔💔

I hope that in the upcoming season we will be able to see Cassie change for the better, and the progression in her character be reflected in her wardrobe. I think she’d still maintain the girly/feminine style she’s known for with pastel colors and cute hairstyles but make it less form fitting and basic. And instead elevating it to be bolder and more unique in terms of silhouette, patterns, texture, and prints. Cassie's original "girl next door" look was all about playing it safe in terms of appealing to the tastes of men, mostly with figure hugging and revealing clothes, simple makeup, loosely styled hair, and safe solid pastel colors. For when Cassie starts finally dressing for herself, I can imagine that her still adopting a romantic/feminine style but more artistically beautiful than conventionally beautiful. Think bright eye-catching florals, longer flared-out skirts and trousers, fun flowy or bell-shaped sleeves, and more.

Loved the vide, but I definitely do not think Maddy is controlled and matured haha! Calling people the “R” word, dating Nate, slapping a girl on stage and corraborating with putting an innocent guy in jail are not hallmarks of maturity. Like with Jules, Maddy is sexually active and outspoken and due to these qualities people tend to think these characters are more mature than they actually are. They are usually put in contrast with their respective counterparts Jules/Rue, Maddie/Cassie. Rue for instance is seen as being less mature than Jules and it has been implied because she is not confident or sexually active. Yet Jules is the one who meets with a guy she’s never seen a picture of, cheats in a relationship, steals liquor and runs away. Overall charisma, sexual activity and wearing bold outfits are not hallmarks of maturity. That’s the reason that I love Euphoria because it shows at the end of the day these are children and despite how cool, or put together they may be they are lost and trying to find their self esteem in superficial ways which brings them more pain.

This is exactly what I thought. Maddy controlled and mature? I wish more people would look through the tough girl persona that Maddy puts on and actually see a deeply disturbed young girl who is capable of equally bad or even worse things that Cassie is being criticized for. They also seem to forget that she held onto Jules ' CD and Nate had to give it back to her

Definitely see both points, but I feel as though near the end of the season she was more mature, yes she beat up Cassie but she was able to give her the mature response of he’ll come back to you like he did with me, then walking away from the fight. Also, in the last two episodes, she also talked to Samantha about moving somewhere, I feel as though if she’s away from this town & Cassie she can become a better person. I also felt like her maturity was shown through her clothing as stated in the video, wearing more bolder colors opposed to the bright colors she wore when she was with Nate.

@@tanyajustine3223 This is true. Maddy has done some pretty crappy stuff, some in the name of love. Others, in the name of being "confident". I think her beating up people is absolutely not okay, and I'm not talking about just beating up Cassie because that happened after Cassie shoved the girl playing her off the Mary go round horse on stage (There's a sentence I never thought I'd type! Thanks Sam Levinson, your show is Bananas entertaining). She'd beaten up people before, and I think the "angry Latina" stereotype is just not cool tbh. The character deserves better. Happy that she's walking away from all of that crap tbh at the end of the season. I think we all like Maddy for an obvious reason, Alexa..

This video definitely changed my view of Cassie. Her bratty/petulant/selfish behavior annoyed me because I thought it occurred through her deliberately rejecting her own agency. 8:45 Now Im of the opinion: She doesn't fully realize her agency. Her actions don't embody who she is (because she doesn't know who she is) but instead reflect who she thinks she is based on what other people want her to be

Yes! Cassie has a long way to go to finding herself and she is on a self love journey. She wants so desperately to be loved, and so she looks outside herself to everyone around her in hopes of finding someone who will tell her she’s good enough, that she is *lovable* (not loved, but *lovable* because of her deep emotional wound from her father’s abandonment, she doesn’t even think she is lovable). I hope she gets her redemption arch that she deserves because I really want to get to know the *real* Cassie. The Cassie who knows she is a beautiful lovable person. The Cassie who loves herself. 💗

No dad, people pleaser, etc. Since Maddy has not gone through that kind of thing even though in a way her dad is absent too. Would people be quick to forgive and forget or would they be upset? If Maddy had cheated with one of Cassie’s boyfriends she would have a full breakdown and that would make people feel sorry for her(like when she wasn’t getting calls from Nate after Maddy found out) Then people would think Maddy is a bad person because people already perceive her as a b*tch. I don't get the people feeling bad for Maddy because of what Cassie did. See, I watched season one and I saw what Nate is like. The moment Maddy shows an ounce of independence and security, Nate flips out; the moment she tells him she accepts him for who he is, Nate flips out. He beat her you guys, Maddy is arguably the strongest of the girls in terms of character and Nate still made her have breakdowns. And she still wants to go back to him. Isn't it insanity to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result? I don't care if he says he loves her, if season 2 proves anything it's that Nate says that and may not even know what it means. He says it to Cassie but did any of that look like love? Nope! Sure Cassie had a meltdown too, she's not as strong as Maddy, but while I see why Cassie's low self esteem would get her to really fixate on Nate, for the life of me I can't see why Maddy would still choose to hurt herself. Gotta say though, Sydney Sweeney carried this season, her performance is REALLY GOOD. Aside from Rue's two (You know which ones) episodes, the rest of the season could have been dull but it wasn't because of Cassie. And yes this was not a character to aspire to be, or one that you'll empathize with the entire time, but she was perfect and earned every moment she was on screen because of the "grey" area in which her character resided this season. On a final note, so sick of people not trashing Nate, and I know what you're gonna say "Oh we expect that from Nate he's a garbage person". But I still don't see a reason why that's not brought up, while people really emphasize the Cassie Vs Maddy thing. Like, it's not a question of who's better or who's right, they're both victims of an abusive and manipulative piece of garbage character. Duh.

My father abandoned me, I was bullied in school, I dealt with racism and colorism, I watched my mom get abused by my stepfather for years, my stepfather molested me, I was sexually assaulted by a guy friend, and I was abused by my mother and I would never get with a man who abused my best friend.
