Nobody is a bigger Hyundai/Genesis fan than me. I have been a Loyal customer since 2003. I bought my first brand new car 1999 a 2000 Chrysler Sebring LXI. That car in 2002 immediately after I lost my 3 year 36k miles warranty gave me nothing but problems. It spent more time in the shop than it did on the road. A friend of mine towards the end of 2003 offered me a car cheap. It was her 2000 Elantra. She knew I was having issues getting to work. I said ok I’ll buy it as I needed a car and I was to far upside down on my 5 year lease. I gave that Elantra to my brother in 2017 with 177k miles on it. When I bought it back in 03 it had 62k. Besides the routine maintenance, the only money I spent on that car was a exhaust and new wires, plugs , and all fluid change. I had purchased a few new Hyundai’s since getting rid of that Sebring, but kept that Elantra. It hurt to give it to my bro, but he was in need. I watched closely what Hyundai has been doing since then. Watched how they first brought great reliability to the brand, how they turned Kia around, watched how they stepped out of the shadows of Honda & Toyota. Then around 2013 really started putting the hammer down on all other manufacturers. Giving consumers much more for their money. I should have started my own review channel back then as I have family that only buys Ford or GM. I started comparing my vehicles to there’s back then and would notice huge difference especially within the price difference. . Hyundai many years ago was the company following from back of the line. Now they are all by themselves the leaders of all manufacturers. Honda, Toyota, Nissan realized in 2015 that they need to play catch up, Hyundai made those guys copy cats. Chevy has yet to figure out, although they are copying Hyundai vehicles exterior styling, but still far behind everywhere else. Ford start figuring out about a year ago, but still far behind. Think about this, it was the Hyundai Palisade which we own, that made Cadillac to step up there game. We had got a 2019 Palisade Limited same year my cousin and his wife got a Escalade. I put them 2 through a complete comparison and proved to my cousin in almost ALL aspects that our Palisade was better. I found the Escalade to have slightly less cabin noise. I liked the materials better on the Palisade, far better safety features, bigger 10.2 inch infotainment, a 12.3 inch digital dash compared to analog and a 7 inch helper screen. A class leading highway driving assistant compared to what ever that was. A better sound system and overall better vehicle with a far better warranty. Then I see a popular review site Throttle House said the same thing I did, that the Hyundai Palisade was a better vehicle than a Cadillac Escalade. Here was the real sad difference. We paid 46k and my cousin paid 78k. That was a absolute joke to me and ensured me I would never buy outside of Hyundai/Genesis. My cousin and his wife had the biggest attitude’s. I said don’t get pissed at me, I did build and sell this to you, Cadillac did. Well 2 years later you could see all of the design and technology feature changes Cadillac made that are quite obviously influenced from the Hyundai Palisade. Pretty sad when a company that’s been around 50 years longer and adds a 2, 3 and even 4X heftier price tag needs to copy a non luxury brands tech and styling

Today I am heading to North Vancouver to pickup my Ionic 5 top trim, and yes I am getting that black trim kit. Over all I bought this for the very large back doors and space for my elderly parents, much more space than either my Kia Soul EV. Range on the Ionic 5 may exceed the GV60, although I like the GV60 interior and controls I think ionic wins for practicality.

Basically rear wipers are not needed. For parking you got the cameras and depending on your model, the mirror is also digital so you actually never look through the rear window. But even if you don't have them there is rarely an occasion were that's a problem.

Hello from Vancouver Island , great review . I have had the Ioniq 5 on order now for almost a year now its been put back again untill Sept 2023. 7 weeks ago i made a phone call and within 2 days i had the choice of 2 GV 60 Advance and Performance after driving both other than the extra power with the boost button i really could not tell the difference so I went with the Advance i have now driven 7000 KLM love the car very hard to find any fault with it , If i could add or change anything i would have loved the sliding centre console and maybe a deeper one its a little small. I have been getting great range avg 470 to 490 KLM twice i have been over 500KLM so very happy with that. I was in very heavy rain last week in Seattle on the I5 no problem with rear view window in the rain i have coated my glass which does help. I agree the cost of the car is a little high this one cost $85K taxes in and of course no money back as the car is above the $65K. Again thanks loved your video.

The GV60 is more expensive, but it’s the superior car. That’s by design: Hyundai doesn’t want to compete with the EV6 or GV60. All of them simply want to compete with the Tesla Model Y. To a lesser extent, they outperform the Tesla Model 3 for a better price.

The Ioniq 5/EV6/GV60 are a great effort from Hyundai/Kia; of the three I like the GV60 the most, although the EV6 GT performance/cost ratio can't be ignored, Ioniq 5 is the most practical of the three. I'm looking forward to the Ioniq6 and it's Genesis counterpart however, I just don't want a CUV. Hopefully Genesis makes a wagon version if the Ioniq6 in a performance variant, I'll be one of the four to five people in the US that buys it. I have a Lexus IS350 Fsport, my wife has a 2022 Sorento PHEV, we would have gone all electric for her if there had been a 3-row on the market (Model Y third row is useless, also ~73k MSRP when configured vs. the 50k for the Sorento PHEV); I'll be looking to move from the Lexus in the next ~3 years or so, hopefully there is something on the market I want, thankfully it's a Lexus so if there isn't I'm not particularly worried about reliability.

