Of course, the symbol-obsessed First Order would like to blaspheme one of the most sacred Jedi planets for their own nefarious purposes instead. And the fact that they're both ice planets and located on the fringe of the unknown regions must mean they're one and the same.

In the words of Count Dooku: *"I have been looking forward to this!"* Thank you for doing this and Jungle planets. And I still hope *Rian's trilogy* will include completely new worlds with new biomes and locations that we have never seen before. Edit: It's nice to have jungle, snow and deserts every now and then but Star Wars needs to feel more alien in a lot of areas and less Earth like. Hopefully Rian and his concept artists will look at other space franchises and series like Futurama and Star Trek for ideas.

Stuart Lugsden Luckily Rian said that he’s trying to make his trilogy “Have the Star Wars feel without the visual aspects” (or something like that). Basically, he’s making it without sticking to stuff that visually looks like Star Wars (like Star destroyers and stuff). I think we’re in luck.

I go past Hoth at least twice a year, going by train from where I live to my parents place. Hoth is also known as Finse and it is a railway station with no road access in the winter, but regular stops by the train year round. Oh, it is on the Bergensbanen, Google that and see beautiful pictures of the mountain region of Southern Norway.

Desert and ice planets make some degree of sense though. Desert planets are fairly close to their star, ice planets are fairly far from their star. More temperate planets would be in the middle of their star’s Goldilocks zone.

Quick sanity check: During the Starkiller Base section, you cited that it and Ilum had similar diameters around 660km. This is rather tiny for a planet - for example, Earth's diameter is just under 13,000km, and even Pluto has a diameter of roughly 2,400km. That 660km distance is about the same as a trip from Vancouver to San Francisco, or Berlin to Rome, or New York to Chicago. Just double-checking that you didn't leave out a zero by mistake. Otherwise, awesome video! We always enjoy the greater perspective of the Star Wars galaxy, in Canon and/or Legends.

You do know that Neptune, Uranus, Mars and Mercury are all one environment and they are real its all to do with where a planet is located in their sola system. Earth and other multi environmental planets are located in their Goldilocks zone that are capable of hosting life.

There are more like Earth, able to support more life forms. These are mostly inhabitable, but some aren't. Dagobah probably isn't all swamp, but might not be feasible to wander into the more dangerous parts.

I've long wondered how a planet like Hoth supports such large fauna. I mean a tauntaun is a fast moving biped probably roughly the weight of a horse, and a horse on winter feed will consume around 25 pounds of hay every day. Wookiepedia lists their diet as "lichen and small ice plants." That's a lot of lichen.

@@nathan.w9906 Sure, but that's a survival strategy to get them through the deepest part of winter until spring rolls around again and they can build body fat back up. Lichen is abundant under the tundra but with very low nutritional value, so it's a way to get through the worst times until the world around them is once again filled with edible plants. An ice planet is going to stay locked in that hard winter. Earth was mostly an ice ball for about 120 million years and life survived most likely by huddling around geothermal sources, but that was 100 million years and more before vascular plants and terrestrial fauna. There was really nothing more complicated than a sponge.
