I just got into LEGO as an adult (as a kid I loved LEGO but could never afford them for myself) and a big part of it was how charming the Monkie Kid series was. I watched this while finishing my first large set I ever purchased for myself, the Moon Cake Factory! The colours and design were absolutely so charming that I wanted it as soon as I laid eyes on it. Perhaps it is a little expensive, but I love the space setting, the character design of the moon goddess, and the robot bunnies. I really hope this series is here to stay because it has so much charm!

Me too! It's already confirmed for next year at least. They're also opening a ride or area of some kind in China in 2024, and I don't see them doing that for a theme that's already over or ending within a year. So I'm optimistic in saying I see the theme making through 2025 at minimum

Lmao the Bunny Mech set is brilliant and I absolutely love it, I wouldn't have ever imagined that a mech shaped in the fluffy and round shape of a Bunny would look so cool and cute at the same time, the Moon Cake Factory set is pretty damn expensive, but it is definitely some of the most charming things I have seen in a while from LEGO

The robots are also a reference to the robot in the Mystic Mountain Time Lab (6494) from Lego Time Cruisers theme that came out in 1996!

Spoilers for Season 3 ... Lady Bone Demon is still the main, undefeated antagonist, forcing Evil Macaque and his Shadow Clones to serve her. After The Monkey King misled the heroes at Mei's expense, screwing up their opportunity to use the fire rings against LBD, MK basically chooses Nezha (pronounced Nad-Ja in the Chinese version) as his new Mentor. Sun Wukong, disgraced, goes to take on LBD alone. I assume this set is based around what will happen in the next instalment of the cartoon with MK and Nezha having to rescue Sun Wukong from LBD, with Mei returning, having mastered the True Fire of Samadhi with Red Son's assistance (assuming he isn't just trying to steal the power from her)

These new Monkey Kid Sets are definitely an eye catcher, I especially like that golden cycle, the moon base, the rocket and the new Ninjago City (So almost every set lol). Figures are amazing and part value is great. 👍

I ran to the South center LEGO store to grab the last in stock set of MK city, thanks for the raving review on the set. I am going to check out your more detailed review on the set, as well as previous year videos. This will actually be my first MK set. You are correct about it not being prominently marketed in this region, will suggest to the Bellevue store employees. Ps. Do you have a review playlist on all of the Chinese new year sets since 2019?

Good review! That restaurant is not a noodle shop tho; it's a hotpot restaurant! They're super common in Sichuan/Chongching. I'm just getting into MK with watching the show and getting some of the sets on sale right now! It's a great theme!

The reason why the monkie kid sets are more expensive despite being a (somewhat) original ip is because the sets were designed for the Chinese market, which their middle class is bigger than the entirety of the USA, so, they generally have more money to spend
