This is spot on. When I did it we did 25% bricklaying, 75% a combined down the pub because it rained a few drops for 15minutes or my boss fighting someone, in the pub/on-site or the mechanic fixing his jet ski/dirt bike/truck that week. The money went on beers and those bingo tickets, I don't know if they still do them.

The summer of my junior year of high school I worked as a bricklayers helper . it was the hardest work I've ever done . If the bricklayer runs out of block or mortar they just stop working and yell " I need mud or I need block " . Then the big boss gets pissed at us for not working fast enough to keep them supplied . It's really tough when you are 3 or 4 scaffolds high . It did make a man out of me .
