After watching well over a hundred of his videos, I think there are three principal reasons why this channel is so popular. 1) he checks out interesting products. 2) he generally seems to say it like it is and describe things from/to a layperson's perspective. 3) he is likeable and quite charming.

These are EXCELLENT for people who are hard of hearing because it relies on bone conduction as opposed to a possibly damaged ear drum. Also EXCELLENT for street runners and cyclists so they can hear oncoming traffic. I also use them often in my office - I need some white noise to maintain focus but if someone comes up behind me or needs my attention I can hear them without them having to tap me and make me jump not

+GracieLou They still rely on your ears to function properly. Bassically the sound travels through your bone into your ear dum, instead of through the air into your ear drum. you still need your ears to convert the vibration into something your brain can understand.
@RansomReed
@RansomReed 8 жыл бұрын
+martinshoosterman Even still they don't use true bone conduction technology. If you plug up the speaker openings the audio isn't really intelligible. These are more like a cheap commercial version of the technology.
@loganleavitt3928
@loganleavitt3928 8 жыл бұрын
+martinshoosterman actually, if you did your research, you would know that bone conduction headphones directly bypass the eardrum and transfer vibrations to the bones that "decode" the sound waves to something our brain understands
@RansomReed
@RansomReed 8 жыл бұрын
+Logan Leavitt Lol and if you did your research you'd know the only way to achieve true bone conduction is through direct contact with the bone. Hearing aids that utilize the technology have to be surgically implanted in order to achieve proper sound.
@FlameSoulis
@FlameSoulis 8 жыл бұрын
From this video, I actually got them and I will admit, they are a different sense of hearing. The vibrations can be intense if set too high, but under normal volume, it isn't noticeable. They're also very light and have one of the most useful features possible: they put the pairing instructions DIRECTLY on the inside band of the headphones! No more looking up manuals!

Flame Soulis how is the sound quality ?
@FlameSoulis
@FlameSoulis 8 жыл бұрын
It's not bad. It's a bit hard to describe, because the bass isn't the same as normal headphones, in the sense that it has 'feeling' now. Not a lot of feeling, but its there. These won't be competing with any Sennheisers, but when it comes to mid-high range, these things are king. Again, bass is good, but too much and too high of volume can make them vibrate.
@doninikgrguric

Is there a lot sound bleed ?
@FlameSoulis
@FlameSoulis 7 жыл бұрын
Thunder breaker none. It may seem like it if on a surface or if held, but that would be due to the bone conductors vibration. When worn, there is zero bleeding.

I have the older version, the Bluez 2 (No S) and I love them. They bleed more than the newer one and I also lost my adjustable strap because the slot it fits into cracked and wouldn't hold it anymore. Still easily worth the $100 I paid for them on amazon. I've been a owner for over 9 months and I have never regretted my purchase. I use them everyday. It is especially useful for driving cars and motocycles since I can hear the traffic around me and a sick beat.

Evan Diliberto its pretty easy to do all you need is a 3.5mm Y-cable and a bluetooth transmitter (Reflexion AD3 for instance) but you also need a way to delay the sound and adjust for the lag. Even 2 different brands of bluetooth headphones can have lag. Anything above 20ms lag will be quite noticeable and sound bad.

This type of bone conduction is used by many single sided deafened people (deaf in one ear). basically the hearing aid is on the deaf ear, picks up the sound which is connected to a similar type of device that conducts the sound to the other ear. They are commonly surgically implanted. In fact, there are some that have bluetooth capability, so you could literally pair your head with a phone.

This is great for those with conductive hearing problems. If someone has problems with their ear drums or surrounding areas, then stimulating the cochlea directly is the way to go. Would work better if they are placed behind the ear though, right on the mastoid. Very cool product.
@BigQuackz
@BigQuackz 7 жыл бұрын
Bone conduction basically means it's sending the sound vibrations through your bones rather than through the air like the sound we typically hear. The three smallest bones in your body, which coincidentally are inside your ear behind your ear drum, actually use this method for your hearing to send the vibrations of your ear drum to your inner ear.

Actually the bone conduction leads the sound from bones directly to the mid ear! so, if the ear drum is damaged, then this will enable them to hear but if the auditary nerve is damaged, then unfortunately it wont!

I am profound deaf, and yes, it does help! However it is not in "hearing aid" mode, which means hearing things from outside and amplify them to your headphones directly. But it has been a BIG help, as I am able to play better in games, being able to tell where shots came from (right or left?) and all that jazz! Also I am able to enjoy music as well rather than having to place my feet on subwoofer blaring like crazy.

If anyone happens to read the comments, I can recommend these especially for motorcyclists. You can wear earplugs, but still listen to music and have some situational awareness left when it comes to audio. Also, helmets push these against the temporal bone, so the sound is way better than just wearing them normally. 10/10 for motorcycling.

I heard somewhere (Scishow I think) that rhythmic vibrations on your bones have a sort of healing effect. One example of this idea is that cats' purring could be how they quickly heal themselves. If that same concept worked with this headset instead of earphones, it could be a way to heal head injuries while listening to podcasts or music :P

Simply put, it basically works the same way as how you're able to hear your own voice even if you cover your ears. It's also much better for your hearing since you're not blowing your eardrums out from trying to overcome the background noise.

I have a pair that I use every day at work. Personally I put the arms of my glasses on the outside of them and they're fine, putting them on over my glasses isn't ideal though because the glasses reduce the gripping pressure of the headphones which can make them a bit harder to hear as well as more likely to slip out of the correct position. They don't make much noise so having the right pressure in the right spot is very important.

it would be cool if you had a handheld Sonic transducer , and tune the mic to pick up the noise, The Sonic transducer will allow you to hear hall ways open rooms and maybe even objects,moving the handheld device around objects you can almost see any object, with hearing ,

I have these and I love them. I suggest getting a pair of hero type earplugs that musicians use to block some of the outside noise. They make them sound so much better, the bass really comes through. The good thing about the higher quality earplugs, is they don't muffle outside noise, as they cut all frequencies equally, and depending on how far you insert them in your ear you can still hear what's going on around you. Another use is to be able to listen to music and audiobooks/podcasts at the same time. I pair the Trekz to an Ipod and have a set of Airpods connected to my phone. That way I can mix the two together, and as a bonus the Treks sound better with the airpods in my ears, same affect as the earplugs.

because speakers and microphones work on the same principle. Can we make a bone microphone that picks up the auditory vibrations in your bone and converts that to a sound signal. That would be really cool as no external sound would interfere. That would be the most reliable headset mic ever.
