I love melee singleplayer speedrunning, such an interesting and niche community. Please keep making videos like this, as someone who usually spends time in the competetive multiplayer side of melee i think this stuff is super interesting. And it's surprisingly hard to find good content about singleplayer modes. Lots of this history is at risk of being lost to time if people like you didnt document it, so keep it up!

Thanks! I'll do my best to keep up. I think it might be a little while till the next one because of exams and working on my master thesis. But this is for sure not gonna be the last one. Will squeeze in time to these kinds of projects wherever I can, it's so fun to do.

Awesome job I can see the step up in production quality since the E4 video and it was nice getting the history of another event, makes the 9.99 so much cooler.
@Vikingja18 күн бұрын
Thanks pal! Really happy with how it turned out. Your TAS also opened up for a great continuation for the event. I hope some runners will try it out, I know I will. The 9.99 will always be near and dear to my heart, truly something special.

Great video, which kept me interested throughout the whole thing. I know videos like this are a lot of work, but I would like to see more of them. I was expecting a surprise in the end that somehow someone did the 2 Star strategy in RTA, but maybe someday...
@Vikingja18 күн бұрын
Thanks! Some day the 2 Star run will happen RTA. I will do more of them for sure, but it might be a while till the next one. Exams are coming up for this semester and I gotta work on my master thesis next semester. After that I'll have more time to put in, but I'll for sure try to get some time into these longer project for sure!

Thanks! It's taken a lot of time, pretty happy with how it turned out! Hope to get more of these done, but I know the next half year is gonna be a bit hectic. Definitely not gonna be the last one!

This was phenomenal, great pacing, awesome insights into the history of the event and super hype when the records start getting wild. And we got a classic viking popoff! Let's go!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to see the future of the event, especially looking forward to the first 2 Star run RTA. The next chapter of this event is gonna get even more wild!

The production quality has improved a lot since your last documentary! Keep it up! 🔥
@Vikingja17 күн бұрын
Thanks! That's been something I've tried to work on for sure, so this means a lot to me. Gonna keep it up to the best of my ability, but I know that a lot of my time is gonna go to exams and my master thesis. So it might be a while till the next.

Thanks! It's a fun thing to work on, really interesting to learn about runs before I started running myself especially.

Thanks! Trying to get everything I can find in, it's of course hard to say if all times are legit from back in the days (I've seen a lot of fake times, but these seems legit). Lots of digging needed for the really old times.

Excuse me but you are incorrect, it is not just a "star" it is called a "Warp Star" 🤓☝️
@Vikingja14 күн бұрын
That's very true, I said "Warp Star" the first time then "Star" every time after. It's so much more convenient to say "Star", maybe I should have noted that out to be clear. In my mind it was very clear that I was referring to the "Warp Stars" since those are the only kinds of stars in the event. Sorry if that made the experience worse.

This video was so confusing.

What was confusing? Always nice to know what can be done better/more clear for next time.

@ I had a hard time tracking the progression of the runs and when you were narrating whether the clips playing were of what you were talking about or not. A lot of the clips were played multiple times in a row and then they would change without me realizing it. Also maybe explaining and using a graphic to show that the runs start with 38 seconds on the screen, so a sub-10 would have to be higher than 28 on the in game time. I had to kind of figure that out myself at some point.
@Vikingja4 күн бұрын
Ahh, very smart. Some graphics sounds like a nice thing to include for sure. When it comes to the timer, I 100% agree that it could be confusing, and it's a thing that I didn't even think of because it's so automatic to me. Happy to get the feedback and will make sure to include it (for the timer it will of course depend on the event since some events have the timer going up while other events have it going down).

So most people had no proof and yall said fuck it they telling the truth lmfao
@Vikingja17 күн бұрын
The early 2000's were different, not too many had capture cards so proofs were lacking. There are many times back then that was questioned, and some that easily could be called out to be fake. The first one here that I feel confident that's real is the run from Infernum (I'd also say the same for Sin). Infernum have (had more, but some are gone) proof for many of his runs. Some people would share their strats back in the days, and that would be the closest thing to a proof I guess. It's unfortunate that videos back in the days were scarce, and it's also sad that many forums that were used back in the days are down. It is what it is, at least now we have videos for pretty much everything. There is still one event that doesn't have a video for the world record. The closest thing we have to proof for it (I'd say it's good enough to believe) is: The time that's displayed on High Score (something that can be seen in the video record), the splits (since it's an All Star event) was shared, and this runner has proven himself to be a beast.
@garro554316 күн бұрын
@Vikingja so like I said there wasn't proof and we gave people records for shits and giggles it's a very flawed system cant go back in time and say I hit 19 home runs in one game but there's no proof lol there would be no record
@Vikingja16 күн бұрын
Flawed system for sure, but sometimes that's the best we can do. Even these days it's no guarantee that a run isn't faked in some way. There will always be some kind of trust in speedrunning. Some cheated runs might never even be found. It is what it is.
@garro554315 күн бұрын
@Vikingja that's a lie we call fake runs out every day wtf do you are you talking about go do some research on fake runs lol
@garro554315 күн бұрын
@Vikingja difference in feeling like a video isn't real and no video at all we gave people records simply because we trusted them it's not real and wrong you agree and disagree at the same time you can't do that
