Folks this is one of the best reviews I've seen of the these two cars. I have owned a C63 and also an older type M3 but I have to say I chopped my 63 in for a brand new AR QF, and yes it has the Italian issues but I love it. What a great drivers car, something sadly the Germans lack. I've done 1500 miles so far and people out there love it. Pull up at a petrol station and people will come over and talk to you, driving on the road people get up close to check it out. Thumbs up from bikers, I'm excited for the future of Alfa Romeo but let's hope my decision is not tainted by the Italian reliability. Big thumbs up guys 👍🏻

Yes ikr, but actually it was Giulietta at first, once they upgraded from the 1300cc to the 1600 and 1750 and 2000 they changed the name to Giulia. But Ikr, the first sports sedan was literally the predecessor to the Giulia, sad no one knows the history of the brand. I love my alfa, not many people my age do. I saw an old man in a 1750 Giulia TI Berlina in traffic a few days ago, I jumped out and took a pic of his car, he had his window down and I talked to him quickly at the light, the smile on his face when I knew what exact kind of alfa it was, it was priceless. I’m sure he was happy to see a young man look at his car the same way he probably did when he was my age, it made my day to see his smile.

I once had a dream (seriously) that I bought a 147 GTA and it made the most wonderful sound I ever heard. Can still hear it in my head. I've recently got the Giulia QV in real life. In Race mode it's very loud. With the windows shut it's not overly brash and the sound is exciting if not as lovely as a Busso. But then, it has twice the power of most Busso engines.

Alfa's got nothing on the BImmer. They have Chrysler and Fiat for a parent company, and the 4C already failed in North American. The Giula will have the same fate, sadly, while the M3 will keep taking names. Alfa doesn't have anything to wrestle with an M2, which is even better than the M3/M4.

I pretty much didn’t take it out of race mode, after all why go tame. Wow, it’s got enough kick, pace, noise and drama for me. I’ve driven a lot of other cars including the new M5 and this is pretty much up there. A for the M3 I haven’t taken a latest model out, however I have the M5. suuure, DeBo. "Didn't create shit", and yet Alfa was the most consistently successful racing marque of the entire pre-War era. Then in post-War, Alfa immediately dominated...no, *TOTALLY DOMINATED* F1 for years before Ferrari came along....and guess where Scuderia Ferrari came from, genius. Next you'll be saying something as brilliant as "Nuvolari couldn't drive a taco truck" or "Fangio was overrated"

Always watched your reviews and was intrigued with the Giulia after this. I just gave up my 335i for a Giulia Ti Sport performance so I have the active suspension and LSD. I knew I needed to buy this car the moment I felt the steering. The aggressive steering angle made my BMW felt numb. I’m down on power 310hp or so to 280hp and down 2 cylinders and some exhaust noise but the sacrifice is worth it. I don’t hear exhaust noise but every time I drive the car its so lively even in regular daily drives as long as I take a corner. Also, 7 years of the BMW and I never get any attention but the first time I drive my Alfa and I got a huge “I love your car!!” And a huge thumbs up. It’s a stark difference in appeal. When people said people actually walk up to talk to you about your car when parked or pumping gas, it’s real. Haha

Giulia QV an amazing car!!!! mine MY2018 is got 88.000 km and no issues yet... only once the engine light appeared around 75.000 Km; it was about software updated warning that had to be done and nothing else. I mostly use it on weekends and I really do drive it quite aggressively always in Race mode ( if you are a sport car type of guy you simply cannot drive this car in other modes) but no problems at all, the car can sustain it all. From 0 to 200 km-h is only second to very very few cars on the road, since I bought it I rarely take out from the garage my 911 997 carrera S ... give it a try gentlemen you won't be disappointed

For me it would be the Alfa all day long. Its the new kid on the block, it looks much better, and it has an engine made by Ferrari. It just feel more special, and thats what I want an 80.000 $ vehicle to do. If you need to worry about trivial and boring stuff like maintenance and depreciation, just get a regular car instead.

Issues, sure. but not deal-breakers. 70s and 80s italian cars were notorious for electrical problems. And in a colder climate you couldn't just hop in them, fire up and go very well without letting the engine and oil lines warm up for a few minutes.

n s ...have we really hit a point where we find a car lasting three years without problems...good enough? Resale value will still impact someone down the line. A manufacturer cannot have a product out there with a reputation for reliability issues. Even on leases, how do lease companies get rid of lease returns if they are known to have problems? Someone somewhere in the process has to pay a price for bad reliability reputation....its not like a $50,000 car dropping in value down to $27,000 in 3 years...is somehow not going to hurt someone..somewhere...in the pocketbook...specially if nobody wants to buy it used...unless deeply discounted...and who ultimately takes “that” hit?
@zeroceiling
@zeroceiling 4 жыл бұрын
n s ....absolutely true!....”If” all..or most of your buyers are millionaires...then you are right. If, however, you are a mass manufacturer, who depends largely on buyers from the middle class, then you have to be concerned with your re-sale value, and therefore...your reliability.

Hey guys, thanks for another lovely video. It's a really excellent comparison. The only criticism (hopefully constructive) that I have is the adbreaks which are very sudden. Obviously this is a symptom of being shot for TV (since KZbin only has intrusive videos at the beginning) but I think there must be a middle ground you'll be able to achieve that balances the two formats a little better.

@EverydayDriver
@EverydayDriver 7 жыл бұрын
We suspect it depends on where you define the beginning of the segment. Doesn't the BMW 1500 predate the Giulia? We are open to your take on the topic, but the point in this film is the gap in Alfa's participation.

According to Wikipedia, the Giulia was introduced in 1962 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_Giulia, the same year as the 1500 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_New_Class, making them both the 1st year of the 4 door versions of each. I'm assuming the race heritage to that point and the 2 door Giulietta of the 50s hints at why it's often given that title. I would side with Starfox on this one.

I always enjoy these videos and reviews from these guys! I am a manual only guy and have owned several nice cars including Evo IX, EVO X, BMW M2 6-speed, and currently own Challenger Hellcat 6-speed. I have always wanted the M3 competition pack, but at that point in my life, I couldn't afford a $88k car, and ended up getting a much more affordable M2, which was still a fantastic car. So of these 2, I would still choose the M3, but the Alfa Romeos are definitely starting to grow on me. No manual option is a big reason I would never consider actually buying an Alfa Romeo. Lets see what the future will bring, but my current Hellcat is a keeper for a LONG time. That car will give you a permanent smile which is what its all about.

Florida Maddogg I totally respect your love of manuals. My e39 M5 & e92 M3 were both manuals but i moved over to DCT with my 2017 M2 (couldn't find a manual version). It took me a good week to use the paddle shift properly but honestly, once you crack it, you lose nothing to a stick shift. I picked up my Quadrifoglio recently and i totally love it (blows the M2 away in every respect). All i'd say is at least test drive the Alfa and tick it off the bucket list - you won't regret it!
