As a 30yr diesel mechanic veteran may I commend you on your video that was easy to understand and well explained.... I’ve been so busy repairing everyone else’s vehicles (been real cold up here in Northern 🇨🇦 -35c the past month) My wife’s 2003 Jeep Liberty light came on the other day and noticed code for both minor/major evap leaks ... Will order all 3 components & extra hosing ..deliverer up here sucks between 1-2weeks if the roads are decent (under 6feet of snow😂) Anyway thanks for saving me time to go look underneath..used that extra time to tune up my SkiDoo😂 Cheers from HudsonBay,Ontario🇨🇦

For the LDP pump, Pull out the passenger side gas tank bolt by the LDP pump and loosen the driver side gas tank bolt. You will have enough room to get the LDP pump out. loosen the two LDP PUMP nuts do not try to take them off. the studs stot into the plastic retainer on the front of the tank. Push the pump up and it will come off. I believe this is on the 2002 model. 2003 and up you dont have to mess with the tank bolts because the pump is mounted lower.

I have a 2007 Jeep Liberty with a stubborn evap code that won't go away even after replacing the canister and valve next to the battery. I suspect this persistent problem is a pin hole sized tiny leak in one of the hoses. The check engine light comes back on when I initially first start it the following morning when the vehicle has completely cooled overnight.
@DeathScouter4 жыл бұрын
Even the smallest leak triggers the PCM to create a OBDC code. You may need to let a mechanic do a "smoke test" where a smoke machine pumps smoke into the system and then you look for a smoke leak. If you've already replaced canisters and check valve (and I presume the rubber hoses that they connect with), then you've hit the most likely culprit. Good luck.

I just had the same problem. there is also one more section of hose that could be. I know because that's where the problem was with mine. follow the line going towards the front of the vehicle and there is a 6#piece of rubber hose just behind the drivers tire area. real easy to see and change. 5/16 hose.

Should have fixed my evac problem weeks ago but didnt. Now I've git a bigger problem with a P0300 code. Could the evac leak cause that? 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 105,000 miles.
@DeathScouter5 жыл бұрын
P0300 is a misfire code. I'm inclined to suspect worn spark plugs or 1 or more failing coil packs. Do you get any more P0300-series codes that indicate which cylinder is seeing the misfire? P030X where X is the cylinder #

@@DeathScouter Yes. 0302 and 0306. But it hasnt done it since the first time it misfired. Is running fine... for now. Why would it suddenly be OK?
@DeathScouter5 жыл бұрын
@@jamespoule8813 You should see my video on changing spark plugs. I can't believe my Liberty even ran with the eroded electrodes I had. MY GUESS would be the spark gap is just at that point where sometimes it fails and sometimes it doesn't. I'm not sure why yours are failing, or why it's been a while since they threw a code, but if you're due for plugs, you might as well change them and swap out the 2 (probably don't need all 6) coil packs for cylinders 2 and 6. It's not hard

@DeathScouter9 жыл бұрын
085 is not a full code #, but if you believe you replaced the bad part for that code and the check engine light is STILL on... have no fear. Unless you clear the code with a code reader, Chrysler computers typically leave the Check Engine light on for FOURTY starts of the engine before they clear on their own. Give it a little time.

+patsalltheway I've had several people tell me that reading the codes doesn't work on their cars. After checking with the Gods of Google, I'm reading that it SHOULD work on all the Jeep models. After looking at a few websites, there are a few people who say that getting it to work is "touchy" and the rate at which you're cycling the key forward and back makes a difference. I would try again, speeding up or slowing down the cycle. Hopefully that will make a difference. Otherwise you may be stuck taking your car to an autoparts store that puts code readers on for free.
