Euronymph Flyfishing the River Ribble in Clitheroe

Had a fun day fly fishing the River Ribble in the town of Clitheroe for some wild brown trout.
I did well with a krystal flash perdigon nymph I tied up this week. I did get into some better fish after my GoPro ran out of battery and added the photos at the end of the video.
This is a nice beat, but it is a little more urban with lots of people around. I think it would be worth the season pass if you lived locally. For the price of a day ticket, I would definitely recommend the Mitton beat a few miles downstream.

@@AAAFlyFisher It was! there's a deep weir further down from where you were about half a mile, all the big fish are there, and quarter of a mile further up from the bridge there's a brook running into the river, I used to fish that had some big Trout out of it

While not so great for fishing, it's still nice seeing people taking advantage of the weather and river to enjoy themselves.

That spot gets busy with families. I’m a member of the club down stream from there - it fishes well. Do you live near by - great to see an American fishing in the UK!

I imagine it's always busy there on nice days. I love the Ribble, but have only fished there and the Mitton beat. I live in South Wales, but my wife's family lives nearby so we visit often. I'll be looking forward to doing more fishing this season and exploring new areas in the north when we are up that way. I've had a great time exploring and flyfishing in the UK over the past year - there is so much beautiful countryside with quality wild trout. Patrick

Lovely careful fishing...out on a spring day... I note where you got your permit....have you tried the spiders? Waterhen bloa snipe and purple and partridge and orange? Hope 2024 produces....( and for the salmon !!)

Thank you for commenting, Simon! I haven't tried out the spiders yet, but will definitely tie some up this winter to be ready for 2024!

Great that you had some sport, man! Very skillfully fished, smart move to go early in the morning, especially up near the bridge! I started my fly fishing in the 1970s on this bit, used to get a ticket from the cafe, it was very good for grayling in the winter too. Got yourself another sub👍 What part of the states are you from?

Thank you very much! I was definitely glad I fished that area early (even though it was sheer luck that I started there!) It is a very pretty stretch and I even saw a salmon making his splashy way upstream in the late morning. I am originally from Pennsylvania, but lived in NY for the past 10 years before moving to the UK recently. It has been a blast chasing around the UKs trout so far and I am excited for more exploring. This is the Edisford Bridge beat. I got it through the Platform visitors center near the train station in Clitheroe. It is included in the day ticket for the Clitheroe town water so there are a few other areas included as well. Let me know if you have any more questions and good luck!
