Another video that makes me want to get off my backside and go and take some photos locally... Also, the problem with an "ordinary" image is that it is only "ordinary" today. Wait 25 years and see how good it will be to have a record of "that old church that used to be next to a park that is now all offices and houses"......

Nice video Gary! I really enjoy the full photo process from in the field to the processing. Everyone does things so differently that you never know when something can fit into your own workflow. Thanks!

Absolutely, and I'm enjoying people's suggestions on how they would approach the same shot. We are all learning something 🙂

I’m enjoying this series too. It’s always good just to get out with your camera. Practice makes perfect.

Hi Gary, another interesting and engaging episode ... thanks for sharing. Thinking aloud, I wonder if a tighter portrait shot of the church tower at the left and the birch at the right might be an interesting alternative composition next time you're up there. I must say I'm enjoying this series, and learning loads ... thanks again.

Thanks Steve, and thank you for pondering the edit, it's great to hear people different interpretations of the composition 🙂

Definitely something we can all relate to, and another really nice video. It’s also a photo that you can easily repeat, to see how it looks in different light conditions, even at night perhaps with a full moon throwing some light on the church. Not that I’d condone wandering around church yards at night - that easily has the potential to scare the crap out of me 🤣 Thanks for another lovely episode Gary 👍🏻

Yep, I think I'll leave the church wandering to others! 🙂

Absolutely think the image is worth taking, and you ended up with a good shot, that you could re-take on a different day with stronger light. I've shot my local park (very bog standard) dozens of times, goal posts, play park, church tower, trees, burn; different season, different shots. Did any of the other images have the flag blowing across more, that you could clone in ? Did you take any portrait shots, to exclude the fence ? I believe the musician analogy; musician practice to get good, repeating the basics is never time wasted.

I liked this because it’s honest. Let’s face it, I’m probably not going to jet off to Patagonia to take photographs, yet I still get huge enjoyment from a local spot and follow it up with a gentle tinker on LR. I imagine this is relatable to amateur photographers across the country. 👏👏👏

Might not be a portfolio image, but it's these images of our local surroundings that appeal to locals and visitors to the area. I've put normal shots on Google of places I've been and amazed at the number of views they get. Great series fella and always interesting to see final image 👍🏻

Another great episode in the series Gary. It's definitely a good idea to get out in your local area and practice. As you say it might not be a social media post but it's good to help you with your editing skills rather than trying it with a fantastic location image that you love. Very informative and showing how you edit your image's. I thought the final image was really nice. Look forward to seeing your next video.
