Joost klein is groot! He dedicated this song to his father who died when he was 12 years old. His dad taught him that the world has no true boundaries. His mother died when he was 13. He is a huge inspiration to young folks. He is such a legend the world needs more people like Joost. He has gone through so many challenges in life, it is a true inspiration to see how he deals with it. Joost klein, droom groot.❤

Not a Eurovision fan here, but: this song is insane. The clip is so well made, the references are insane, and the whole thing makes me SO proud being Dutch. 100% Happy hardcore at Eurovision (who would have thought), letsgoooooo! Joost goat, denk Groot!

This song has many layers. The song name is a contraction of Europe + Papa (= father in Dutch). Further references to these 2 subjects: 1. He was an orphan at a young age. His father taught him that this world is his oyster, without borders. So he travels to many countries to escape the pain of the loss of his parents, but that doesn't work. No escargots, fish 'n chips, paella can make him forget. 2. He used to watch ESC with his parents. And he said that one day he would be on that stage performing. His father encouraged him to live life without limits and to go for it. The small boy with the note pad references to his father encouraging him to write poetry (his father was a writer) and now Joost writes songs and he has made it to the ESC ("you see, dad, I listened to you"). With the burning (of the house, picture, building/mill (his past, growing up in Friesland)) at the end of the video, everything comes full circle. He has made his parents proud and he can accept their passing, his past and move on. Hope this helps.

This and De Diepte are the kinds of authentic things the Netherlands should be sending each year...NOT Duncan Lawrence or the two last year...this really represents the Dutch I feel!

I think Duncan's was authentic in that he had a personal connection to the song

This is good. I really like his quirky attitude and vibe and how he just seems like a really sweet and humble dude, I love the lyrics (it talks about his father who he lost when he was 12, and his parents by extension as he lost his mum later on as well) which are dark especially for a song that is so happy, I love its vibes, I love the mix of languages in the songs, the hook is kind of catchy but also a bit annoying, the production is incredible, the ending is a bit of a 180 for me and it is not the best way to end such a happy song, I love his artistry and how it is really him and yeah overall this is a very mixed bag, but I think I am in the like lane more than not because the talent is there but I feel like it could’ve been utilised a bit better in his entry as he was being hyped up so much and this feels like a bit of an anticlimax. This will easily qualify but with the overall vibe of the year it might struggle to gain much traction in the final but all they want is to qualify and this will do it and I do love how it is so left-field for them considering what lane they have been staying in recently and this not being that at all. This is a 7/10 for me but it will surely grow on me over time.

That's not dubstep, that's hardcore house, also called happy hardcore or gabber house. It was a huuuuge thing in the Netherlands in the nineties and one of the biggest hardcore djs of that time, DJ Paul Elstak, is in this video.
