My favorite Hashira has to be Gyomei because of how much he values human life and how he brings out the beast within when needed. Giyu is a close second! Without Giyu, we might not even have a story to tell! (He spared Nezuko and allowed Tanjiro to become a Demon Slayer!)

The most tragic backstory, to me, is kind of a tie between Gyomei and Sanemi. Gyomei had to go against his calm demeanor and slay (hold back) a demon with his bare hands only to be blamed for the deaths of the people he was trying to save. Then there is Sanemi, who had to kill his demon mother, after she killed his siblings, only to be called a murderer by the lone surviving sibling.

The fact Giyuu didn't kill Nezuko and basically saved Tanjiro multiple times, and ended up saving so many others by the end of the manga was crazy. Just love how the mangaka had it weaved in there that he was always important if not the one who helped secure safety for others in the future.

Tragedy is the most suitable word for the life of every hashira..i believe that the mangaka does a phenomenal job by creating and adding those amazingly and beautifully written characters into the story.. It is so unique in my opinion that they are not just Characters with insanely huge strength..they are definitely way deeper than that.. Honestly without them demon slayer wouldn't be as amazing as it is right now..

I agree the Hashira are strong and awesome however they are still humans unlike the majority of shonen anime. We’re they try so hard to make mortal humans like high tier beings. It also makes sense from a realistic sense the unfortunate things that happened due to it being their job and the power and experience the upper moon demons as well as Muzan have.

I don't think Giyu protected Nezuko because of his inferiority or because he has an open mind. I think it's more to do with the fact that nezuko protected tanjiro, just like his sister protected him. He relates them back to his own past and wants to believe in nezuko's sacrifice. If I went through what Giyu did, I'd want to kill all demons. So this is the only believable explanation to me.

Omg, true! I never thought of that, but now that you make me notice this... But i also notice a detail after watching the first episode many times: 1. After Giyuu arrived, Tanjiro was holding his sister, but she didn't tried to attack him, even when she was capable of doing that, since there wasn't anything to stop her. 2. If Giyuu really wanted to kill Nezuko since it was his job, then why (after yelling at Tanjiro in anger) did he STAB Nezuko insted of decapitating her? I also apologize for my english, i don't speak english very well✋

I don’t think Kanae is present when Shinobu received the uniform, but yeah she did give matches to Aoi, Mitsuri and Kanao when they received theirs, although either Shinobu or Kanao herself burned the uniform but only the top part as for Mitsuri she is too kindhearted to even burn it

But the story is just brilliant, I remember getting to vol 16 & seeing “Final Battle” and thought there’s no way, the final battle is starting now?!? With 8 volumes left?!? *My favorite Hashira is Shinobu Kocho! She is a kind and Loyal soul, Even before her Sister died, she and her sister were a kind duo. Adopting a young Kanao from a cruel world and looked after her, And when Kanae died. Shinobu Continued to work hard and to become stronger. As she wanted to take revenge on the demons who took away almost everyone she loved. But! Even though she despises demons with her whole heart. She still took in Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu and Inosuke despite them Protecting a young demon. And took care of them, Always there to heal them, always looking out for them when they need it. And the most Girlboss thing of all from her. Was that she was preparing to Kill Douma by sacrificing herself by injecting her body with Wisteria Poison for YEARS!! As she knew she couldn't take down Douma, as he was too strong to take down on her own.* *It just shows how Loyal, Kind, Strong and Determined kind of person that Shinobu is!* *And also, she knew it herself that she wasn't 'Physically' strong enough to slice off a demons head. So, with the knowledge of Medicines and poisons. She soaked her Sword in Wisteria Poisons which is incredibly deadly to demons. Which also makes her stand out to the other Hashira, It just shows her Strong, Smart, Loyal, Kind and Compassionate!* *I'm proud that my Fav died as the Hero who Killed the UpperMoon!*

I think Sanemi is my favorite. I have no least favorite but Sanemi is my absolute favorite. Then Gyomei and Muichiro. But I do think Giyu is the most important hashira because Without Giyu sparing Nezuko there’s no demon slayer. And without Shinobu the overpowered Doma AND Muzan (yes there was no way of taking down doma tbh) wouldn’t have been defeated. Without Muiciro and Genya Kokushibo (my favorite upper moon) wouldn’t have been defeated. And without Mitsuri, hantegu would’ve escaped. And Tengen is just fine. And I wished rengoku got enough screen time.

This story reminds me of gyomei. There was a horse a draft horse named Galloway Warrior at a stable I volunteered at as a child. He was huge and made other draft horse look like miniature ponies. He was so gentle tho. A baby bird found his way into his stall and he just kind of looked after him. Eventually tragedy approached and when the baby bird was no longer in his stall he went through a huge depression. I'm always a sucker for a big gentle giant lol

One of my personal head cannons with Rengoku is that he suffers through similar inferiority complex as Giyuu along with serious depression, possibly even suicidal. He just learned to hide it behind a smile. Think about it a dead mom, an alcoholic dad that is physically and mentally abusive, I know he changed of course, having to take the hashira title from his dad so the family name doesn't get ruined as well as taking the brunt of his dad's abuse. Who wouldn't get depressed? However, he hides it behind a smile for everyone else's sake. Some people are good at hiding depression behind a smile and know how to uplift others., Robin Williams being a good example. Everything gets put on his shoulder once mom dies and he does seem to miss her., it wouldn't be surprising that through all that pressure he would feel suicidal. It would even be why he smiles before he dies as well. He no longer has that pressure on him. I also believe that this is the reason his dad changed after his death. He realized that it was his fault in a way. If he had not drank so much and retired as the flame hashira he would have died instead of his son.

My favourite is muichiro, then giyuu- sanemi. I really think goyemi is underrated.ln anime uzui is amazing. His batman eyes🤣🤣🤣. I also feel its underrated that giyuu refer two random orphan kids to his own master that's very kind hearted decision. That was really sweet...and obanai has the saddest backstory and he is cute too.

imagine if yuichiro and muichiro accepted the offer the first time and became demon slayers together, they would literally be so fucking op, and if they both had a lil more time to train and gain experience maybe just a year, i belive they could have double teamed and killed upper rank 1 by themselves, if yuichiro had a special breathing style it would probably be something like storm style, since hes much more talkative and expletive lol

My favorite Hashira is Kyojuro, he radiates warmth (both figuratively and literally). He values human life to such an extent that he would sacrifice his body for others and fight through excruciating pain to make others feel safe. He would never give up, no matter the circumstances, no matter the consequences, and *begins to salute* he was a TRUE CHAD....*beings to cry*
