So basically after touring their second album, Amy took a break from music and just wanted to live her life with her husband she married in 2007. She stated that after finding early success, touring since 2003, living with her love of her life and just settling in, she felt lost after some time, hence the title of the song. She stated that even though she was living in paradise, she felt that something was missing and it was making music for Evanescence. Even though she wanted to step out of the spotlight and just be Amy, she realized that Evanescence is a part of her. She also stated she wrote this during a time she felt broken and said it was almost like an apology for the fans for taking so long to make a new Evanescence album.
