Hi guys and welcome back to another 'FLASHBACK FRIDAY!' and in today's video (Following from previous flashbacks) I am reacting to ALL 3RD PLACES AT EUROVISION from 1957 - 1999 and investigating if 3rd place really is the place to be!
but, what I want to know is... Who is your fave? and do you think 3rd place is where the quality entries really are at?

I love Nel blu dipinto di blu, but Spirit In The Sky was the most robbed song ever. Clear televote winner in both, the semi-final and in the grand final, only to be robbed of victory by the juries. 👎🏼

Yes but it came classic international hit and also has been chosen the best Eurovision Song in 50 years in the 50 yrs of Eurovision Song Contest Gala in Copenhagen 2005.

And it was robbed probably becuse competition with san remo. This song win in San-Remo.

I love that you did this. My favorites are Italy 1975, France 1978, and my alltime favorite Italian entry 1987 Gente di mare; love that song to death. Fun facts: The Danish entry from 1957 had an about 11 second kiss in the end of their song(someone was supposed to signal/tell them when to stop, but they forgot), The Danish Lady Kirsten from 1988s entry was pregnant, and Birthe from 1989 had the writer, the composer and the conducter joining her on stage as backing singers. Now do 4th places, Thank you. 😊😄😆

1974: Appearantly, they were mismatched personality-wise as well and didn't get along at all. 1975: The lyrics of this song seem to indeed be about a secret love affair. 1993: And here is the last top 3 entry in French (which is remarkable when you know how dominant the French language used to be). 1999: Appearantly, they were not Germany's first choice that year.

My fave third place of Eurovision ever (probably) is definitely Nel Biu, Dipinto De Blu (Volare). Just an epic song with great instrumentation and is definitely upped the feeling is definitely upped by the orchestra. Such a classic!!! I do not know why but also Anne Marie David reminds me of my maths teacher that had in Year 8, which is definitely random!?

1957-good song. Not to Great but like it 1958-shouldve won. U should agree 1959- great great song. Lovely 1960-he was my favourite the first time I heard it 1961-decent song bit as great but good 1962- love it. He got last in 1960 1963- one of the best that year 1964-very very powerful. Love it 1965-not hating on this one. Great entry 1966-one of the best of the 60s. Nice entry very nice guitar player 1967-not really great imo. Song is good tho 1968-great song yet not my winner but also not bad 1969-4 winners 1970-one of the best 3rd places in the 80s 1971-sge returns with a banger. Love this aswell 1972-Germany again. Really love this one 1973-one of my favs. Deserved its place 1974-onw of the best 3rd places. One of the best years that year that's why this didn't win 1975-banger. Their 2nd best entry in the 70s imo 1976- Very nice. Absolutely love this one 1977-ah yes my fav of the 70s for 3rd. Really love it my winner for sure. 1978- no hate ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT 1979-France again. This sounds a bit worse then last year for me but not bad at all 1980-nice song. Sounds kinda 70s ngl 1981- my winner. Best song that year. Better then 1st(sorry UK) 1982-good song. Propably the worst 3rd place of the 80s but that's becuase its hard to pick 1983-good song. Not the greatest but maybe should've won 1984-eh decent song. Nothing bad about it deserved its place id say 1985-classic. Strong voice nice entry 1986-my 2nd fav that year if not my fav. Love every single bit 1987-my fav of the 80s I'd say. Every single bit makes sense 1988-good song. Not bad at all and like this one 1989-good song. My winner was Yugoslavia tho but this comes close 1990-2 2nd places 1991-my 2nd fav behind Italy. Very nice 1992-great song. Not the best but like it 1993-best 3rd place for Swiss. Love it and deserved its place 1994-decent like it. Nothing else to say 1995-this one sounds great. What a song might have won 1996-happy song. Not bad sounds amazing 1997-Turkeys first classic. Love it 1998-well yep I also do like. Not the best but very nice 1999-what can I say then? Sounds perfect for 1999 but it's not that great

my favourites are: Netherlands 1974 - easily would be my winner that year if waterloo wasn't that year Ireland 1977 Sweden 1983 - better than the winner that year imo Sweden 1985 - my 2nd of 1985 Israel 1991 Germany 1994 Sweden 1995 - should have won imo i love this song sooo much Sweden 1996 basically i love sweden

The 1968 3rd place was quite a risky song for the time. If you look at the original lyrics and the translated lyrics the song is clearly alludes to a rape.
