It's because we in Portugal have a lot of the "Sh" sounds that slavic, particularly polish and czech, languages have 😄 the hard C from latin that turned into a soft S in castilian or a "tse" in italian, turned into a "sh" in galician and subsequently in portuguese

@@wythore Thats definetly it. Because Brazilian Portugese does not sound slavic & has an "S" sound instead of a "Sh" sound.

Because it's, I forgot what it's called. It's when you have a language being the most recently taught in the periphery of the realm and it ends up being the most conservative version of it, due to the influence of mass education.

@mbahremuk But Portuguese has always had vowel reduction, this characteristic also existed in Galego-Portuguese, it is the Timorese who are doing it wrong
@WedsleyFelix
@WedsleyFelix Жыл бұрын
@@antoniomultigames4968It doesn't make much sense, since reduction is caused by an extended period of repetition of the same sounds over and over. like in German nowadays people don't or almost don't pronounce some sounds, if it were the cause, Portuguese at this point would have shortened a lot of words during the time. It seems European Portuguese are starting the process by now, since it has been spoken much more than other Portuguese speaking countries 😊 .
@EduardoAlves-ob3jt
@EduardoAlves-ob3jt 7 ай бұрын
@@WedsleyFelixno, not really, it has been like that since the foundation of the language, like he said galego-portugues (old/medieval portuguese) already had vowel reduction, this comes from the indigenous languages of Portugal and Galicia before latin, like Lusitanian and celtic Galecian

European Portuguese - A stress-timed one, Brazilian Portuguese - A slightly syllable-timed but more palatalized one (reason why feel so closed with Ligurian), Timorese Portuguese - Have an slightly straightforward between pronounciation and spelling (despite not total straightforward, still the Nusantaran vibes linguistic were nice at localized the spelling with corresponding the pronunciations).

Interesting video. I'm Brazilian and my father is Portuguese, I have Portuguese citizenship too. My accent is more reminiscent of Portugal than the Brazilian used in the video, because I'm from RJ. The accent of Rio de Janeiro is more similar to that of Portugal, as we also use the "s" with the sound of "shhh". Pará, in the north of the country, does the same "sh" with words with "s" (not as intensely as in Rio de Janeiro). An example is "dois", which becomes something like "doix" when speaking (x = sh). The Brazilian accent appearing in the video is from the southeastern region of the country, from the state of São Paulo.
