Because WSM cares more about entertaining the casuals watching on TV than about taking strongman seriously as an actual sport. @abner21932 жыл бұрын
No since Eddie's 'competition' was tailor made for his 500kg lift. He got to dictate what the weight jumps were as well as the rest periods. And if you watched Thors 501kg lift, he only took a minute rest or less between his lifts of 420, 465, 501kg whereas Eddie took over 20mins of rest before his 500kg lift.
@EVO6-2 жыл бұрын
Calling Eddie's showcase sideshow a 'competition' is a complete joke. It was absolutely an exhibition itself. Hafþór wasn't able to have a competition because of covid so he brought all of the competition conditions - ref, regulation etc - to his gym. Eddie lifted with his own bar, picked his own weights, did everything Hafþór did. There is zero pragmantic difference between the two lifts.

Lol what? Eddie didn't do a full comp. He had a sham competition segment where they let him show up with his own equipment and made sure he got to attempt the record before Benny and Jerry, who were wheeled out there to make it look legit. It was a facade to let Eddie do the lift with the bare minimum stipulations to categorise 'in competition'. Even if Magnússon or Pritchett could break it they had to go after Eddie, so they would only tie it and not break it. They literally lifted under the exact same pragmatic conditions. Thor being forced to do it alone because Covid canceled the event he was scheduled to do it at changes nothing beyond the surface level.
