Every Thundercats Villain from the Original Cartoon (1985-1989) with video

Hey guys! Haven't seen anyone make these villain videos yet and I wanted to start compiling lists of villains from popular 80s cartoon franchises! There are SOOO many awesome and unique villains so why not have them all in one place? And instead of just some boring photos I added a video clip for each villain as well! Sorry for the wonky audio in some of these, really hard to get some of the clips!

I still love Thundercats for a bunch of reasons... but my gosh 90% of those villains were just trash... I’m positive that I watched the cartoon in the 80’s, but can’t recall most of these. I can only hope that they were one-off episodes or very limited in most cases?

I don't know what a so-called god has to do with T.C. How-ever, I do miss the ORIGINAL THUNDERCATS and wish they were Represented Properly in this and Future Era's as I also do with MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE / SHE-RA!!!! 😾😿🙀😼

Take a look at the Ninja Turtles villains. I thought they had cheaper looking characters. Very little effort in the design of too many of them.

Yeah, some are amazing, but others...either it was different people designing them or after a liquid lunch on Friday arvo everyone got pissed and scrawled out anything. Some remind me of the crappy ghosts from real Ghostbusters.

Gotta love Grune, such powerful and almost barbaric Thundercat turned to a villain. And what about Jaga? He caused Thundera's destruction with his imprudence!

While Mum-Ra was the Thundercat's most consistent foe (along w/ the bumbling mutants), I'd have to say the Lunataks were the toughest & most successful at dealing the Thundercats major losses. As a kid seeing Tug-Mug break the Sword of Omens cemented the Lunataks as a major threat, because I've never seen the sword broken before.

The Lunatacs were my favorite team of villains on the show. My second favorite team was the Berserkers.

@@Hinatachan360 Yea, mine too. The Lunataks were so cool & powerful to me, as a kid. The Berserkers were my 2nd fav because they were pirates/Vikings, which I was very interested in as a kid. Ninjas are my all time favs, but the closest I can remember the show coming to was Samurai (Hachiman).

I WAS BORN ON THE YEAR 1989 Before the final Vol. 3 episodes of ThunderCats had stopped airing while the original TMNT cartoons we're still around for awhile till it's final seasons And I'm 30yo and I still remember these shows is like if it was yesterday And I never missed a single episode!! 😃💕💕

Driller was one of my favorites. He/it was just so aggravating I wished he would make several appearances. Later, and I guess it is my head canon because I really do not recall the episode fully, Driller was one of many mining robots used by humans on Third Earth when it was just called Earth. They rebelled because they simply loved drilling so much, causing destruction all over the planet. So the Humans stopped supplying them with the refined gems they needed for their drills. Eventually most drillers were buried trying to find more gems others destroyed drilling into magma pits and so crushed between tectonic plates. Without gems or the information to find them, which they needed humans for, the drillers became all but extinct. So far only one was find, in Third Earth and that one by itself was a menace.

Driller was one of the few villains that appeared in both Thundercat series, 1985 and 2011.

Henrik Fisker and there would been atleast more such as Safari joe and the lunataks appearing in the 2011 series but of coarse, it was cancelled before it got the chance.

DocWolph that a pretty interesting story. Too bad, the 80s series doesn’t explore much depth due to it being from 80s, where every concept cool concept will never be explore and would be more focus on toys sale.

Mumm-Ra, Slithe, Grune and Vultureman were the only villains that participated in both Thundercats series, 1985 and 2011. Monkian and Jackalman were renamed as Atticus and Kaynar, respectively.

Mongor was the scariest as a kid. (Reminded me of baphomet) The demolisher should’ve been on more episodes. Mum ras voice actor was impeccable. I just wish there was a back story episode of him. Grune was my favorite he was a savage

Mumm-Ra's back story wasn't in the TV series, but there was a comic book detailing his back story. I think it was published by Marvel.

Although, Thundercats 2011's cancelation still leaves a deep void in my heart............I dont know how they would have handled some of these.............villians. Mum-Ra was already established and the show had a fantastic start.........but I dunno about seeing such a smart reboot...........and then getting some villian probably named Skunk-o in the following episode and the show attempt to try to carry on like the serious moment is gonna stay serious. : /

Tentegen interesting fact, Safari joe and the lunataks were meant to appear in the second season before it was cancelled. Heck, one of the characters from the berbils episode in Thundercats 2011, confirm to be Safari joe.

As awesome as Mumm-Ra and the Mutants were, I always liked the guest villains. Safari Joe was an awesome character. Basically an outerspace version of your 19th Century British big game hunter. Also his companion was an anthropomorhic steam train. No idea who came up with that idea, but it worked. Captain Cracker as well. A very cheesy villain. Basically just a classic pirate given a bit of a space age makeover, but also genuinely quite scary.

I liked the Demolisher episode. Even as a kid, I found him to be a tragic character who was driven to fight because it defined him. I wish he could have made more appearances so that we could learn more about him.

Jackel man. Reasons....1 looks somewhat like a werewolf. 2 was one of my favorite action figures as a child. 3 if by chance i found myself in the thundercats universe in a pitch battle against the main goons i like to believe i could deal with him because of his cowardly nature. As long as the thundercats beat down his comrades beforehand of course.

I've always liked the mutants as they were relatively complexe characters: Slythe was neither the bravest nor the smartest, yet he wasn't a coward or a fool either. Jackelman had high hopes but couldn't live up to them. Monkian was a good guy in bad company. And Vultureman was intelligent but cocky. My favorite guest villain is Mongor. As a kid, I was scared to nigh-death by him (and by the entire show, basically) but he is a very interesting entity. Since I found the (very bad) German dub scary enough, I am glad I didn't hear Mumm-ra's original voice as a kid. As an adult, I enjoy to watch the original English version.

Sounds like Earl Hammond (voice actor of Mumm-Ra) voiced 90% of these characters.
