For this list, we’ll be paying tribute to the dearly departed actors from the franchise by going back to the very last time we got to see them transform into superheroes. Since a few of these morphs happen at pivotal times, there will be spoilers. I feel kinda robbed when they added JDF to the in honor of at the end. The green ranger was just captured. He also fought at the funeral. Tbh, that’s all I remember him doing. The green ranger’s most memorable moment in the entire thing was probably when Kat mentioned him in her first appearance. It would be more honorable if JJ were to also be with Trini’s child. So I really feel like there was no right to say that this honors JDF. But it does honor Thuy.

Many of my workmates through the years sang praises of what a nice, friendly, professional and Power Ranger ambassador Jason Franks "Tommy" was during the different Comic Cons they went to. He was always warm and giving. PR was my OG guilty pleasure, and I remembered when he first appeared. Remembering him then & through the Comic Con stories truly broke my heart when he chose to leave us. I hope his friends and family can take some solice in knowing how he deeply touched people for the person he was not only a PR.

When Thuy Trang died in 2001, it was a gut punch for the franchise. When JDF died over 6 months ago, was heartbroken throughout the whole world. They’re gone but not forgotten. Tommy and Trini were the OG Power Rangers and their strength & courage made everyone so excited. When JDF arrived in heaven; the gates opened and the first person to see was Thuy, they walked to each other and hugged with comfort & joy. May The Protect Them. RIP 🟢💛⚡️

I didn't even know Thuy Trang died until 2004. I found out JDF died the next day. Obviously, there was no social media like Facebook or KZbin in 2001 so news didn't travel around as good plush it was close to 9/11 so that got the main focus on the news.

Jason David Frank's death was the one death that shocked me the most. It pains me that I along with a lot of fans of the Power Rangers franchise won't ever see Tommy morph again. When I saw Robo-Rita blast Trini over the cliff to explode, it felt like seeing JDF's death in front of me as well as feeling the 21 years long shock of Thuy Tang's death for the first time. Thuy died right before 9/11. Her death got overshadowed by that event. Tommy was a regular in the pop culture convention circuit. A few years ago he and Kimberly were at the same con and both of their booths were the longest out of all the other celebrities. So sad Jason David Frank wasn't able to realize how special he was to his fans.

​@Robert Rogers In hindsight, with Jason's retirement prior to his death, it was also a farewell of sorts of his involvement with the series. I could see if Pua didn't have his demons that the triple Ninja Rangers team up could have happened with the Alien Rangers, Ninja Steel and Ninja Storm teams as well. Rather or not the original Alien Rangers cast members would fly to New Zealand along with the non New Zealand Ninja Storm cast members is another story.

JDF hurts a lot since he is the only Ranger to live a great legacy. I will give this, I think Dimensions In Danger was a decent end to Jason as Tommy especially since he becomes Green, White, Red and Black in one episode which is awesome. Pua is another big loss because only months and one year before his death, I watched the whole thing of Power Rangers Ninja Storm on Netflix and it was a awesome and sick Power Rangers season. I’ll always remember seeing Jason at Supanova in Sydney back in 2016 and saying to him that he did such an amazing job portraying one of my favourite characters from my late nineties and early 2000s childhood, Tommy Oliver as I solely remember watching vhs tapes of Season 2 and 3 of Mighty Morphin (during Tommy’s time as the White Ranger), the 1995 film and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie and watching repeats of Power Rangers Turbo after kindergarten (when Tommy was the Red Turbo Ranger). I even had the White Tigerzord action figure I got as a hand me down when I was five years old too. Jason’s shock death in 2022 was a kick in the gut to my childhood and it still hurts me to this day!

It’s so weird remembering some of these actors now; they say you should never meet your heroes, that you’ll always be disappointed. But that’s not the case for most of these actors, especially Jason. The guy was so friendly it was borderline ridiculous, and lived up to every ounce of the heroism he portrayed on screen. I wish I got to meet the rest of the actors in order to say the same about them, and I’d like to think they embodied the characters they displayed at the time as well…

RIP to Jason David Frank AKA Tommy. He was a big part of my childhood. Too bad the once Black Ranger, Jose Maria DeCastro aka Delete Laws aka Chille isn’t on this list. He made the show but I’m pretty sure he was fired before any of his actual screen time aired due to his extremely inappropriate and aggressive behaviors to the other actors, especially female actors (allegedly). He’s now a KZbin grifter and so called “constitutional law scholar”, who basically goes around the country making a complete fool of himself, harassing people, e-begging, living out of his sister’s van, getting himself arrested and then threatening judges when things don’t go his way. He also says he sues people for a living, but hasn’t won one yet. He is on film shoving/assaulting a woman. He is just a terrible person and it’s wild that he was, at one time, a power ranger. Major Kudos to the HR department/producers of the show for seeing what a train wreck he was and bouncing him from the cast in short order. He has a stupid channel called DeleteLawz and a former channel called SuperNecessaryHuman if anyone needs a good laugh.

A year after Robert Axelrod passed away, Lord Zedd was voiced by Stig Eldred (who voiced Kraw in “S.P.D.”) in “Beast Morphers” in 2020 in archive footage. Another year later, Lord Zedd actually came back to life but is voiced by Andrew Laing (who voiced Venjix in “RPM” and a decade later when Venjix returned as Evox in “Beast Morphers”) in both seasons “Dino Fury” in 2021 and 2022. Months later after portraying Zedd, Laing quit due to internet harassment and was replaced by Fred Tatasciore (who voiced Goldar in the 2017 Movie) in “Cosmic Fury”. None of these guys will live up to Robert Axelrod’s flawless portrayal of this villain. And even after Axelrod is gone, we can never escape Lord Zedd’s wrath.

I heard that in the comics, Zenowing actually died during one of Heckyl’s attempts to become the Dark Dino Charge Ranger. I don’t read the comics, but if it wasn’t on screen, it didn’t happen. Since Zenowing wasn’t physically portrayed, he can easily be recasted like many other Power Rangers monsters over the years.

Actually JDF passed away because his wife Tammie filed for divorce towards him. His mental health is definitely a dominant factor as well as him losing his daughter back in 2021 but the divorce is what finally pushed him over the edge.

I really miss you Jason David Frank, you are my biggest hero. I know it's very sad that you are gone, and I'm really worried what can Power Rangers live without you as Tommy. But now you'll be in heaven with Thuy Trang and the other deceased Power Ranger stars. No matter what happens, no matter how hard things get, I will never give up my life as a chef and myself. You gave courage, strength, honor, and focus. Your legacy will live on and I will never forget you. May the Power be with us all, always.
