Iman Simmonds hmmm. It came out in 1999, I tend not to go back and watch films that old for the first time because they’re bound to be problematic (probably misogynistic, definitely homophonic, etc) and I know it’ll take but one “joke” and I’ll lose interest.

I liked the movie 🍿. But why were they passing off those biracial looking kids as Monica and Morris kids? Had me thinking he’d cheated on Monica with some white lady, and the kids were there for holiday visitation schedule with Morris...or that Monica had to take care of Morris’s side-kids. No? A bloggers foster care/ adoption theory: The oldest two children were chocolaty brown and cute and look like they actually could be the offspring of Lance and Mia, who are two brown-skinned African-Americans. The youngest two were the cutest little biracial children you could ever see. In the family picture, they just looked…different. When I saw these cute little cherubs, I assumed they were adopted. And since they were clearly siblings, they MUST have adopted them from foster care as a sibling group. The movie received a serious side-eye from me when Lance said that he had been present for the birth of all four of his children. Not only because that was a serious suspension of disbelief but because they missed an opportunity to show a unstereoptypical version of foster care and adoption. For most of my friends, the only foster parent they know is an older retired lady (single or widowed) at church or down the street that takes in foster children for money. The only children in foster care that they have seen are out of control with extremely bad behaviors. Lance and Mia really could have provided a different face for foster care. They were wealthy, college-educated and would have no incentive to participate in foster care for the money.

I.love.you Evelyn! This review was so spot on - were we at the same theatre in 2013 LOL. I legit was done with Morris's christian value vibe whilst holding that grudge for umpteen years. I was out done with Monica having terminal cancer. I could not deny the star studdded eye candy. I totally agree - no more sequels; let's leave it alone Malcom Lee! It's definitely a movie to play in the background when you're putting up holiday decorations.

I watched both movies and I enjoyed both. I was a bit shocked that Morris actually married Monica at the end of the first movie and that Taye proposed to Sanaa, so the second movie made complete sense: the grudge between Morris and Taye, the lingering tension between Taye and Nia which causes Sanaa jealousy ...Unfortunately I knew Monica was gonna die but it was still really sad 😢 One of my favorite scene was when the guys were trying to define 3 values that truly represent them. After that, I had to find my own 😏 Oh and OBVIOUSLY the dance scene!!! SO MUCH HEAT with these FINE MEN!!!😈

This movie is 10 out of 10. Never seen the first movie. But this one gets watched every other month since it came out. It’s hilarious. There are so many gems in this movie. It’s hands down one of my favorites. You also don’t need to see the first one to know what’s going on in this one. Love love love

solid rating and review. The only reason why i know Terrernce Howard is acting and why i love his character in the movie is because Q is supposed to be from DC and so am I. He throws in DC slang to remind us. More so in the original one, which makes sense because he was younger. In this sequel I feel like they were trying to do everything at once - the feel good Christmas cheer, the drama, the romance and the fuzzy reunion. It ended sadly and, really, it could have been happier.
