I think the problem with this book is that it really hard to have a cut-off point for powers. Most of the cast are aliens or other species, so technically their powers are natural to them. You could limit it to granted powers but that would only take out like two heros. All in all, kinda doomed from the start.

The problem is that every superhero gets a "I've lost my powers!" story at one time or another. So most of these characters probably have better individual stories handling this concept. I thought Marvel's "Powerless" was a better idea, reimagining the Marvel characters as people in the "Real world," without powers. Daredevil is just a blind lawyer trying to get the Kingpin behind bars, Peter Parker is just a nerd who got a shriveled arm from being bitten by a spider, etc. Only problem is the Logan story ventured into spy noir which was interesting but sort of pushed the limit of things being realistic.

At some point partway through this video, I hit on what I think would have been a neat idea: Instead of being smushed by Toyman's lame robot, Steel survives and goes on to become some kind of inventor helping the former heroes simulate their lost powers through his tech, sort of like a benevolent Tinkerer from Marvel comics. Also, Superman's reaction reminds me of Super Dave Osborne after attempting and failing to perform some kind of silly stunt that totally wrecks him while he 's yelling "NEW PAIN! RECORD PAIN!" And, I don't know f you know about this, but chances are, you do, but I'll just mention it anyway just in case one of your other subscribers reads this and is interested: In about 1969, Larry Niven wrote an essay involving the difficulties pre-Crisis Superman might have engaging in sexual activities with a human woman (named "LL" in the essay) called "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex." I found it an amusing read.

This video just broke the matrix for me. I just found out about tugs story yesterday. I was looking to see if someone had a good quality video on it and found nothing. And then you post this. What a time to be alive Edit: yeah so much wasted potential here. This actually could’ve been so good. I wish they would redo this and do it right. Make it a black label miniseries. I am so disappointed. Like, they could’ve made this concept make so much more sense too. Without thinking about who could make this happen, you could make the black light event a coordinated series of multiple things all happening together. One of them could just be the meta gene being “shut off”. Another could be magic losing all power on earth. Then maybe some sort of contagion that neutralizes anything that isn’t native to Earth. Those are all rushed ideas, but having something similar that is very specific in what it does would be nice. Because then we could actually understand the exceptions. Like the stipulations I lied out I don’t think would apply to the green, the red, and the rot because I don’t think they’d actually count as magic. Also the speed force would be unaffected. Which means those things could be ways heroes and villains try to compensate for the new status quo. You could see the the forces (speed, sage, strength, and slow) become unstable due to way more people tapping into them, which could cause varying effects and weaken the amount of power they grant anyone. Same with the red green and rot. There would be people trying to compensate with gadgets and genetic experimentation. Heck maybe have the earth moved to a dimension that keeps it in stasis and outside of time until the end of volume 1 or 2 so that no one can time travel and there is no outside help. There’s so many different ways this could go, a competent writer just needs to pick options, make rules, plan it out, and then stay consistent with the ideas and themes. I mean jeez DC I’ll do it myself if you want I just want to see this be executed effectively.
