Deathwing companions are "S-Tier" because of their meta-defining companion rule, precision shots just don't work against the squad. The shields causing a -1 initiative is crazy as well

No way Firedrakes are that low. They're top 3 melee terminators. Thunder Hammers, 3++, and re-roll 1s to wound? What terminators can match that besides Huscarls, Varagyr, and maybe Cenobium Knights?

Firedrakes will eat the incandeaus for breakfast. It can probably fight 2 at the same time and win with minimal casualties, and their advanced reaction allows then to go to ws6, alongside their rerolling 1s, why are they so low?

Deathsworn are a C at best they are incredibly expensive for a unit and they have to have a speaker of the dead in the unit otherwise they won't even make it to combat
@BearfootMiniatures2 ай бұрын
I think a few units suffer from the lack of character making them die easy (reavers/dawnbreakers/reavers), I may have been tainted by not having enough dedicated melee to counter them but theyve always done well when ive seen them!
@willhighfield67732 ай бұрын
As a space wolf player, I agree with this so much. They're way too expensive for a slow unit with no invun. Being heavy is nice but relies on your opponent being kind enough to let you charge them to get the WS5, which means against any decent player you're going to be hitting other legion's elite units of 5s, the alternative is to make them even more expensive by buying them a land raider so they can charge out. It's sad because the models are so cool, but I don't think I've ever taken them because there's so much else I could get for the points that does the same job or better, even basic cataphractii with power axes are similar but at least get the 4++.
@ChrisH-ey3vf2 ай бұрын
@BearfootMiniatures when you see them are they in a squad of 5 or 10 and do they run one squad or 2. Plus idk what your area is like but my area is dominated my alpha legion and nightlords so alot of shooting
@rakshithanand82622 ай бұрын
@@willhighfield6773To be sure they are over costed, but they can put in good work if you get lucky or have a good plan. Give the Sargent a Great Frost Blade, equip the squad with Rad Grenades and you too can experience S6 AP2 Instant Death at initiative. This makes them very good for jumping veterans and small terminator squads that rely on power fists or thunder hammers since you can severely cut their damage output before fighting. Very expensive, but an excellent way to delete annoying 2+ saves!
@DeusExMachina100012 ай бұрын
@@rakshithanand8262 Problem is that a standard Cataphractii squad is the same number of points and does the job better, and a Tartaros squad is cheaper and does the job at least as well. The Deathsworn Power Axes are only S5 so they don't ID, they're still unwieldy, and their Power Fists are as expensive as Thunder Hammers on terminators. The Frost Blade on the Sarge is quite good, but it's only going to ID on turn 1 of combat, whereas terminators with Thunder Hammers ID on all rounds. Plus, RAW, you can actually stick a Moritat with Rad Grenades onto a Vet squad to get the same sort of Deathsworn work done. RAW you can't attach an IC without Bitter Duty to a squad that has it, but it's confirmed that you can attach an IC with it to a squad that doesn't have it. On the upside tho the models are probably the best SW models and running them as a normal Command Squad is totally feasible.

