Do you happen to have or can create a guide for like outdoor zones to animal charm in from classic to pop? You have such a wealth of information figured I’d ask. Also indoor be fine as long as it has animals so assuming it’s only outdoor?

Up to level 55 the Enchanter's charm spells are good on almost any mob that's charmable. Just stick to mobs that are blue to green in color to you and that can be mezzed and you're good to go. Search my videos for Best charm pets and you'll see some of the best ones in the game.

Did you ever run into a road block with the Dark Elf? Would a different race have made a difference?

The DE is a good choice with the hide skill, so it has a racial advantage.

Root prevents mobs from running away.

But it costs more mana. I think it is 30 mana which is a lot at that level.

Rooting also forces them to turn and fight. Unless there's a chance the mob will aggro others as it's walking away, never use Root or it will stop trying to get away and will instead fight to the death.