I have to disagree w/ your assessment. I love our Ioniq 5 Limited and based on the glowing reviews, I thought I would love the GV60 even more. So I got the GV60 performance w/ the intention of replacing the Ioniq 5. Everyone in the family ended up disliking the GV60. Yes...the GV60 is quieter and has a nicer interior, but it had more irritating wind noise and less functional utility - especially for the family. I actually didn't care for the ride - i felt it was stiffer and rode heavier. I much prefer the lighter and more airy ride of the Ioniq. The kids didn't care for the GV60 b/c it felt more claustrophobic in the 2nd row w/ smaller windows and much less leg & feet room. This made a difference as my husbands 6-3 and there was no legroom sitting behind him in the GV60. The performance was also overwhelming and out right dangerous with way too much tire spin if the wheels are not pointed straight. Maybe I would have preferred the lower Advance trim, but I don't think the Performance was worth the $14k usd over the ioniq. We sold the GV60 as it sat unused as we all gravitated toward the Ioniq instead. I'm not saying the GV60 is a bad car, but I much prefer the Ioniq for the daily family practically, the airy cabin and lower price.

Since you’ve owned both, perhaps you can help me. I have an Ioniq 5 Limited AWD now (equivalent of the one in this review in the US). The one thing that I really miss compared to my previous cars is tight steering. Even in sports mode, I find the steering too light. I also wish it had the “My Mode” that allowed me to use the tighter sport steering, but with normal or eco mode for the rest like the GV60 has. Did you notice a significant difference in steering weight between the two? Outside of the interior luxury and the steering, I prefer everything else about the Ioniq. Maybe switching to 21” wheels will help with steering, but I doubt it because the contact patch is still the same.

In Australia the GV60 costs $35K more than the top i5 and the eGV70 is not built on the eGMP platform so it is not a good substitute for the i5. Like you, I'm looking forward to the i5N coming in 2023 but fear it will sacrifice ground clearance and ride harshness which I'm reluctant to do.
@EverydayReviews2022 Жыл бұрын
I wonder if there was a rear spoiler on the back like the GV60, if it would help block the spray. I might do a mock up and try it out one day when I get some time. Wiper would really be nice
@argystar Жыл бұрын
@@EverydayReviews2022 I think the rake of the i5 rear is too steep for a spoiler, and the quasi spoiler at the top of the rear window is completely ineffectual if it is intended to provide a rain-clearing downdraft.

GV60 is no question more luxurious however it is a lot more $$$$ and doesn't qualify for the federal EV rebate. Ioniq5 is good enough for me.
@EverydayReviews20222 жыл бұрын
For sure. We’re very happy with our decision however the drive of the Performance GV60 with the gobs if extra power and adaptive suspension make it a really good choice for driving enthusiasts.
@Antiguan_Dart Жыл бұрын
In the UK and some others territories the GV60 is available in a RWD 226bhp (168 kW) variant (0-60mph in 7.4 secs) so not blazing fast but absolutely adequate for over-taking and joining motorways. And bridges some what that price difference.

@EverydayReviews20222 жыл бұрын
I don’t think the cabin heat would do anything to heat the door handle. I heard that Teslas may be coming with heated handles
@jonathangwynne19172 жыл бұрын
I have had a Tesla Model 3 through three New England winters. The flush handles do freeze but if I turn on the climate control about 30 minutes before I want to leave the heat-soak is enough to loosen them. Also, don't forget to switch off the automatic folding mirrors. You could easily strip gears or burn out the motors if the mirror freezes. But the worst part of the Tesla is the franeless windows. They freeze too and they're the hardest to free up. I curse the stylist who insisted on using them. They're awful.

Why do you Americans NOT have the camera side "mirrors" like we do here in Australia, or Europe or Asia ? These electronic side video screen mirrors are brilliant in low light or in wet weather , give the best blind spot coverage and of course, minimise the wind noise due to its much smaller size. Why don't American models offer this great feature ? ( Is it because you still haven't embraced the metric system ? )

It's just for looks. Smaller wheels are lighter and are better for EVs as they have less unsprung weight. Go over to Engineering Explained as he's got a great video that proves this. Another benefit of smaller wheels is thicker sidewall makes the ride smoother and they are cheaper, too. I downsized from 20 to 18 inch wheels for my winter tires and I prefer the ride. I may sell my 20s and just get another 18 for summers.

Cant find what the cathode in the battery is, which probably means an NCA or NCM 2170 or 4680 which means you should can not charge over 90% and discharge below 10%, thus range is reduced by 20%, which takes the GV60 to 192 miles. Garbage. My Mazda 2 does 600 miles on 44 li of diesel and is half the price.
