@philbarton2832 yeah the Bioshock wrench is like I'm good with it being on the list somewhere near the bottom, whereas the Half-Life crowbar is a no brainer to be on the list and somewhere near the top. And don't get me wrong I love Bioshock but the crowbar is more iconic than the wrench.

If you haven't played it it does sound crazy for a #1 spot but Iceborne can definitely sit there. It has nearly more content than base game and extended the games life span by like 3 year. It was incredible.

Kevin is wrong the first assassins creed starts with Altair as an assassin already in his prime but he goes against the creed so they strip away your weapons and you have to earn them back but the tutorial mission def starts you off with the hidden blade.

Overwatch doesn’t deserve even a spot in the top 10. GOTY should be about innovation and elevating the medium of video games as an art using storytelling and interactivity. As fun as the game was, putting it as GOTY solely because of its popularity is a mistake IMO.

Everyone loves to hate on overwatch right now, but when it came out it was literally everywhere. People who didn't play multiplayer games were playing it, the roster cemented itself as iconic and a permanent mainstay in gaming culture for over a decade, and it greatly impacted almost all online multiplayer squad based games that came after it. Also, it just was a great game.

I can’t help but feel that the Astrobot win was game journalists pushing for the industry to be more sustainable or something. It’s sensible, but it’s just not the game of the year. It stands in the shadow of FF7 Rebirth that built an enormously beautiful world, amazing characters, and immaculate combat. Astrobot doesn’t even stand next to a Mario game with its ok platforming and uninspired main character design.
