When comparing the emotional story of Mafia 2 and 3, I really cant decide which is more tragic. An immigrants son, who committed petty crimes to feed his family while his father drank their money away, ends up getting sent fight in his home country. Only to return and end up back trying to support his family, only this time he gets involved with the big dogs. Eventually he screws up everything, (getting sent to prison, vouching for Henry, taking the coke deal etc.) And ends up getting his best friend killed and driving away his sister who was the only family he had left. Or A black man in a racist America, who is betrayed by the friend who was like a brother to him and helplessly watches his family get butchered by the man who promised to forgive them. He gets consumed by vengeance and goes on the warpath, working with (objectively) terrible people and doing terrible things. After he kills the last man who wronged him, he can either leave town and make everything he did be for nothing. Kill his colleagues, only to be murdered by a trusted religious figure who was like a father to him. Or become the thing he went out to kill, rule the city with his lieutenants, likely killing at least one of them earlier. These writers are some masterminds.
