Stefan Feld is a genius imo. I love how he slapped every critic in the community that whined about the point salad with a game that has no points lol.

This is my absolute favourite game. It's heavy and takes a long time but the time flies by. It's genius is that while you're waiting for your turn again you're always planning your next move. This can become scuppered by the next players turn making you re-plan, so it's very strategic and reactive. It really is an epically brilliant game and a lot simpler than it may appear.

"I bet you wouldn't know this is a Stefan Feld game." But it's got his face on the reward symbols for the God track XD.

At the end, the cover for "Hellas" is shown, not Oracle of Delphi.

It's got Greek temples, so at least they're in the ball park. :)

Is versitality like randomosity or is it closer to longetivity?

I'm happy to see what this game is about finally. Strange looking game. I would like to try it, but I don't have hugely high hopes. Side note, what's up with Jason's audio?

I just learned/played this game, and I loved it! But I disagree that it doesn't "feel" like Feld. (I'm a big fan of all the Feld games I've played). While I know that Tom was saying that mostly because it's not a point-based game like (all?) his others, it still had a lot of elements that were very familiar to me as a Feld fan. The way you use dice to take actions and the way you can spend favor tiles to changes the value of the dice you roll is very similar to the main action mechanic of Castles of Burgundy. Also wanted to point out a rules error Tom made in case anyone gets confused (I know his explanation isn't intended to be enough to play the game without reading the rules). Defeating a monster gives you an Equipment Card, NOT a Companion (he called it hero) Card. Raising a statue gives you the Companion Cards.

(Just got to the part where Tom said it did actually feel more like Feld after being reminded of that Castles of Burgundy similarity).

It could be a lot of work, but maybe coloring the dice tower with usual colors (green, blue, yellow) instead of it being blue would help the new thumbnails

Just a note and I'm not judging. The Oracle of Delphi is pronounced "Dell-Fee". :)
@Atlas-FM88 жыл бұрын
also there's only one "Oracle." Tom missed that at the beginning haha.

In Greek the D in Delphi is pronounced like the "th" in "the" Δελφοί
@strongjas8 жыл бұрын
No...the Greek letter here is "Delta" and has a similar sound to our "D." The "th" sound in the Greek comes from the Greek letter "Theta" (for those who are looking for little language lesson!).
@cthulwho81978 жыл бұрын
In America it's pronounced Delf-eye, everywhere else in the world (including Greece) it's Dell-Fee.😄 I believe it's because of a famous America car company(?) who has always pronounced it as -eye so that's how most Americans know it. Although it may be because of the University houses pronouncing each Greek letter separately.

@@cthulwho8197 in reference to the Oracle of Delphi, (actually there were often more than one but only ever one high priestess at a time sort of thing), it's pretty clear the Greek should be preferred. The Oracles were not a myth. They were a succession of women who held that religious position and inhaled the natural gases from the mountain to have hallucinations and trances in certain seasons. Alexander the Great went there... things of this nature.

They missed the one big negative. Entirely random event triggering brutal lose-a-turns that can swing the entire game. It feels like it belongs in another game... one designed in 1997...

Trick or Treat if they found it to be an issue they would have mentioned it.
@GendoIkari_827 жыл бұрын
I can understand that complaint, but you can choose your level of risk there... you can choose to put yourself in a situation where you win unless a 6 happens to be rolled, or you can choose to play it safer and make sure you can't lose a turn no matter what, though doing so may mean sacrificing other important actions. That part of it to reminds me a lot of Kingsburg; I've had more than one game come down completely to the final die roll when fighting the year 5 monster. Some players choose a strategy where they ensure they will kill the monster; while other players choose a strategy where they only can beat the monster if the king's die rolls well enough.

6:40 That's not right. Red player is looking for a red tile under the clouds, if it's not red you get a reward if it matches your greek letters. Every video has this wrong, Joel Eddie, Jon gets games, havent checked rahdo...

His stuff feels very samey! What about Mr Rosenberg and his bizarre farming affinity? Every game of his is basically the same, yet Tom praises every game of his. That's funny.

Why not streamlining it a bit and only allowing to draw 2-3 heroes and pick one. No, he had to give a player a whole deck to pick from.. :)

You can only pick from three, from the color of the monster you defeated.
