How about get a bottle refund going. People will have an incentive to pick up bottles and also stop people from chucking them out. Other countrys been doing it for decades

@EsspressoMan1: Your comment got me reading more about recycling. In Minnesota, where I live, we have curbside recycling. The problem I just found out, is the main material that recyclable bottles are made from is (PET). The problem is: it can be contaminated by certain other recyclable material in that same container. That makes (PET) unusable. I also learned we sell a lot of our good (PET) to China and then we need to make more products from new materials. The more you read, the more complicated everything gets.

We need to get back to glass containers & create jobs around that instead of big petroleum using the excuse that it's cheaper to manufacture new plastics than to recycle old.

Nice! Very useful techniques. Especially liked the floating river cleaning system, with its series of floating devices, that moved in sink, so the waste was directed towards the collector. But still ships can move through and fish are safe.

The answer to the trash problem is not at the end but the beginning. The production packaging of products sold in the stores or to distributors. Will cost a lot to change from the current strategies sold and used now. Corporate will fight it because profits will be lost and/or make it not affordable to exist as company.

Plastic bottles and large plastic bags and packaging should have a scan-able code linked to the purchaser of said item with set fines if that trash is found as litter or even an added deposit price that can only be refunded when the rubbish is scanned at proper disposal bins. Any fines or deposits to fund ongoing cleaning organizations

Man will always generate trash, but we can certainly go a long way to minimize harmful trash like plastics that take a billion years to decay. Find alternatives to plastic packaging where you can when you shop. E.G., Stop buying bottled water and invest in a good thermos and water filters. Cardboard milk containers versus plastic.

Homo sapiens doesn't consume milk and other dairy products of any other mammal species. Dairy is crime and madness. That's the very important point you should start from - stop being stupid milk sucker! And many things will change.

Despite their different compositions, wood and plastic have some chemical similarities. Both materials are organic, meaning that they are made from carbon-based compounds. Both materials are also flammable, meaning that they can be ignited and burned. Additionally, both materials can be degraded by exposure to heat, light, and oxygen.

We have had bottle-refund machines in every shop entrance where you get the fund money/ bottle back. It works well, but it would be even better to go back to glas bottles which also had refuning but with zero waste: both the bottles and the crate were reused.

It would be even better if the stuff collected was sorted for reposing. I saw a lot of plant matter that could be used as livestock feed. I have been watching a lot of videos on how to upcycle waste. I just don't see these as long term solutions, to the amount of waste we produce, if we are just throwing everything into landfills.

Look it up sometime, all they do is "ship it" to poverty stricken countries like Malaysia to sift through and attempt to recycle... but most of it is waste and ends up back in the ocean. Some companies don't even make the trips, they just go out to the water and dump their load, because More paychecks are waiting for them if they make it back to port fast enough to pick up the next load.

It would be better to invent a method of spotting, recording who takes out and throws tons of garbage into the seas and oceans. After all, garbage also falls to the bottom, to an unreachable depth, and there it creates a fertile environment that has a poisonous effect on all living things.
