As bad as the Jay Cutler deal was, the Bears might have a worse free agency signing with Mike Glennon. Three years, $45 million, four total games played before being released a year into the deal. The crazier part: no other team was even considering signing Glennon and the Bears bid against themselves.

As a 49er faithful, I think it’s funny that our worst QB contract was with a QB that took us to an NFC championship game and helped propel us to a Super Bowl appearance, made 3 Pro Bowls in his career, was a comeback player of the year, was never an issue in the locker room, and was never responsible for any dead cap money. His level of play was severely hampered by the coaching staff his first 6 years, but once he had competent coaching, he was a quality starting QB. I’m sure there are plenty of teams that would trade their current QB for an Alex Smith level QB.

Deshaun Watson is definitely not the worst Browns QB contract. Jeff Garcia got paid millions of guaranteed money to play for other teams because he only lasted one year out of his four year deal before he got cut and only amounted to 3 wins while there. So he was still being paid by Cleveland when he had his run getting the Eagles to the Super Bowl. Watsons guarantee might be controversial but he has won consistently in Cleveland so far when he has played to where he’s not getting cut and will actually be in a Browns uniform when he gets his money which automatically means they’ve lost less money on Watson than they did with Jeff Garcia.

Joe Flacco is out playing Deshaun because Flacco got to play in consecutive games in a row this season and Deshaun hasn’t due to injuries. If Watson can just find away to stay healthy next season and play in consecutive games in a row then he might still not be worth the money they paid him but he could have a Russell Wilson type season next year and that type of QB play is honestly all the Browns need to get to the superbowl.