When you talked about including imperial fist Termy with storm shield, I was thinking you should include salamander nullificators with dragon shield. Having the same 2+/3++ and having a S6 Ap3 Deflag mace is really fun. Especially if you can combo in a rad grenade somehow (or going Blackshield for Pineapple Sally and abhorrent for S8 on charge)
@AndrewPeverells2 ай бұрын
I'm super hyped for this, I'm gonna listen to it soon when I have some spare time. Meanwhile, I'll re-post here the comment I wrote for the SN video with my 2 cents. I didn't include every unit because the comment is already super long as it is and I don't have the necessary experience for some legions (DA especially). Golden Keshig - B. Not super amazing, they have a standard veteran profile with no peculiar stuff, but hit and run with kontos power lance is brutal. The only issue is that if they make a disordered charge the lance doesn't work, and this hurts them immensely. Very pricey, especially if you want to give them weapons other than the lance. Ebon Keshig - D. Poor guys are completely invalidated by the Sagyar Mazan. Other than that, not good themselves, ws4 is bad. Stubborn 10 and fnp 5+ are great, but you're paying a lot for ws4 elite terminators. Never ever seen them anywhere. Kyzagan speeder - A. Amazing chaff clearer, and can hunt light vehicles. Dirt cheap. Not top tier because, although it has T7, it's still a 4 wounds model with 3+. Deathsworn - can't rate them, I've never faced them and it seems people have very contrasting opinions tending towards them being very bad. Varagyr - S+ Top tier broken shit what the hell get them out of here. Ws6 on the charge, fear 1, counter-attack, hammer of wrath, can accept challenges and get +1 to combat res when they win, thunder hammer or 2 frost weapons are nasty, great frost blade is amazing, land raider access, undercosted. Anything else? Grey slayers/stalkers (no great difference, basically same story) - A. The option of having a full 20 man squad with power weapons is crazy. Great options, counter-attack, relentless, skirmish for better covers, line and heart of the legion. So much better than regular tacticals or despoilers in every way. Templar brethren - A/S. We all know what they can do, they're great, choppy, resilient and undercosted, and they get to top tier broken if taken with their rite of war. Phalanx warders - A/S. Same as templars, they get to S when in stone gauntlet. Evem without it, they're ws5 when charged, invuln 3+ (!!!), with power axes that can chop through other elites while being fast attack (which clears a lot of space in elites). Dawnbreakers - A. Even better when coming in deep strike, great weapons, cheeky pinning shooting, furious charge, ws5, 2+ save, ld9. Still, they're not stubborn, they don't have an invuln save and their spears need to fish for 5+ to kill other elites. Crimson paladins - B/A. When outnumbered they get a stacking fnp and they can be scoring in their rite of war, stubborn 10, -1 to wound them is great, in-built deep strike. Overall they're great, but they lack an edge when it comes to killing other elites, their loadout is still power weapons or ap3 breaching 5+ weapons, and they get very pricey with fists. Angel's tears - D. Never ever seen them, probably for a good reason. They're slightly better destroyers, but considering I think destroyers are one of the worst units in heresy 2.0 these guys are not that far above. I might be wrong on them. Gorgon terminators - C. I can't find a good place for them in an army. Ws4 terminator elites is already not great, gorgon armour is forgettable, they have good options but they're super pricey. The only good thing is that they're quite resilient. Morlocks - B. Good overall, they don't particularly stand out to other legion terminator elites, other than that they're very tough and get access to a banner. Not a tier above because they're super pricey and you can only take 5. They can do some killing. Medusan immortals - A. Honestly amazing in company of bitter iron, you have an immovable brick of line motherfuckers that just won't die. They don't pack a punch, but that's not their role, although you can buff them up with gravitats. High price makes them just shy of top tier. Suzerains - S+ Top tier broken shit what the hell get them out of here. The dread of every HH 2.0 field, I think they're the best unit in the game. Period. I won't go in details as for the reason, we all know why. Praetorian breachers - A. Blue phalanx warders, way less resilient but way choppier with ws5, some legatine axes and furious charge. They also get line and chosen warriors. Not top tier because they can get pricey and they have ld8. Pyroclast - B. Ws and bs 4 hurts them and they're pricey, but if you can get them safely up close tjey can blow up any vehicle. Nice flamers too, they can clear up chaff if needed. Firedrakes - S. One of the top terminator units. Undercosted even with thunder hammers, they reroll every 1 in melee so they're very killy in melee, IWND 5+ is great on terminators, and a 3+ invuln is just amazing. Good luck murdering these guys. Mor Deythan - A. Amazing weapon options and customisations that can do crazy stuff with their fatal strike rule. Rending 4+ volkites? Ouch. Bs5 relentless sniper rifles, scout, skirmish for better covers. Not S because they ger very pricey very easily when kitted out and they have 3+ power armour. Dark Fury - A. Yes, they're not super amazing in themselves, but what cuts for them is the multiple choosers of the slain. Plus, double raven talons is absolutely nasty, precision strikes 6+ is nice, sudden strike is super, in-built deep strike is golden. These guys can chop up anything when they come in from the skies. But careful if they don't finish the work, they can die pretty easily. Deliverers - S. One of the best terminator units in the game, super killy and battle hardened. If played as loyalist (which is what you should do anyway).

@pascal9055Ай бұрын
Fire Drakes are top terminator. They kill every other terminator mathematically. Including Huscarls, Inner Circle Knights, Murlocs, and Varagyr. And they aren't much more expensive than those units either. Huscarls are same price, for example. 325 each. Varygyr with all Thunder Hammers are also 325. In the perfect scenario of the Varagyr getting the charge, they will win. Everything else loses even if they charge the Fire Drakes. And lose horribly if they get charged.

Deathwing are massively better than Inner Circle. For about 60pts more you get a squad of 10 with 3 shields and 7 Terranic Greatswords. They reduce enemy initiative, they guard characters, they can sweeping advance, they have more options for mobility...
@DeusExMachina100012 ай бұрын
Inner Circle are far better if you're fighting other terminators. 4++, Thunder Hammers, the Hekatonystika traits, and the WS6 sarge. The only advantage the Companions have is cost. Companions are just a better Command Squad, and nobody takes a non-terminator Command Squad unless you need them to have jump packs for some reason. Cataphractii, despite not being able to sweeping advance, is king this edition. Plus most of the stuff you'd fight as a death star unit is going to be Ld 10 and probably Stubborn to boot. Whether the Cataphractii Companions are better is debatable, but the normal ones are definitely not.
