We made these while watching the vid~ it is an insanely large batch for home cooking, we had to use two pans! Absolutely delicious; we used ground flax seed in place of the wheat germ ‘cause we’re fancy like that.

Holy moly 4 cups of granulated sugar is about 800g? Daily sugar intake recommended 24-36g. If he finished cutting all the bars equally will make 48 pieces. 800g/48 = ~16.67g of sugar a piece + confectionery sugar on top. Naughty food. I'm still making it.

Great video! I’m going to try this crust next time. I make lemon bars for all my work pot lucks and they’re always a hit! I’ve found that using a pizza cutter works great as well.

Thank you , Thomas .., what is your favorite flour ? Also in sweet desserts I always cut the sugar amount way down as I can’t stand cloyingly sweet desserts - it works fine even though baking is precise.

I think they use a yeast dough and a different kind of topping. There is a version popularized by Paula Dean that is made with cake mix and cream cheese, but that's not the traditional version. The NY Times has a highly-rated recipe, but I would love to see Kitchen Conundrums tackle it!

How long should you leave it in the oven when you add the lemon curd to the biscuit? I'm assuming it is still cooking at 350F

and if you do not have powdered sugar at hand, you can just throw regular sugar in the blender with some cornstarch, and there you have powdered sugar. x)

Can you give metric measurements alongside the imperial? It's watched internationally so it would be nice to have both. Same with temperature, everywhere else has Celsius so it would nice to not have to do a heap of maths after watching the video. Anyway, just a suggestion.

You could try coarse oat flour, I usually substitute wheat flour with oat flouer and have never really noticed a difference in taste

Something I would love to know concerning a lemon bar recipe is if you can just cut up a lemon, take out the seeds, and maybe trim off excess pith, and just blend it until you have your one and a half cups of juice? There was a video on Facebook of a woman that did that for her recipe, so I was wondering if that would be the best and easiest way of going about zesting and juicing a lemon for this recipe? I really hate zesting, lol, it never comes out right or leave me enough for my efforts, so If I can take the route of a food processor, I would be a happier baker. Outside of this recipe, I was wondering what you thought about using popcorn salt for baking instead of kosher and sea salt? I read a comment under a different video and they mentioned something about it. I'd never heard of anyone using popcorn salt before and I'm pretty sure it's not the flavored stuff that I've seen.

Yvonne Vivo I did that and it didn’t make that much of a difference. Just use 1 cup of lemon juice instead of one and a half cup.

Thanks, I love Lemon Bars. Now, since we often find recipes for Lemon Bars, and other desserts, to be too sweet do you have a trick for lowering the sugar content while keeping the recipe intact? That's oftentimes my conundrum in the kitchen.

I am sure these are great but if anyone is looking for a lemon bar recipe wegmans has the best recipe I have ever found. I have tried so many variations, tested, searched far and wide because lemon bars are my favorite! You can find it on wegmans.com. I do make them with half the sugar it calls for but I love the tartness. They are creamy in texture with a tender crust. If you do try them make sure not to over bake the crust.

If you change the recipe, is it still their recipe? Sugar is a structural ingredient. It affects taste and texture. You've made a different version!

We LOVE lemon bars! I use a recipe from one of my Susan Branch cookbooks, Sweets to the Sweet. It's very similar to this one in the video but makes a much smaller batch and it has a crispy crust-like texture on the top. The crust is made with powdered sugar too so it melts in your mouth! Yum!!
