unpopular opinion: i didn't get the czech republics entry. they're singing in thick british accents, doing a song in the style of the wombats, dressed like the wiggles, with the song subject seemingly about cheating on your girlfriend with your ex next door neighbor. they also sang pretty flat throughout, and the two guys miming instruments was odd too. it was all a bit too... cheap? sorry!

Suprised with your comment for Czech Republic. I understood you had some aversion to the song before the show even started but they literally own the stage with no trashy costumes, fireworks, and all the junk staff - they just performed simple funky&dance fun for the audience.

Oh yes, without a doubt they had fun, but the song is simply not something I could enjoy to listen to which is a shame because they seem like really nice guys too. Hey, they brought some variety to the final so good on them! :)

Agree. Portugal and Belgium were my top 10 (besides I am Portuguese, but I am even more shocked concerning Belgium). Belarus? So bad! San Marino: really bad. Cyprus: a cheap copy of great last years' s entry. Greece: try to listen to it without the visual... Slovenia: nice, but sleepy. Czechia had a nice oerformace, but the song is cheasy. Etc..

I must admit I'm pretty salty about Portugal's snub, so I'll make a herculean effort to be polite. Having said that not passing Portugal in this semi final is wrong and goes against the spirit of the festival. I understand that Conan Osiris is an acquired taste, it's the same thing here in Portugal, half the people love him the other half doesn't. One can discuss the merits of his music in a void context, however one of the main, if not the main attraction of Eurovision is the showcase of several different songs and styles. I've notice that, more often than not the most impact full performance wins the show, be it good or not. And that's how it should be, it's a giant show with tenths of songs in the finals, it's designed for that. And Portugal's song is undeniably one of the most original pieces this year. The conjunction of edm, with traditional Portuguese music elements as well as some gipsy music inspiration creates an identity that, even if not palatable to all, it clearly exists, and that's what should be, and so often is, celebrated in Eurovision, from Conchita to Dustin the Turkey. I believe that a good amount of people will search for Conan's music after this because is something you cannot find easily (I would add that you can only find it in his work). Compared to Britney Spears light from Belarus, pretty lady casino singer from Serbia, or worst of all that bloody soulless cliche full nauseating "white guy with acoustic guitar" from Estonia. Really Europe "a storm like this/ can brake a man like this"? What piss poor seventh grade poetry contestant wrote this bollocks? What's the impact of this? Can you really imagine anyone listening to this song after the festival outside of Estonia? I didn't like Hungary this year for example, but i get it, I understand why it can reach someone after the festival, Estonia is as generic as they come, and not even good in the execution. The lyrics are moronic, the production is cheap the singer is banal and not even technically solid. A disgrace, a piss break in Saturday's final that adds nothing, surprises no one and has zero lasting power. For the same reasons Poland was robbed to.

Wow! Well said! I feel the same way...Portugal was robbed. I liked them from the first listening and I was convinced they would take a very good place in the final. Not passing into the final was a big disappointment for me. I thought Estonia and San Marino didn't desreve to be in the finals. But it is how it is, unfortunately.

Portugal song and art is not for everyone to listen ! Is very unique and pure so not for all to ear... sorry but is true! You need to like a lot of kind of songs because Conan music is a lot of different beats made by an artist... it's art... sorry but San Marino looked like a 60 year old drunk man trying to sing in a karaoke.... even my grandmother sings better comon.... How do you explain other singers not having a problem with their voice then? If it was a technical issue, you would see it in everyone and clearly that's not the case. From what I heard, she had the same vocal problems in rehearsal.
