Oh, Jill! I loved Vanessa's story when I read your book and will definitely be making this for family soon! I know I commented a few years ago on one of your recipes about how in the late seventies and well into the eighties that I was riding/working on the Hunter/ Jumper "A" Horse Show Circuit and that our idea of an impromptu Happy/Cocktail hour if we were lucky enough to have the time was: 1 8oz. brick of cream cheese on which we dumped a bottle of Lea & Perrin's... Do you remember? We thought we were so hot...numbnuts that we were! PS: We drank Amaretto and grapefruit juice coctails and named it something very inapropriate. ANyway, Vanessa's looks WAY more sophisticated, yet so simple...just my kind of recipe! Thanks Jill for bringing all of the stories in your book to us and for letting me ramble!

Hi constance! I do remember! And I'm so happy you read her story, I am truly jealous of her childhood! I hope you do make yes! It's so good. And I must tell you, there is absolutely nothing wrong with inappropriately named cocktails, lol!

Watching you bring to life the recipes from your book the past few weeks has been so cool. We love making cheese balls. How did we not know pineapple could be used this way? We love almost anything seventies, and this will be a great new treat to try. Excellent series; you rock!

I know this will be heresy but a cheese log would seem to be a better form factor- more surface area for nuts and easier slices!

Looks delicious, I need to try this. I grew up in dairy land so cheese is a food group to me, and cheese balls and logs are always in my refrigerator during the holidays for surprise company. I'm pacing myself on the book, I'm about halfway through. I don't want to be finished with it yet because I'm enjoying it SO much!

I'm so happy you're enjoying the book! It warms my heart so much! When I first released it I immediately got the fear that everyone would think it would be stupid. So nothing makes me happier than hearing all these wonderful comments about the book. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping cheese balls and cheese logs in your fridge! My kind of fridge!

1st! Looks delicious, Jill! I don't think I could form that with my bare hands. Maybe wet food gloves! 😜
@getoffmydarnlawn2 жыл бұрын
For Christmas I just spoon it onto the plastic wrap and roll it like you would for making refrigerator cookie dough that you would slice and bakd, no messy hands because you only touch the plastic wrap and you get a cheese (yule) log instead of a cheese ball. This works for me because I like a slightly higher nut to cheese ratio.
