If you're ever out by the Chicago area in the US, look up Galloping Ghost arcade. It's the largest arcade in US as far as I know, they have something like over 800 games and it's absolutely insane. My husband and I went a couple years ago and it was an awesome experience for two people who grew up with arcades.

Really great episode and it's really cool to see you guys so close to Western New York where I live. I miss the days of the arcades so much. Obviously there's still a few around but you know what I mean. Even that nationwide arcade called timeout that used to be in all the malls across the US! Time out was actually how I ever first got into tournaments in arcades! Merry Christmas yep ☃️🎄🦌🎁🎅🏼

While it was a nice showing of games and areas that I'm not likely to ever see, I wanted to say this just in case your not aware. I would assume you know about this but arcades do have mechanisms that are the dip switches. While they can control many things 1 of those factors that should be common in many games is difficulty. Since the purpose is to get that money, most machines are set at high levels but some high difficulties are definite coin guzzlers.

Absolutely adored Skylon when I visited. Old-school arcades with all their machines intact are like a living museum, and it gets more and more awesome the longer they preserve these machines. Man, I'm jealous. Here in Finland these kinds of arcade places are a rare sight. Places where there is arcade machines seem also bit random. Some hotels or gas stations may have one or two coin operated arcade games like "Sega Rally" or "Time Crisis", but mostly your best bet to find arcade machines to play is at amusement parks like "Linnanmäki" at Helsinki, Finland or "Särkänniemi" at Tampere, Finland.

22:54 - I run a small arcade in California, often when machines are left on overnight, especially in the summer, the heat will cause the coin chute to warp, allowing multiple coins to stack up side by side and jam in the machine. Most customers don't bother reporting jams anymore, if you're lucky and throw a coin in, you can knock one loose and get it back with your own. The more you know.

On 1 of our many visits to Niagara Falls, ON, we stumbled upon that lower level arcade in the Skylon Tower. I was absolutely ecstatic to see all the old-school arcade games. I had so much fun. It was almost like I had gone back in time to an arcade from the 1990's. I also spent way too much time and money there, much to the annoyance of my girlfriend. I highly recommend checking this arcade out if you are visiting the Clifton Hill area. The Skylon Tower also offers some of the cheapest and best all day parking around. I have to mention though, the last time I visited this arcade about a year and a half ago, they had way fewer arcade games, so it looks like they have recently been expanding their collection even more. Hopefully they will continue to do so.

This is a really good exploration of the greatest strengths and major drawbacks of arcade gaming. Being able to fine tune the machine’s design and controller for each game results in experiences you can’t quite replicate on general platforms like console and PC, but at the same time that same inability to replicate makes them difficult to come across and nearly impossible to repair. I also noticed at 6:32 that the cup full of tokens was placed on Harpoon Lagoon. I remember when me and my friend used to farm tickets by teaming up to hit the shark; one of us would hit one of the surrounding fish while the other aimed at the shark through the opening. It was one of my best arcade memories, but by the next year we visited it had disappeared (hopefully not because of its exploitability). The plight of the preservation of arcade games is a quiet tragedy.

The aside to explain "Raw Thrills" was a relief in a way. Usually when one brand/company starts taking up spaces like this, it's some kind of license-holder taking things in a bad direction. "Oh, [BRAND] made this one, too..." Cool that it's actually linked to someone who has a history developing classic games rather than being some kind of cynical investment subsidiary.

This episode makes me homesick. I grew up in Buffalo and spent A LOT of my time in the Clifton Hill area growing up. We'd go see the Falls, or go to Marineland, and always make a stop. I miss full capsule games, such as Afterburner and Outrun, that used to shake and move, or the sit down versions of games like Spy Hunter. Light gun games were always more fun with a partner. I was a huge fan of the Time Crisis series.

Cruisn usa is one of the more special games to me. I remember playing it in arcades a lot then had a sleepover at a friends house for his birthday and the n64 had just been released so his mom rented us a n64 from blockbuster in that big black briefcase they had their rentals in and we rented mario 64 and cruisn usa and i was blown away at mario for being 3d and so amazing but also blown away by cruisn just because it was a damn near perfect arcade port of one of my favorite arcade games. It was my first experience with the 64 and what seemed like a regular sleepover turned into a lifetime memory that i think back to often

This is all so nostalgic. I grew up in Buffalo NY, right on the other side of the river and rubbing shoulders with the Falls itself. We used to head up there every so often, not for the falls, it's mundane for locals, no. It was for the shopping, for the food, and for the experience of all the other stuff. And the Casino when that got built, but only the once. The arcade experience back in the late 90's and early 2000's was something else. Glad it's still thriving.

Operation G.H.O.S.T controller having actual weight to it is very impressive in design. Since to those who have never used, wielded or own rifles, these guns have weight to them. It would make them more accurate to how using rifles works than any COD propaganda news article would tell you. On a side note, this reminds me of when I played Mocap boxing on an arcade when I was a kid. Let me tell you that game was ahead of its time. It actually felt like you were in a boxing match, and you would be sweating buckets after you were done.

If you ever come to NJ, look for Billy's Midway Arcade. It's a by the hour joint with many classic cabinets and pinball. Lots of retro stuff. Also, there's the Lucky Snake at the Showboat in Atlantic City. Largest arcade in that area, on a former Casino floor.

Thank you for finally bringing back a review style video. While I love Just Bad Games, I still prefer the older styled videos.

It's really cool how they don't just stick to one format and it still all *works.* With their creativity and energy, plus great camera and editing staff, it's all entertaining and funny regardless.

Interesting info and the Fun Zone on Clifton Hill, it has actually gone through a few new name and general changes. Before becoming the Fun Zone it was a Captain Jack's Pirate's Cove, and before that it was an actual Dave & Busters that took up the entire building with multiple floors.

Darke escape 40 was probably one of my favorite cabinets I've ever played so far. I was super sad when our local Dave & Buster's got rid of it for whatever reason. Also the Terminator cabinet is a total quarter muncher. I played it during free play days and I have not been able to memorize how to avoid getting hit in some circumstances multiple times throughout the game.
