Thank you guys!!! My gas cap had been replaced 3 times and never did they test that solenoid. I went to autozone, bought the part, and did it myself. Problem fixed!!!

Thanks for the video. I drove the left side of my car up on the curb in front of my house. Plenty of space to work. Did it in about 18-20 minutes. Easy to replace after watching this. I encountered an enormous amount of rust and zero dirt. I guess I run over too many puddles lol. Wash out the dirt and cake on the rust. The rust was so bad that I thought you guys were wrong with the 10mm bolt. My docket wouldn't go on the nut. But that was because of the excess rust lol. You guys definitely made disconnecting the hose look easier than it was. That was a struggle for me. But overall this video helped alot. Thanks again.

Did you have the P0455 mass evap leak code? Seemed to light the check engine forever in our 2008 Impala, think this is the first thing to replace to try and get rid of it? Gas caps seal tight so im figuring this. On other note, constant ABS/Traction reduce power problems, I replaceed the gas pedal/Pedal position sensor- unless it broke 2 years later maybe this is the wire, or the wheel speed sensor? Ugh, so many problems with electronics in GMs

@@ajw148 mine is doing that and I get a egg smell and gas smell ram the code and the only code that popped up was the vapor canister and was 200 dollars so I waited and do some research and I'm hearing that if you smell gas and the car sputters when starting it's the purge valve on the engine?? Is that the case and did it fix your issues with starting up???? I'm still going to change the actual canister by the gas tank just want to try this first and that way I can order the canister online and save some money auto wanted 200 dollars for there canister

Very good video. we replaced this with ease once we figured out the clip.... could another video be made that gives a close up of how to release the clip on the connector. That small piece was a nightmare for the mechanically challenged.

My lines may be clogged, either I replace or blow compressed air through them. Also my 2008 impala always clicks off every couple seconds when pumping gas. I found out my fuel fill neck on my vehicle is rusted. That could mean the fume line may be clogged so I will replace that, but also there is another canister in the fuel tank. I’ve read that it is likely the canister within the tank itself, and not this canister or the purge. Wild. Hopefully I made something clear for someone.

Ya, that's not always what fails. It also could be your purge valve. I replaced that part, and that wasn't it, I had to replace the purge valve.

If you put the left rear tire on a 4x4 block of wood you have more room to work under the car. The 4x4 block of wood will hold the car. Now putting the tube into the rubber hose. Use valisine makes it easier to install. Now at the electrical connector. One wire will have power at all times with the key in the on position but not running. Ground side switched by the ecm

It's not a Po449 code. It's a P0449.

I have difficulty adding fuel to the tank, could the whole EVAP system be culprit? I haven't ran codes yet, but i suspect the whole system is probably dirty and clogged, also probably have a permanent code as well.

@@dennishnks Same problem. It takes so long to get gas in the tank, I can only tolerate $10 and I'm done. The more frequent stops for fuel are wearing me down now. The car has 240,000 miles so I don't want to sink a load of cash in it, BUT I need to find out what's causing it because it's annoying!

@@puncho33 I finally fixed my problem I did so by blowing compressed air through the tubes I took off the canister and blew it out really good and wasn't satisfied so I cut it open and cleaned it out then JB weld it back together reassembled everything cleaned out the vent too.

So, at first I had a P0455, cleared that.. was fine for a while and now I've got a P0449. Haven't done any work with those two codes yet. It all started with a misfire code. That hasn't come back. Although I know there is still a misfire.. it just hasn't coded since I've been gentle with the car since. Any thoughts here on this?

For the codes, both point to the canister vent solenoid If the car is 08+ you can get your mode 6 data for misfires, but if they're bad enough they should be throwing a P030x code

@@LemurMonitors I went to replace my solenoid. Turns out, my cable or wires aren't even there. How hard is it to do wiring for the evaporator solenoid? Do you have any tutorials for it? I have no idea what to do next. I definitely can't afford a mechanic, it's why i was gonna do it myself. However the cable is literally missing, that is supposed to be attached to solenoid. It looked like someone cut my wires.

@@angelnegro281 for me it turned out to be a few different sensors. MAP and Camshaft position sensor got it fixed and smooth. But mine had around 208k miles and I was starting law school so after about a month I sold the car so I dont know how it went long term. I can tell u getting to that sensor on my car for some reason took over an hour. But im no mechanic im just a 23 year old guy trying to get his car running haba

You would just plug the connect from the vehicle into the receiver for that connector on the new part yes!

If it comes back on there might still be a problem - other things to look at: filler cap, fuel filler neck, evap wiring

HHHEEELLLPPP!!!!! So I only have the P0455 code on my 2007 3.5 L Automatic Impala LTZ. NOW... what typically happens is that my car drives really slow at first and then slams in to second gear pretty hard. Almost seems like a transmission issue. I also have just over 200 thousand miles. Would the P0455 code sometimes make your car drive that way? Like I have trouble switching lanes because there’s no give in my car in the first gear B4 it eventually slams into second gear!

If it's the purge valve it might be different from the vent canister in the video - still a pretty easy fix though! It's sitting to the left of the throttle and just has one bolt.

If it's being stubborn you could try taking a flat head screwdriver and putting it between the connector and plug, press hard on the tab, then turn the screwdriver to pry it off. Don't pry/turn too hard though or you could break it.

Typically it's sold as one unit but otherwise maybe try heating the hose up a bit?
