I am 51 and I have been watching and listening to Elvis since I was 7 years old and I have seen this interview a million times and have never noticed the uneven sideburns. Hey . I have noticed that for years but figured no one else really cared or noticed. I also have the Elvis sideburns and always spend a lot of time to try and get them just right when shaving and it is very time consuming. My feeling is that is was either a mistake or just an over site on his part. Who cares , Elvis’s worst day was way better than most people’s best day. Thanks for this fun video.⚡️👑🇺🇸

I believe it was the style. If you noticed, those images of where you see the uneven side burns, his hair is a side comb look, where the side of where the side burn seems longer, is the side of which the hair is parted to.

I think that since our faces aren't symmetrical that when we look straight into the mirror, maybe he thought they looked even? I always wondered about his uneven sideburns. That's the only logical reason I can come up with. It appeared to be that way all through '72. Even on Elvis on Tour.

YES... FINALLY!!! Thank you, man. I've noticed it for years, but figured it was a rather weird thing to notice and start a conversation about 😂 It's probably more noticeable here than usual, but they actually almost never matched 100 percent. Not even in the '68-Comeback Special, TTWII, On Tour or Aloha. Just go back and check out those and other footage and especially photos from the 1970's and you'll see that more often than not they usually were slightly uneaven, with the left one slightly longer and more pointy. But during the June tour it was really noticable. Thnx for the great detective work, brother 👍⚡

It's because he shaved with an electric shaver and never let his facial hair grow out at all to make corrections. Once that line for the sideburn is in, if you use that method it's hard to change the shape waiting for other parts to grow out to fix it. I have had sideburns my whole life so have exp with it. Same goes for a beard shape. Don't forget there wasn't camera's in everyone's hands all day taking footage like there is now so people were not aware even ELVIS of their daily image as much.

I always noticed that. A similar thing happened with the aloha special, too. In the rehearsal, his hair and sideburns were darker. And for both performances, they were shaped differently from left and right

Maybe it was an electric shaving accident. Maybe Elvis accidentally cut off the tip and didn't know what else to do but just go with it. Like someone else mentioned. It's just a testament to the charisma and beauty of Elvis that no one ever noticed. Or if they did they were way too respectful to even bring it up in an interview.

YES!!! I noticed it many, many years ago and have always wondered how that could happen! Surely, the right one looked squared-off and asymmetrical from it not being combed into place, like, maybe it got messed up. Or was it like that during the MSG concert footage, too? I noticed something interesting about Elvis's sideburns in the 1968 Comeback Special. On one side, the sideburn has a sharp, pointed angle near his cheekbone, while on the other side, it looks slightly different, less defined. It's a subtle difference, but it caught my attention." it's not the same from the other his sideburn if you look at the scene when he's singing the gospel song when he's wearing that red suit his Sideburn is like pointy but it's different sideburns when he's wearing the leather jacket it's like flat I apologize if I mistaken about elvis sideburns

I've noticed that along time ago about he's sideburns . Its because the hair grows different on each side of the face . I have a beard and I shave on the sides and under the neck and my right and left side are a little different shape it's because it's hard to get them perfectly even . And the hair grows a little different on the right side then the left side I suspect when Elvis grew he's sideburns longer he had the same problem

This has been a pet peeve of mine forever......I noticed this a long time ago and was always wondering why it was so. One explanation could be the most logical....his facial hair didnt grow the same way on the left vs the right side of his face.......and also if you notice, during Elvis on Tour movie footage, he has his hair covering his right side burn which I think may have even been cut smaller at the time.....His hair is not covering his left sideburn. Check out the Elvis on Tour video....especially footage of him in the powder blue suit. It is very noticeable there.
