Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of VW Taigo 2022

The VW Taigo is a partner model to Polo and their structure is practically identical. Euro NCAP compared both vehicles to verify that the VW Polo results can be applied to Taigo and performed additional tests where necessary. The footage includes video of the VW Polo 2022 and additional Taigo 2022 tests.
Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

furthermore the frontal impact is measured at 50 km and not 64 km, how can you be sure that in the lateral impact the behavior is the same as the pole?

No se ha equivocado. La razón es el idéntico monocasco del Polo, por ende la misma respuesta ante una colisión en ciertas pruebas para reducir los costos de adquisición de unidades nuevas.

Según un tester de Argentina cuyo apellido termina con una K, NCAP adquiere autos a través de “donaciones a cambio de…”. No los compra. Me lo dijo él en persona. Es algo que me generó dudas.

No. La razón es el idéntico monocasco del Polo y Taigo, por ende la misma respuesta ante una colisión en ciertas pruebas (en otras se evalúa el Taigo) para reducir los costos de adquisición de unidades nuevas. Esto también se ha realizado con demás marcas. Ejemplo: ▪︎Peugeot 208 y 2008 (A9), los resultados del Hatchback fueron para el Crossover sin ser sometido a pruebas. ▪︎3008 II (P84) y 5008 (P87), lo mismo. Sobre todo, cuando se trata de modelos "gemelos" de un grupo o alianza automovilística. Ejemplos: ▪︎Citroën C-Elysée/Peugeot 301. ▪︎MPV del segmento C de Stellantis (Rifter...etc.) ▪︎MPV de Volkswagen y Ford (Caddy/Tourneo Connect). Sólo un modelo se evalúa y válido para todos. En los actuales 208 (P21) y 2008 (P24) si se requirió sus respectivos ejemplares en todas las pruebas.
