You can understand where the hatred towards Jews comes from among the Palestinians, who are denied even the right to exist. However, the atrocities, abuse of the people and ethnic cleansing (such as the recent ones carried out by Hamas in Israel) are not justified by this. They are not justified on either side. Europe (except Russia) has already understood such things as a result of the horrors of World War II. From my position of comfort I would say "well I sure am glad I'm not governed by hamas, who: 1. diverts billions of dollars of humanitarian aid to build hundreds of kilometers of underground tunnels which provide no value except to the military, 2. in so doing, prevents the development of gazan infrastructure, the gazan power grid, and general gazan independence and flourishing, 3. digs up eu-funded water pipes and converts them into missiles (and makes videos boasting about it), 4. integrates military hardware into dense civilian areas as aggressively as possible to intentionally, and self-admittedly, pose the highest possible threat to their own civilians, 5. begins a war with their vastly more powerful neighbour, 6. prevents civilians from sheltering in its sophisticated and well-funded underground tunnel systems, 7. intentionally makes every additional effort to jeopardize their own civilian population in the war which inevitably follows - e.g. by impeding civilian efforts to relocate to safer parts of gaza." Then, from the safety of some pleasant tel aviv balcony I would look in the direction of gaza and dwell on how hamas has been an absolute curse, a dark persistent storm cloud, hovering over the citizens there.
