Hi Damien, I recently started working on my first EV conversion so go easy on me... I notice that the throttle settings are very simplistic in the video. I have been looking at control strategy for my project and was thinking it should be more of a 3D map, input throttle position, current RPM and regen strength -> output torque demand value... I was also thinking I would need an environmental offset percentage to deal with gradients etc. that effect torque requirement more generally... Is your current throttle to torque a more direct pedal position mapping affair? Will that be sufficient. A mapping will also allow configuration to specific vehicle profiles! Ideas drawn from the aftermarket ECU maps in the vehicle currently controlling the old ICE engine. Cheers Jon

A throttle map (or at least a curve) is certainly something that makes sense. HOWEVER compared to a linear relation it adds significant complexity to the code (both in Zombie and the web interface) and testing. So far it has just not been... important enough. But the code is open source, you can tinker around with it. A generic mapping function would come in handy for many things I guess. :)

Great video, Im really looking forward :) , mine VCU for IS 300 is still in thje box , hehe , I got all connectors , but I can't find connectors for ISA shunt.. ;(

You can find part numbers for the ISA Shunt connectors in the Openinverter Wiki.

Hi Damien wow thats an amazing amount of progress!!! I have one of your GS450 VCUs, a 450h donor and a BMW 12kWh hybrid battery - I would like to get the charging system working whilst I sort the car mechanicals - so I can keep the battery charged until I am ready to install. Do I need an i3 LIM and upgrade to a ZombieVerter to achieve this?

You only need a LIM if you want to charge it as a CCS station. If you want to use AC charging at home, you will need a dedicated charger (for example from the Mitsubishi Outlander, VAG MEB platform, Tesla, ...).

Hello, is there a simplified version of the board for self-control of Leaf 1, through can without affecting the leaf inverter? As it was with VCU v1. Or should I take Brain Board Rev 3 as a basis?Many thanks

I see a lot of common mode chokes in your future... An automated test harness round your code would help with regression testing before hitting hardware. With simple inputs and outputs and CAN/LIN messages this should be very doable and much simpler than trying to do the same with an inverter. Perhaps when I get a bit further with the Tesla M3 inverter I'll see what can be shared.

Any chance that the Toyota Battery control ECU is supported? It also controls the SMR’s iirc.

I’d like to use a small compact system as an assist to the ICE on the opposite axle. Thinking a Prius inverter, Rav4 Prime MGR, and a Toyota lithium battery pack. The whole point would be plug-in charging, and regen, for EV assist.
