I will definitely be reseting this winter after having surgery. Jennifer, you said you would pray for me and I wanted to thank you so much for your prayers. I don't have cancer, but the spot had the potential to become cancer, so Friday morning I had the upper lobe of my right lung removed. Again thank you for your prayers. Several weeks of recovery ahead, but the great Physician and Healer holds me in His hands.

That’s one big, important thing that’s missing from so many lives these days: time for reflection. People make themselves so busy, racing from one thing to another without pausing in between to reflect upon what just happened, finding what lessons are there to be learned or cherishing the specialness of what just occurred. Even my little grandchildren’s lives are so full that they can’t even remember a wonderful event from last week that would have been a once-a-year, very memorable, special event for me when I was a child. We need those pauses.

Amen Jennifer. I listened to this beautiful video twice to let it sink in. SO many cares of this year. Last December I was a puddle of tears and confusion in covid and being forced out of my long career. I was devastated. I picked myself up and one day at a time realized it was okay to let it go for my own sanity. We had a beautiful summer here in Canada. More up and downs. But time marched on. I found a new unexpected job 6 months later, out of no doing of my own ...so thankful. Now, almost a year later I find myself pregnant for the first time, something I couldn't anticipate a year ago ! So as you say, yes preparing ourselves for something new. I want to open my arms to the new and joyous things God has for me. To transform and be more beautiful and open to these new things. Blessings to you and I enjoy all of your content and videos! Merry Christmas and God bless 🎄 xo

Jennifer, if you're ever looking for video ideas, I would LOVE to hear your love story from both yours & Ben's point of view -- the courtship, why you decided to settle in the U.S. vs England, any American vs English clashes in culture. I really enjoyed it because your message reached across cultures, at least in the Northern Hemisphere. As a Jewish person, I celebrate Hanukkah, which is our ‘Solstice Reset’ and I am also taking more of a social media/video making break. Finding that quietude, living within the rhythms of days and night, of light and dark, is ancestral, wise and restorative. I wish you much meaningful reflection and journeying inward and look forward to your last Christmas offering (I do enjoy Christmas content even though I don’t celebrate it myself :-)) Merry Christmas and a very happy Secular New Year to you and yours!

Jennifer, while you and I are in different stages of life, I would like you to know how much you have contributed to my life during this past year❤ I have managed to reach a place in my recovery that I am hungry to push myself harder, think deeper and contribute as much as I can during this unsettling, though exciting time! Your video today supports my current premise to honor myself…. invest my energy wisely and treasure the winter solstice. As we all reflect on our past year, especially you, Dear Jennifer, it’s a balance of “it was the best of times. It was the worst of times…” Learn from but forgive what we perceive as our shortcomings… as we rest, shall we all get excited for a new year? 🎊 🎉 I’m going to try! Wishing you, Jennifer, as well as your family a lovely Christmas 🎄 season! Wishing you, my (our) community Happy Holidays and expressing my gratitude for allowing me to find a “home” in which I have been able to safely grow towards my best self! 🎶🎨📚🙏🏻

I too find the Winter Solstice my favorite evening of the year. The longest night is a comfort to me as I contemplate where I am headed in the year to come. I write a list of Intentions and write my word for the coming year on my chalkboard. I prepare my desk for the writing of notes and journal posts. One Intention I have for the coming year is to send hand written notes to Family and Friends on a weekly basis. I always love to open a note or card sent to me and thought I would love to brighten another person's day too.

Wow!!! What a powerful video! Winter is one of my favorite times of the year because of the slower pace. My birthday is just before Christmas and my anniversary is just before New Years, so I do a lot of reflecting and planning this time of the year, but I had never thought of the shift the earth does as well that leads us all into that same act! Amazing! My husband and I started a tradition of taking our anniversary away. We go away just the two of us for a very romantic brunch- the only very expensive meal we have all year- and we map out our year, we dream together, and really pinpoint our vision for the year ahead. We spend the entire day just as a couple, talking over what’s important to us. It’s one of my favorite days of the whole year. This year will be our 15th Anniversary, but after listening to this video, our tradition holds more meaning in my heart.❤️

Wow...perfect timing. I am not going to lie...the older I get, the more hate winter...the darkness, the fact that your day is basically over at five when it gets dark, the mornings are so cold...and I live in coastal CA so I can only imagine how it would be if I lived where it actually snowed! i could go on but this vlog makes me realize that maybe it's time to re-set my thinking. It can't be spring and summer all the time so I should take advantage of the winter time. Thank you Jennifer...Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Cooking for pleasure... oh how I wish I could get back to that space. After many long years of caregiving, I've tried to keep my passions, but often the stress of it all took away the joy. Thankfully, there were so many other joys of being with my parents that made it all worthwhile. I think after Christmas I'll take some time to not worry about healthy recipes, or foods that can be safely swallowed, or meals that had to be on the table on the dot due to Alzheimer's and a schedule that could make or break a day... and just have fun in the kitchen. Maybe I'll even make some of the quiches and popovers and muffins that I loved making for guests when I ran B&B's many years ago that brought so much joy. Thank you for the inspiration and for showing me some of the things that I need to bring back to my life to carry on in the best way in the new year as my husband and I now carry on with just us in this new chapter and reset.

What a lovely video! It felt like a wonderful gift. Thank you. I’m wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Many of us use this time of year to reflect on our values and our goals for next year. I highly recommend, if you don’t already have one, creating a bucket list and reviewing annually. Decades ago, before I ever hear the term “bucket list,” I created a list of 50 things I wanted to do before I died. I’m crossing off two of my bucket list items this winter when I go ice fishing and snowshoeing. (I have never lived where snow is common so these things are exotic to me.) Furthermore, it is amazing to me how many of the things on my list have happened even without special effort on my own part. For example, I had whale watching on my list. Later, I was on a boat off the Pacific coast when three whales approached us. It wasn’t a whale-watching trip, but the whales were curious, approached and followed us for a time. I have had several other experiences that were on my list that have occurred without my planning.

Thank you, Jennifer for all your wonderful videos. I am a big fan of yours :) Regarding the winter solstice or the longest night of year in northern hemisphere, it's a magical night for Persians (Iranians), it's called Yalda which they celebrate the birthday of Mithra (the God of Sun). Persians believe that on this night the light and good forces will overcome darkness. They celebrate this night by eating special food mainly pomegranates and watermelon and they recite poems and anecdotes. Happy holidays!
