I’m still working on this. But I’ve noticed that after each time I’ve fallen, I’ve gotten better each time. Habits are being broken, triggers are identified and steps are taken to avoid them, I take my faith more seriously, and I overall do not give up trying. Failures are frustrating and devastating at times, but I get back up and try again to be better. I repent over and over, but it is through Jesus Christ that I am able to take this new change of heart and mind seriously. Yes we should practice self control but the idea of keeping count of how long you go without giving in can be dangerous. Because if you go a year without doing it and finally give in, you can feel like you it’s impossible and you will condemn yourself. Not saying it will happen for sure but it’s possible. Instead of putting all of my power into not sinning I put my power into reading the word and spending time with God and the desire to sin will lessen. I’m a guy and I know people will call me soft (even Christian guys) but I don’t want people to think it’s all in their own will to not sin. Especially when you hear someone say “just man up” or “it’s not that hard just try harder” I grew up with that mindset and it became a real burden esp after failing so many times. Like I said I know people will call me soft but I actually like being dependent on God.
