Great intro showing the actual stick for the hook up flying with a gamepad. Still pretty insane to control almost everything with a gamepad.

The back paddle switch on the stick, at least on the hornet allows you to pull a few g's over the g limit

If a recall correctly the Paddle on the back of the A10 Stick disables the SAS and activates Manual reversion for the flight controls. basically the very last line of control for when all hydraulics and their backups are dead.

I do appreciate that it's possible to fly with a controller, but I very much like my hotas. Still, thanks for putting in the work.
@Kilanov7 ай бұрын
thats just the way it should be imo. I would love a hotas setup, but I just dont have the room or the money for it and am very glad i can get a decent experience still
@FJFuentesCO7 ай бұрын
I have a inexpensive HOTAS, but made the switch to the controller myself since the controller (Flydigi Vader Pro) actually gives me a lot more buttons. I was skeptical at first, but I feel like I have a lot more control over the aircraft with the controller.

Worth to mention that US air force and France DCS versions are not the same versions that one we use/fly. One of the things i love in DCS are the little hidden details (sounds, fauna and objects). A-10C was my first love, unitl the Hornet was released :) thank you for sharing your video.

To start flying DCS new player do not need even GamePad. Just Android smartphone. I use Monect PC app as joystick emulator and it works better then my old Logitech 3D pro joystick. Add Open Track + plugin for head tracking with just web-cam. And all set for newbie virtual pilot.

You should put the controller inputs on screen, that would be nice
@Tuuvas7 ай бұрын
Unfortunately that would be incredibly difficult and time consuming to superimpose all my inputs on the screen at the time they were pressed. The best I can do is just have the gamepad cam on screeen

@@Tuuvas a question for you. Lets say, time commitment nonwithstanding, is it possible for a human being to really *know* multiple modules in your opinion? Like, if you play exclusively the hornet for a week, how long does it take you to get back into the swing of an F16, for example? I know its a very vague question and will produce a very vague answer, but I generally have ~2000 hours a year or more to commit to learning DCS, I'm just not sure if its worth trying to learn (so far) 7 full fidelity modules, or if i should trim down my favorites list to a favorite favorites
@Tuuvas7 ай бұрын
Generally speaking, there's some carry over between modules. The basics of flight, navigation, general dogfighting rules, bvr ranges, etc. All that carries over between modules for the most part. The hardest thing to deal with when switching between modules are specific systems - for example, the radar page, or the tpod page, the waypoint input method, etc. I can mitigate some of the difficulty by using similar binds between modules, but I typically need 5 to 10 minutes to go "huh, how do I area track again?", "How do I lock up in TWS again?", or "How do I input a steerpoint again?"
@epicmangames8237 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for the tut! How do I fire the missles tho, I dont play with a hotas, do you know the keybind???

Hello tuvaas, thank you for your tutorial, but how am I supposed to bind the RDR Cursor Switch (Up, Down, Left and right) to be able to slew the TGP on my F-16C Viper? The FCR Radar slews automatically when I press LB and move the right joystick. The TGP does not. Even with it as SOI. I would highly appreciate some help please, thank you
@Tuuvas5 ай бұрын
If you're able to slew the radar cursor, then you should be able to slew the TGP. What steps are you following to enable tpod slew?

@Tuuvas7 ай бұрын
I recommend binding it to a keyboard key, then mapping that keyboard key to your controller via Steam. SRS is part of why I set LB to LAlt and RB to RAlt. That way I can set push to talk to either Alt key + my rear paddle mapped to LShift.

I fly with a good friend who is a Competition pilot who flies in SATAC and other international DCS tournaments where the most lethal A2A pilots battle. He flies on an Xbox controller, and he is extremely lethal. You are soundly incorrect in your judgment.
