Rhianna Warren look at the previous Salisbury’s Xmas ads such as 2016 far far better than their crappy 2017 Xmas ad, far fewer people disliked their 2016 ad compared with this. Also look at how well and thought out the 2017 Xmas John Lewis ad is. I really don’t know what Sainsbury’s is trying to achieve with this years cheap and tacky ad, when they’ve done so much better in the past....

I think this advert is ... ok, but it pales in comparison to the previous years. 2016: Although the C.G.I was a bit odd in some places and i'm not James Corden's biggest fan, It was still unique and fun and resonated with so many people; being unable to be with your family at Christmas. 2015: By far the best Sainsburys advert I.M.O The animation was impeccable, especially with the smooth physics and weather effects. It was composed like a short film and acted like one, without trying too hard. The story was good and had a good message. 2014: This advert was a homage to the start of WW1 and the famous Christmas that followed. The link to a family was very prevalent and the typography and cinematography were outstanding, along with the sound. It showed us the connection all of us have and have had, for over 100 years. And this one, oof. The colour isolation tech that Sainsbury's have been doing has never been appealing to me, and has surprised me that they're still doing it. The odd webcam-style angles just disturb me and do not give off the homely type of feeling that I assume Sainsbury's were going for. And I mean, the C.G.I food parts are also ok but do not compliment or fit with anything else at all. Christmas adverts in the U.K have now moulded into a way to express a story, and remind us of the important things this Christmas. And this attempts to do this, I think, but falls flat on its face. Sainsburys is still one of my favourite shops and always has been, the prices compared to quality is good and the staff is always super friendly, but this advert just isn't as good, just my opinion.

This is the best advert of 2017, especially Christmas hands down 10/10. Sainbury's, you win! I don't get why there are so many homophobes in this comment section - Sainbury's are are celebrating its customers and Britain's diverse population as Christmas, despite being a religious tradition originally, is clearly becoming more of a winter time tradition for everyone.
